"A man naturally loves himself," calmly says the wise aged man sitting behind his desk facing quite a few monitors and a camera as he speaks in response to the afflicted person asking for guidance from the other side of the world, claiming to have hatred on he himself 'cause of trauma.
The moment this one listener from another place, typing lines of codes around 2 in the cold morning, heard the inquisitor's trouble, she's put on hold of whatever she was doing and focused on from where it was coming. "If you hate yourself, there must be something wrong," the old man continued. She moved closer to the screen and observed the scriptures projected supporting his statements as to why people tend to hate themselves.
She... for once, felt such a sense of relief due to the response to the troubled man. She sat there and listened like a little child deeply immersed until the host answered completely and moved on to the next person to ask. Minutes later, she started to contemplate about everything. Questioning herself as to how she ended up from hating to loathing herself. Just a little more push and she'd reach the hate level, abhor.
Disappointment? Wrong decisions in life? Feeling of getting disowned? Stupid? Peer pressure? Wrong perspective in life? Oh yes, there's a lot more to mention. Mostly, she would just drop her knees and pray. If not, she'd just cry herself to sleep. Ah yes! it was the day when she started to express herself more creatively. The day where she found joy that fueled a passion of hers. The day she felt warmth and love with what she does. That time where she felt like wanting to grow and improve more-- but sadly, she can't.
"That's not a dream, you're wasting your time. Stop it for it will bring you nowhere-- unless you want to see yourself on the streets begging for alms." The words struck her so much that she felt odd, hurt? Her mind was clouded/foggy and she felt lost. She knows that people will judge her, telling her that she's just another whiny ingrate youth thinking that life is so easy and you could do whatever you want, if she goes against what they want.
Where did it go wrong? I must say, maybe she just wasn't good enough. Hear me out, she tried to follow the plan that was set for her to follow. With that, she learned quite a lot of things but people are still disappointed, she's not the genius kid that everyone was expecting, she felt really stupid, dumb, and useless that a tiny seed of hate started to sprout in her. Maybe she just can't get her mind off of what she loves. Like when she tries to do something else, she can't help but think of it. Hmm. For me, I think she's done well despite forcing herself to do things just to reach the dream that was set for her by "them". She constantly changes aims and roles just to please them which is quite enough to lose her mind and her true self.
If the thought of leaving what she dearly loves makes her not want to care about herself any longer, how much more if the people she expected support from would make her destroy it?
Few things that keep her sane are her books and this one specific book which is her favorite. A book full of wisdom and mystery that satisfies her curious and playful mind. As she lives her life with it, the things that were once mysterious turned into parables with the help of a certain man who studied the book his whole life, the person she listened to during that dark cold morning, and with the help and mercy of the Father she serves. Day by day, she learned new things and became wiser just like everyone else. She became more understanding than before and started to embrace of what's to come-- but the burning passion of hatred to herself was still there.

Oohhhh I get it now. The MC is a person who's mind is filled with wonderful things, a creative soul that yearns to create, to build and to manifest the imagination and ideas often buzzing in her head. Mc loves interesting things her parents don't want her to think about(I think they wanted her to be someone who would work as a military person or related to the military at least but the MC was an artist and she didn't want that.
They want the MC to be someone else, something else not herself. They want to sculp MC into becoming someone else MC isn't but they don't know that, or maybe they do and they just refuse to see the reality of their actions. They want to shape MC into becoming what they couldn't achieve before. Or maybe they just want someone to finish the legacy the man with the hat had during his career.
They want someone more inclined into their personal preferences, and this makes the MC slowly go mad. This kills MC inside and in order for them to keep going, to survive, the MC created a persona as a coping mechanism (which appears to be the serious one.) MC (being someone who yearns for their attention and acceptance) wanted to truly be loved and accepted by the woman and man(who tipped his hat). Thus, MC was willing to kill the original "self", the original "character" they had and was willing for the Persona to be the main so MC can completely become the person her parents wanted her to be. MC was willing to kill herself, MC was willing to kill the creative soul in her heart in order to please the people she wants to loved and accepted by 😭
MC was willing to kill themself(thus, the scene in the basement that we saw where there was a bloody body and why the police haven't caught them during the scene where there appears to be a body in the trunk of the car.) To put it simply, the scene where they killed someone was simply what MC imagined his "death" would be if she killed herself to please the people who appeared to be important figures in her life.
I also think that the parents originally wanted a son but instead they got an artistic daughter (which didn't suit their taste so they wanted her to be someone else) I think that's why MC's other Persona and the part where the song goes "I'm walking through the streets, wearing my disguise" the disguise is referring to how she appears to be a male, someone with sharp features, masculine in how she carried herself.
And I think the reason why the woman was surprised when she saw MC was because she couldn't recognize her own daughter anymore. She saw what MC had become trying to please them and a part of her knows she had a hand into shaping this daughter that appeared in her doorsteps

The first time I've watched it, everything was going well until the end popped up- i just got confused (so the girl is still alive?). I kept watching it and i still got no answers when i found a name on the phone that says 'Lachlan' ... I am sure i have seen an artwork of yours that has 'Lachlan' somewhere, so i looked for it. When i found it, everything became somewhat clear.
here's my take:
IT'S NOT LITERAL. Most of the events portrayed in the video are happening in MC's mind, specifically the murder part. The long-hair-dude (named Lachlan, i assume since he's probably the one texted) and the dead?-long-hair-gal are mere visuals or illusions of MC's mind/conscience (maybe that's why they have long hairs as MC because He/She is THEM as well). This is probably why the gal was still there in the end.
Now I'm not sure about this but based on your post about them on ig, the gal is the passionate and creative person. On the other hand, Lachlan is more of the rational person and perfectionist. That long essay on the description, i thought that it didn't make any sense. The person you are referring to is actually MC! It describes how MC is pressured by peers and standards set by MC's loved ones. They didn't like/care much about her/his passion. Hence, she starts hating on herself/himself and tries to be the person they want her/him to be. I think Lachlan is like the conscience that helps her to be THAT person and the other the mother/compassionate role to MC (probably MC's real self) which then drives me to the conclusion that the gal is the one speaking to MC in the end.
Now, to the woman and man that tipped his hat, i think they hold an important role to MC's life (probably parents or relatives). That one phrase of the song that goes "...the one i killed is me, changing what i was for what you wanted me to be," is MC explaining to them that he'd do anything for them to be happy.......... even if it means killing someone for them.
