I recently SOLD this bike because it was leaking oil and the dealer flat out refused to fix it. Watch the "5 things I hate" video and read the pinned comment for all the details. I'm done with Aprilia! ua-cam.com/video/TnX_F9pKjKE/v-deo.htmlsi=8PR95lQVbhKQwkcA
I agree 100%! I ride a 23 RSV4 Factory and its just awesome. When I got it, the dealer said to me, don't make big mods before the first service. If there are problems, they will just return it and get me a new one. It has been perfectly reliable though.
I know you do not often hear this, but thanks for your unbiased and detailed review....I appreciate your hard work. I was torn between this bike and the S1krr. You earned a sub!
I'm 54 years old and own a '21 RSV4 Factory (my Garage Queen). I'm in over $5k in upgrades with SC Project GP-22, Gabro UpMap, Sprint Filter, carbon fiber frame covers, Rizoma and R&G everywhere and she only has 153 miles on it. I only take it to bike meets. I converted from a 2021 Ducati V4 which I purchased from Corey Alexander and the good folks @ Hudson Valley Motorcycles where $5k only got me an Akrapovic exhaust which woke the Ducati V4 up but it was like riding a pizza oven in the summer! The RSV4 doesn't run as hot and sounds much meaner with any exhaust you put on it. I LOVE this thing so much that I want to get buried with it. No issues or warning lights but I guess its because I hardly ride it. ;) Keep it up @PetroHead... your channel has good stuff!
@@PetroHead I believe this is going to be a classic generation of the RSV4. With so many changes happening (Euro 5, countless government restrictions, introduction of electric motorcycles etc.) I’m afraid we’re transitioning to a vanilla’ish world. I can’t drive an electric vehicle because I will fall asleep behind the wheel. The connection we have as motorcycle riders has a lot to do with that thrilling combustion engine grunt. I never want to disconnect from that feeling I instantly felt from my first ride on the RSV4. In fact, I’m considering a Tuono V4 1100 to ride as often as I can.
I agree. I mentioned electric bikes (aka vanilla world) and that’s the direction we’re headed into. But anyway… you’re the guy everyone wants to buy secondhand from.. my bike? No one will want it. Haha
I bought the first 2021 RSV4 to hit Kansas City. It was the 33rd bike off of the Aprilia assembly line. Overall, I loved the bike but I had nothing but problems and my local dealership is absolutely horrible! Be grateful that your dealership gave you another RSV4 when you had issues. My dealership wouldn't work with me at all which made the entire ownership experience evern worse. I told myself when I bought the Aprilia...I'll give it two years, when the warranty is up, if I have had good luck then I'll keep it, otherwise, I'll get rid of it. Welllll, after two years, I traded it in for a brand new 2023 Hayabusa. Do I miss riding the RSV4??? Absolutely! Do I miss dealing with the all of the oil leaks, fork seal leaks, stator issues, and the horrifically bad dealership....NOPE!
Ohlins forks can be fragile. If the fork seals were leaking repeatedly, it's often down to over tightening the front axle pinch bolts which leads to cracks and allows the stanchions to move in ways they shouldn't, causing the seals to leak. This has been an issue since the days of the Rotax V60 twins and is almost always due to someone not understanding the bolts should only be torqued to 7Nm. Oh and Ohlins doesn't give a shit about customer service should you need the fork bottom replaced - it's a specialist job.
Same here. The more I worked on my rsv4 the more I realized Aprilia has terrible QC, along with the oil leak and terrible dealership exp I finally decided to dump it.
I love my rsv4 and it has always been my favorite of the top 3 euro bikes! Even though I still want to own the other two as well. I love how your video accurately tells the viewers that this bike has 217hp! Most people on UA-cam say it has 199 or 213. My favorite feature of my rav4 is the smooth as butter quick shifter! Up or down you can even go into neutral with it!
The Rsv 4 and the Tuono are my dream bike. Beside all the kinks I have to own one of these bikes before I move on to anything else. Thnx for the info! 💪🏾👍🏾
I’m 49 years old I’ve been riding Harley‘s for the last 20 years started out on sport bikes now getting back into sport bikes just ordered the aprilla rsv4 can’t wait till it gets here. You’re never too old to ride sport bikes. It’s all up to the individual.
Thank you for getting back to me I really enjoy your videos I subscribed to your channel and I’m restoring a 96GSXR 750 everybody gives me crap because I’m older and I said well when you’ve ridden bikes for over 30 years you would understand keep up the content it’s awesome.
Never share your dreams with people.. people want you to be just like them.. the minute you’re different, they’ll advise you not to do it. (If it’s family telling you about safety etc, that’s different.. just tell them you’re older / mature) Instead.. find a community (like this one) that has people with your interests. I know a guy who’s 87 and still rides. Look for a video on my channel with the title ‘old dudes’ and send that video to everyone you know. Do what makes you happy.. fuck age.
I just sold my 2023 s1000rr to buy a 2022 rsv4 factory. I love it so much more than my s1000rr. The bmw is dull on the road and the engine is so mechanically noisey. The aprilia has a mechanically quiet engine that delivery so much more grunt than the bmw that it makes the bike very exciting to ride. I litterally am giggling like a child when I ride it. That is until now, limp mode 4 times so far. Urgent service alarm keeps showing on the dash. The bike has only 800 miles on it!!!!!!
Hey. I was getting urgent service warning light as well within 15 miles after buying. Took it back and they changed coolant mix to 70/30 coolant/water from 100% pure coolant. Hasn’t overheated in a year, with 10,000 miles so far. I’m not the only one it has happened to apparently.
Since I first heard that V4 10 years ago, revving high and approaching from the distance, I dreamt one day owning an RSV4. Last weekend I sold my Tuono 660 and got Tuono V4 2022 same day, with 2000 miles and Arrow Pista pipe. That engine is really something special. I can't get used to power, always brings smile to my face. And when I start it up in the garage it's literally shaking everything around, waking up dead.
I was briefed and advised on the RSV4, but the Panigale V4 has been my dream bike since a long time ago. I finally got the Panigale but judging by your videos as well as the sound of the RSV4 Factory from 650ib, I can definitely said that Aprilia has the best sound w/o doubts. I might go for the RSV4 as my second bike. Great video, new subscriber!
Riding my 2021 RSV4 for two years now I never had a single issue. And honestly you don't have to go to the gym to ride this thing. But I do agree with you with all other aspects. Nice review and I want to thank you for that.
Thanks for this video. I’m debating between this and the Tuono. I’ve ridden nothing but super sports since 1998, other than my MT-10 which I absolutely loved for the added comfort. Either way Aprilia here I come 🎉
I loved my three RSV4s. I still have a 2016.5 RSV4 RF as a track bike but I'm done with superbikes on the street personally. I have a Super Duke Evo now (but I had a Tuono 1000R for 16 years). They sound so great, and they're so stable in their cornering that you feel like you can't crash one on the track. I turn off wheelie and traction control and let her dig in. I have had no reliability issues with my bikes at all, though.
I just sat on a new, 2024 RSV4, then started watching reviews, yours being the best, as many have stated here, I really appreciate your honesty when it comes to the good, and the bad! Currently on an old 2004CBR 1000RR, I'm in the market for a new one, like you said in the video, before there are no more!!! I've considered a few, but this truly does look like the biggest bang for the buck. Ducati's are cool, but dang, super pricey...even if they are dominating Moto GP. Again, thanks for your info and candor! Cheers from Canada.
Awesome video! Been looking forward to what you were about to say with the reliability part. As a mechanic myself I will say this, the other comments are right. Literally almost all of them unfortunately. Ducati’s definitely have their issues. So does the new Triple R Fireblade, Suzuki just can’t seem to get their fuel pump issues right HOWEVER that may change in 24 finally. I think Aprilia knows what the problems are. It’s just a matter of reworking the schematic design of the motor and electronics part.
Great review, interesting use of the cruise control 😊. I use my bike to commute and the occasional track day. Also did a trip to Italy (2500 km in total). Haven't had ANY problems since I bought it in 2021. Maybe I've been lucky so far, it always starts on the button even after sitting in the garage for two months...
After my first test ride at the RSV4 factory today being a Tuono 1100 owner , I can't agree more , this bike is out of the world , true track weapon and keeps the flag of be a racer high
Good review 16:00 What happened with fuse number 5 in the end? How has the bike been since making this video, any more issues or does it seem alright now that those initial few things got sorted?
@@PetroHead That's kind of weird. I'm really on the fence with getting a tuono, my thinking is it will likely be both the most fun street bike and the most frustrating at the same time. Which is fine. But I promised myself I'd test ride several different options before buying something this time, so we'll see.
I had a USA Werkes GP slipon exhaust and the rest was standard. I did on an open clean road on the clock 325 km/h and on the gps it was 320 k/h that is 200 mph where it was governed and refuse to go faster and it is like 4200 feet above sea level loosing a few HP compared to sea level. I love Ducati and especially the SP2 and R, but can buy an Aprilia like yours and a dual purpose bike for Ducati's price. I am in my 60's, in shape and experience the Aprilia RSV very comfortable in all riding conditions and enjoy when the young generation looks at me what are you doing here on track old man and then leave them behind, but I'm just a fairly fast normal guy and not a pro racer. I did beat a pro racer on a 1000 Honda once in a track session when we had a full on race between the 2 of us lapping some other guys up to 3 times and that was still on my V2 old Aprilia. I will buy Aprilia anytime again.
I know this is an old video but i love how completely honest about your review. Honeslty, i believe it was faith for me to watch your video on my yt feed because im looking to get one. I especially like how you referenced the bike with it's flaws to a relationship anout being patient and not giving up on it. Sold me with its flaws cause honeslty patience is what i have as we get older in time ☝🏽💯. Keep up with the content just earned a sub.
Excellent review really enjoyed the music the lights in backround ,i will definetly be getting rsv4 the looks the sound ,by the way ducati has similar problems with its v4 and underseat heating issues.
Great review. I love your honesty. I had the pleasure to demo the Factory at Road Atlanta this week for 2 sessions. When you said the bike felt like it would rip your arms off, I knew you knew what you were talking about. The bike is an absolute beast. Now I want one.
As the laps progressed, I got on the throttle sooner and held it for longer. Those first few WOT's were a real shocker. I would basically be stuck in whatever position I was in 2-4th gears. The standard shift threw me off too. But downshifting from 6-2nd gear felt great with the autoblip and pressing DOWN on the shift lever. The bike was smarter than me. I accidentally tried up shifting the wrong way but the bike wouldn't allow it. The electronics totally saved my butt several times riding at an A group pace with the traction control, wheelie control, and the autoblip lockout (for idiots that forgot how to standard shift).
lol glad you had fun.. You may or may not know but I exclusively ride in race shift. I got quite a few A group sessions recorded for the channel. Enjoy 😉
6k miles since i bought brand new in May this year 2024 rsv4. I have been riding it hard and hit 199 mph on the speedo once. 0 Problems and I am dropping the bike soon for the 6k service and for a new tire
Thanks so much for the review. I feel like you’ve given considerably more than others who just don’t have the time in to provide them with the intimate experience that you’ve had. I’ve had a bunch of sport bikes, and other motorcycles. Now at 48, I’m on a BMW GSA. A great all rounder. My gal likes it. I’ve even tracked it. But yeah, it’s a big fat GSA. I’m ready for a serious sport bike again. There’s room in the garage. I think it’s time to pull the trigger. Thanks again:)
Oh, the RSV4 would/will be a second bike for sure. (Making an offer tomorrow.) My love can’t tolerate loud machines. And I’m unfulfilled without one. Or two:)
Hello, I have the same motorcycle as you, since December 2022 and so far the only thing that failed was a gasoline injector. They solved it for me with an update because some sensor failed and at the moment everything works fine 🤞🏻🤞🏻. I think the same as you with everything you say in this video. I had the BMW S1000RR hockenheim silver from May 2021, I ended up fed up with vibrations in the mirrors, electronic suspension that was not working well, rear shock absorber made noises and they changed the oil pump at 10,000km. I changed it for the RSV4 and I am very glad . Greetings from Spain ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
@@PetroHead I simply took the bike for a ride and the engine failure warning that should go off when you're driving was still on and wouldn't go away, so I decided to go to Aprilia to have it checked and along the way I noticed that it didn't sound the same. Especially when starting. I didn't notice a huge lack of power but it was obvious that something was not right. They told me that an injector sensor failed and I think they fixed it with software and until today everything is ok✌🏻✌🏻
11:30 Ive owned an 18 RSV4 RF and test rode the "updated" 19. Honestly i didn't feel what i felt on the Pani. Your comment on full tilt having your eyes melt back into your face was felt on the V4S add to that i got tunnel vision hitting 190 on the highway with it willing to go more i cut it off rolling back to the dealership with my eyes watering in shock. THAT hooked me to Ducati. I don't get that with Aprilia. Since I've blown past the spedo 199 it goes to - - if anyone has been there they know.
Knocking on wood here. Got a 21 RSV4 used with 462 miles on it. Other than updating the ecu at the dealer and the disappearance of about 1.5 or so liters of oil every 3k miles mine has been great. Got the upmap with the race map installed, k&n air filter, leo LV-10 exhaust, woodcraft rearsets, sato tie downs and an exhaust hanger. Been to Chuckwalla and Fontana track days. Like what you said its a ridiculous bike in power mode 1, super responsive throttle. Currently over 14k miles of abuse and shes doing great.
@PetroHead lol yeah. So far so good. Wouldn't get rid of it for anything either. I will say, it's getting close to needing new pads up front, and to refresh the fork oil. Chain and sprockets show basically no wear. Wanting to do a 520 conversion but I'm waiting it out for the stock ones to he done.
Very cool man. You just reminded me to check my oil level since I just hit 4K miles. Mine needs new pads in the front and rear and I’ve been too cheap to replace them lol
Great video, thanks! I've been hearing a lot of the issues on the 22 onward models that you mentioned, so I went for a low mileage 2019 instead. And although the bike is not perfect (also the starter issue and it seems to get hot quite quick), up to this day I'm very happy with it. I also made a lot of mods to it, and as it is now, it's the best bike I ever had (I've been around riding at least 30+ years). If you have one, ditch the standard muffler, and replace the standard ECU map asap, as that one is optimized for the ever increasing emissions demands and is not going to benefit the health of this bike, nor the pleasure of riding it.
I’m on the fence between the RSV4 and Yamaha R1. Both have lots of character and sound bad ass. I’ll have to see what’s available when I’m ready to pull the trigger next years 2024 riding season. It seems like the RSV4’s kinks are almost all worked out with the coolant/overheating recall and oil leak issue. My brain tells me R1 but my heart tells me RSV4. Lol😂
You said it perfectly.. an RSV4 is an emotional purchase because logic tells you it’s a bad idea but the heart still wants one (I did mention this in my video lol)
I know both very well, the R1 is very capable but it needs a lot of modification to make it "good" while the RSV4 is amazing right out of the box and constantly pulls on your heart strings.
Great video mate. It’s not like me to watch a video that long without skipping or speeding it up. I watched all your video in its entirety. I’ve had loads of bikes, including a Gen 3 BMW S1000RR a 2018 Tuono 1100 V4 Factory, Gen 6 ZX10R, 2023 BMW S1000R M Sport (amazing electronics - a bit dull to ride if I’m honest) The Tuono had electronics that were technically less refined than the S1000R, but the Tuono would ignite your soul. The BMW… meh… I agree with you, the Aprilia V4 is the best sounding V4 period! I want to get the 2023 RSV4 Factory… a little concerned about your issues and what I’ve heard about the dealer network and how they don’t work with the customer as much as they could/should. So now I’m thinking, for the sake of reliability, do I just get a new S1000RR? Unbelievable bikes…. It’s just… there’s no substitute for a V4…. Maybe I get another Tuono V4 for the road and an S1000RR for the track. Can’t wait to have that conversation with the wife… 😂😂
I would avoid getting an RSV4. Mine just started leaking oil, but while it was fixed under warranty, I had to jump through hoops to get it resolved. Dealer support was terrible and talking directly with Aprilia was a nightmare. Avoid Aprilia.
Sorry to hear that man! Also gutted because I feel like I’d be crazy to get this info and jump straight into the situation you’re now in. Living in AZ too… I know these run pretty hot as it is. Head and heart… but I think the S1000RR would be the smarter choice with less headache.
I enjoyed your video. I love the sound of mine as well. Interestingly, and knock on wood, but I haven't had a single issue with my 2021 Factory. So there are people out there with Aprilia bikes that have NOT had any of the issues you spoke of. Maybe I'm just a lucky girl? :)
I got mine in ‘22 and had the Alaem error, Aprilia said it was a dashboard issue. I put Gabro map on it and it fixed the issue. Never replaced dashboard. However, now I see bubbles on my gas tank.. sounds like evap not releasing pressure.
I just refitted my standard exhaust along with the servo cables, i did 15 miles tonight with no urgent service alarm! It would appear the akrapovic exhaust is causing the issue
Thank you for the review, great video. I remember when I got my license a few years back that I went to an "Aprilia" test day 1 month after getting passing my test. The RSV4 Factory (2021 version, red and purple livery - absolutely stunning) was the first sport bike I've ever driven and it was an out of this world experience given my total lack of experience at the time. It felt like sitting on top of a rocket that just wanted to take off, the noise and the vibration of the engine was fantastic. I do suspect (or I'm hoping) that Aprilia update the RSV4 at EICMA this year to keep up with BMW and Ducati. I'm also hoping (but less hopeful) that Yamaha finally updates the R1. It feels like Yamaha is updating every bike expect the R1, even the Niken got updated this year!
Aprilia has no incentive to update the RSV4 because unlike Ducati and BMW, they aren't racing. Racing teams like Ducati and BMW always need to evolve to stay competitive and because Aprilia no longer races, they don't update like the other manufacturers. Therefore, I doubt you'll see any changes being made. The only changes you'll see for the retail market are new colors. PS: The day Aprilia races in WSBK and MotoAmerica will be a great day for RSV4 owners.
By owning a racing team, they’re just an advertisement for the brand. Not sure they need the advertisement.. Aprilia is also a very small company.. that could be it.
Currently ride a 21' rsv4 and 23' s1k. Videos don't do this bike justice on HOW GOOD it sounds... I have the gp22 and it sounds so unique. It might not be the best looking bike but it performs so damn well and sounds so good. The s1k in my opinion is much better for the street. It has a comfier riding position by a little, BMW's quick shifter makes the rsv4 feel very dated, and overall just feels so smooth at all rpms. Not mention, the 23' s1k's look SO good. Oh yes.. My rsv4 also has been to the dealer for oil leaks 5 times, and is going back again here shortly.
I never had a problem with static suspension as long as you get it set up for YOU. I use my bike for all uses...most uses. I cant stand being in a cage in traffic i go insane. I loved my 18 RSV4 but I've gone to the devil since owning Panigales. Looking at a 23 SP2 right now. Waiting for a wire. I will agree w/ you on sound. Ducati cant come close to the sound of the RSV4 with that SC Project pipe... i had the same set up and i LOOOVED it. So loud id scream through the streets watching pedestrians walking then stop to turn and watch me. Haha i don't get that in my Ducs. 😆 Early 40's here and yea i love rolling up to the gym on my bike. It makes me feel better than i should LOL
Thank you for the review very nice therefore think about adding visual data when you talk about data that need to be express in number like the speed, the price and so on... As a viewer its more convinient to absorb the information.
I had a 2020 Tuono Factory and loved it. Other than a battery which lasted less than a year, I had no problems in 3000 miles. And the sound...the best. I had to swap the CRT out for an Akra though because it made my ears practically bleed. Current bike is a 2023 Hayabusa.
Great vid. The flashing fuel light is a faulty fuel sender which is a warranty issue and quite common on the 2021+ Tuono V4 Factories (as they sell more of these). Get it changed under warranty before it runs out. Usually happens when the tank is full of gas. I am looking to sell my V4 Factory due to the engine heat issues. Just cannot live with it anymore. Better when a race can and. map is fitted but I want to leave the stock can and it just runs to overheat shutdown far too often. Has to go, even though I love the bike. ☹☹
Thanks for the heads up... I've been lazy to take it to the dealer.. they will ask me to duplicate the issue when I am there but how do I do that? Even if I leave it with them.. its a 50/50 chance they will get it when they ride it... This is why I haven't gone to them cuz its random.
@@bobcarter5548 Hmm.. Good tip. I think I may just let the GoPro roll the next time I am riding. Sometimes, I fill up and like 2 miles later, it starts flashing.
Same for me on the Tuono. I had the tank sensor changed and no joy. It was the sensor on the fuel pump (so new pump of course as integrated) and as your symptom seems the same it is likely this also. Dealer did not have this so they are now fitting it this Thursday. No issues on warranty. just let the dealer know there should be no pushback. They all do it.
R1 is very outdated and you’d have to put a lot of money into it to make it good. Stick with RSV4.. buy preowned 22+ to save $$ and most likely the previous owner solved all of its gremlins.
I agree with you. Had only the 2016 RR, but it was a lot of bike for the price and will anytime buy an Aprilia again. Never had issues and that exhaust breath music. Even the 2016 electrinics saved me and took it out of slide so beautiful. Love Aprilia.
hello thx for good review, i live in a hot city and i use my bikes in city and sometimes in traffic this bike can have a overheating issue? and is it ok for 300/400 km rides between cities ? im 188 cm fit sporty guy, and i read on forums this bike have oil leaks and coolant/overheating issues is it correct?
If you going to test ride this, just dont. It will haunt you till you bought 1. It hard to desribe it how fulfilling it is when you squeze that throttle, the sound and the pull.... man its heaven
Great review. I ride a 21 RSV4 1100 Factory. Can't agree more with everything you've said. I've owned an 2011 R1, s1000rr gen 1, had a 2019 RSV4 RR which had some reliability issues. But despite of that I'm still riding the RSV4 again. I'm from India and the service support is simply shit. We source parts ourselves, apparently there's no such thing as warranty here in India. We pay really high prices here for these bikes. Costed me 36k USD. Despite of all this, nothing comes close to this in terms of pure riding pleasure for me.
We mostly ride them during weekends on highways. We don't use these bikes for daily commuting within the city. Most of us have smaller bikes for that. I just sold my ninja 300. Now waiting for the RS457. I saw it during the Indian GP. We'll get the bikes first since they'll be made in India. I'll let you know more on them soon. Yes road sense is crazy out here. Riders who can ride here in India can ride anywhere in the world. 😂 And weather here in south India is actually very pleasant. It's nowhere close to how bad it was during the Indian GP last month in Delhi which is up north. I was at the Indian GP. It was too hot even for us. I can imagine what it would have been for the riders in leathers. Jorge Martin almost collapsed after the race.
@@farhankhan_rr Yep.. Indians are not only great drivers but also riders. I watched the IndianGP... I can't believe Jorge won despite how exhausted he was from the heat. What a warrior!
@@PetroHead I did. I seemingly missed it though my bad bro. Was watching it and my kids were playing in the living room as I was listening…..to the best of my ability 🤷🏽♂️💯
I have a Kawa 1000SX 2023 + a Aprilia RS660 2023, but I'm considering to sell them to get an RSV4 2024. I ride mostly on road, maybe next year I can try the tracks. I was wondering which version of RSV4 I should get, Factory or standard? If I well understood the factory is better suited for the road conditions with his active suspension. What your advice?
These are expensive bikes so mostly older people can afford them. A lot of times these are too aggressive and older people find it difficult to ride so they trade for a Tuono or something else. Other times it has issues and they don’t wanna deal with it so they trade for something else. In either case.. who cares.. find lowest mile / cheapest one with warranty.
I had an 02 r6 that i loved but nothing compares to how my 21 rsv4 factory makes me feel when i ride it. That SC Project GP22 is ridiculous - luckily ive had no reliability issues with mine
Ducati is owned by Lambo which is owned by Audi. The Italians design and make it fun to ride and the Germans oversee high manufacturing standards so I disagree about being just as unreliable. Watch what happens if a German manufacturer buys Aprilia.
@@PetroHead That's not really how things work. The parent company might be German now, but all that's done is allow for more financial stability and possibly more investment. Ducati is still pretty much its own concern when it comes to R&D and assembly.
Aprilia does know what’s going on. The standard line is to gas light the customer because anything else is liability. What happened is covid and all the issues this causes to supply and manufacturing. Lock downs, supply constraint, staff impacts translating to quality control impacts
Wouldn't a v4 panigale be better than the v4s for track considering it has manual suspension? The v4s is electronic suspension and better for the street imo. The base is significantly cheaper. If you wanted to upgrade to better manual suspension you could for less than the price of the s
@@PetroHead i actually watched all of it yesterday, but the thought sprung into my head today, must have remembered wrong, my fault! Been loving your vids though! Have a 22 factory myself 😊
@@PetroHead haha no way man! You convinced me to go from my LV exhaust to an SC CRT. Also, the video you made about removing the servo was super helpful because I got hung up on that random zip tie behind the frame lol I appreciate all the videos you make and watch pretty much watch all of them, keep doing what you're doing man thanks!
I guess if you ride these bikes like you think you're a super hero and add costly mods there's bound to be problems. Ionly put an Akro exhaust and had the dealer (AF1) tune it for the exhaust. These bikes are so much fun. I got my '24 Tuono Factory 2 months ago and somehow have almost have 2k miles on it.
What I meant was that you’re the ‘compliant type’ to always go by the books. They don’t like people like me because I buy a 20K race bike and put a race tune and exhaust. I’m such a negligent owner.. sheesh. 🙄
@PetroHead haha.. yeah, I hear ya. Sheesh. At the end of the day, we end up at the same place. Home safe with a huge smile on our face. Keep the videos coming. Ride safe, Keep living your dream.
I was at the Aprilia riding experience in Italy. I don't have an Aprilia. During the initial breafing the Aprilia staff was showing off about the reliability of Aprilia bikes. A bunch of riders, Aprilia's owners, could not hold their laughes.
I have to say i agree with you that the RSV4 is a fantastic daily. If you value Italian, sound, speed, performance, value... yea its your bike. If you want tech go BWM, if you want sex and ego go Ducati, If you want reliability go Honda, If you want art go MV Agusta, if you want pure straight line speed go Kawi H2, I view Yammies as very smooth... but each brand has its own reason for being. I love em all i wish Porsche made an RSV4. V4S bike... ugh could you imagine. Im not a german bike guy but id hope on a Porsche bike so fast. I can see it in my mind. Id love to see a bike from Mazda. Zoom zoom and if Subaru made bikes they would be adventure. Which would be awesome. I love motos.
Had a euro 5 Tuono v4 briefly that rode decently enough, but only in-between overheating and shutting itself off multiple times, every - single - ride. Aprilia dismissed the issues. Aprilia's quality, fit&finish, and reliability is laughable compared to any of it's competitors. I'm glad I sold mine when I did as they aren't even accepted as trade-in's around here due to all the problems. The engine is a lot of fun if you manage to win the lottery and get an RSV4 that doesn't randomly pull to the right, have bulging gas tanks and panels, dropped bolts in-transit, or overheat when riding under 60mph. 10 minutes on the forums and you'll see the plethora of nightmare RSV4 posts. If you need to use the dealership for anything, skip Aprilia unless you are in a great relationship with your service advisors and mechanics. Only spending effort writing this in the hopes it saves someone from the absolute agony that my brief Aprilia ownership caused me. Worst bike ever.
My first bike was an Aprilia Shiver 750. Had no issues with it. I wanted an RSV4 but went with the M1000r due to lack of Aprilia dealers in Canada near me, and the better reliability and looks of the BMW. Still have a soft spot for Aprilia but I wouldn't buy one now.
Good luck with the bike but honestly you'll have more fun and an engaging ride on something like a Triumph 765RS or the new Daytona 660 and save a shit load of money as well.
Awesome dealer! You’re lucky to have good dealers like that. Most are shady.
I know you do not often hear this, but thanks for your unbiased and detailed review....I appreciate your hard work. I was torn between this bike and the S1krr. You earned a sub!
Thank you!
No issues or warning lights but I guess its because I hardly ride it. ;)
Keep it up @PetroHead... your channel has good stuff!
Ya the RSV4 is as good as it gets but why garage queen it? I feel bad if I don’t ride mine hard or beat it up on track days.
Haha
A true biker will put tons of kilometers on their bikes no matter what ! Having it sit there just to look at is a real shame !! Sorry.
Yeah, the Apes are a sweeter bike IMO. The sound alone is a key element.
Totally get it bro... Cant blame you
Ohlins forks can be fragile.
@hipposnakeyo I'm sorry to hear that bro.
Great review! Words fall short... this bike is mental...go ride one. No issues at all! I am obsessed with my Rsv4 Factory!
Awesome!
It’s all a mindset. Work out, eat well, stay mentally sharp. I’m 49 as well.
Hahaha…. Welcome to Aprilia ownership my friend.
Sucks when trying to plan trips or track days. Hopefully they fix mine so i. An ride it. Its amazing when its running proper
Mine failed at a track day.. wasted hundreds of dollars that day. What a waste.
Hey. I was getting urgent service warning light as well within 15 miles after buying. Took it back and they changed coolant mix to 70/30 coolant/water from 100% pure coolant. Hasn’t overheated in a year, with 10,000 miles so far. I’m not the only one it has happened to apparently.
@@stugg was the tempurature running high then?
I held nothing back in this review as I have nothing to gain or lose... That being said -- will you buy one or go for the competition?
Since I first heard that V4 10 years ago, revving high and approaching from the distance, I dreamt one day owning an RSV4. Last weekend I sold my Tuono 660 and got Tuono V4 2022 same day, with 2000 miles and Arrow Pista pipe. That engine is really something special. I can't get used to power, always brings smile to my face. And when I start it up in the garage it's literally shaking everything around, waking up dead.
Like I said in my video.. it’s the best V4 on the planet that has ever been produced.
Just picked up a new ‘22.
The RSV4 moves through space and time like a hot stripper through Vegas! Awesome:)
lol 😂 this comment
Can you ride this bike for a day? Or would you be crippled
Thanks for this video. I’m debating between this and the Tuono. I’ve ridden nothing but super sports since 1998, other than my MT-10 which I absolutely loved for the added comfort. Either way Aprilia here I come 🎉
Love your review. Greetings from Europe BE. Ninja 1000SXSE owner.
Lucky you! And that’s exactly how I felt at the track thrashing this thing around at full chat.
Keep it up man you loon great and seem healthy
Don't let your health get away of you
You have made the more honest review ever. Thank you for this video.
You’re welcome!
Read pinned comment.
If I could have three bikes, it’ll be one of them. As my only bike? Naaahhh… too risky. They are beautiful and sound amazing.
Ya, if I didn't have my Triple, I'd get rid of this like a bad habit.
Totally agree not a motorcycle for a single motocycle owner especially if it's thier only vehicle. Too risky.
Thanks for another in depth review! I really enjoy them.
You're welcome!
After my first test ride at the RSV4 factory today being a Tuono 1100 owner , I can't agree more , this bike is out of the world , true track weapon and keeps the flag of be a racer high

Great review! Doing a RSV4 demo ride on sept 30th. Coming off an 21 MT09 which was my first road bike.
Good review
16:00 What happened with fuse number 5 in the end?
How has the bike been since making this video, any more issues or does it seem alright now that those initial few things got sorted?
Fuse #5 got resolved on its own and no more pops but bike has gremlins.. lol
@@PetroHead That's kind of weird.
I'm really on the fence with getting a tuono, my thinking is it will likely be both the most fun street bike and the most frustrating at the same time. Which is fine. But I promised myself I'd test ride several different options before buying something this time, so we'll see.
Yep.. your thinking is 100% accurate. My advice.. buy pre owned because the guy before you would have had already dealt with all the issues if any.
Great video, very informative!😊
Did you try WOT? You should see my arms.. completely disproportionate to the rest of my body 😂
Off topic your living room is nice and simple. No clutter.
And the ambient lighting looks nice and relaxing too
Amazing video! I have a rs660 and I’m looking to get a RSV4 in the future
Great review very detailed.
The BEST video. Thank you for this video. If I’m lucky I’m getting a 24 this weekend !
Thanks.. Tell this to the guy who called me out on a click bait title (recent comments)
@@PetroHead this was by far the most informative video. Might be a stupid question but can you ride two up on this bike?
Yes, if you buy new, it will come with a pillion seat. I’ve removed rear pegs obviously for that race bike clean look.
If you have a spare bike, an RSV4 is a good choice like I mentioned but if its your only bike, it will cause separation anxiety for sure lol
Oh, the RSV4 would/will be a second bike for sure. (Making an offer tomorrow.) My love can’t tolerate loud machines. And I’m unfulfilled without one. Or two:)
What is your height?
Great video, I agree with everything you said. I have the 21 rsv4 factory and the 21 bmw s1k M, but the Aprilia gets the most attention.
It’s that engine and sound. Kinda like dating a super model.. she may be a pain in the pass but she’s smokin hot to be with lol
Question: how tall are you? I want to love the rsv4 but it seems small and I'm 6'2"
Ergos will be a bit tight but you can modify. The sound alone is worth the purchase.
@@ApriliaRacer14 I got a 2007 rsv factory. Low bars compared to my s1000rr but Uber cool in the black and gold.
I have one, same problems.. trade for a factory Tuono had that problem with the fuel ligth!! Is the float sensor..
Is that something I can replace myself or dealer?
Well, probaby you should go to the dealer if still on warranty, or find a good mechanic
What was wrong with your gasoline injector.. like what symptoms did you notice?
@@PetroHead I simply took the bike for a ride and the engine failure warning that should go off when you're driving was still on and wouldn't go away, so I decided to go to Aprilia to have it checked and along the way I noticed that it didn't sound the same. Especially when starting. I didn't notice a huge lack of power but it was obvious that something was not right. They told me that an injector sensor failed and I think they fixed it with software and until today everything is ok✌🏻✌🏻
Cool glad it all worked out.
No matter how cool a motorcycle looks or what the rear wheel horsepower is, if it's in the shop more than I'm riding it, it's GONE!!!
I could only get to 188 on my RSV4 but i know that was the 18 post current engine but still.
Did I read this right.. you put 14,000 miles on it? Hell ya! Mine has 4K
I changed my pads after 5,000km 😅
Nice riding... 🏍 keep up the progress
Do the wire mod if you're starter issue is slow cranking on hot starts. $5 fix.
I’ve had loads of bikes, including a Gen 3 BMW S1000RR a 2018 Tuono 1100 V4 Factory, Gen 6 ZX10R, 2023 BMW S1000R M Sport (amazing electronics - a bit dull to ride if I’m honest)
The Tuono had electronics that were technically less refined than the S1000R, but the Tuono would ignite your soul. The BMW… meh…
I agree with you, the Aprilia V4 is the best sounding V4 period!
I wish this had been available in my area when I got my R1. I found the 2017 RSV4 to be a bit too cramped for my tall frame
No way I just watched you do a soundbar review last night… and now one on my dream bike… was that the same channel or a different one?
Haha.. I have multiple channels.. I get around lol
Hi! 6 months later, would you say that the alarm issue is fixed?
@@edmc_eu no. Its been in the dealers again. Error codes relates to Throttle bodies
@@PetroHead They dominated for a while with the RSV4. I'm not sure they have much to prove to be honest.
By owning a racing team, they’re just an advertisement for the brand. Not sure they need the advertisement.. Aprilia is also a very small company.. that could be it.
This video is on point!!!!!
The last part 😂😂😂
Where is the leaking occurring?
Where was the leak?
Every Day my Best Bike 🙂
Buah hah…I have the SC Project CRT and have definite hearing damage. 😎
Sweet vids brah
Which year's of production have the least amount of problems?
I want one, but I'm thinking of a RSV4 1000RR like a older one.
Looks like you’re in San Diego? I am as well on an RSV4
I have actually tried to buy the RS4 Factory and just couldn't do it and I love everything Italian But I can't have wait for anything and won't!
Have you had any oil leaks so far?

Amen my brother!!!!
@@PetroHead I took short video clip on the phone and sent it to the service department. That was enough.
Do you recommend the APRILIA RSV4 2023 VS THE YAMAHA R1?
100% agree.. I wish I didn’t test ride one lol
Thank you! Damn.. you’re a super rich Indian!
@@PetroHeadhaha not at all man. It's all about priorities. I spend all my money on motorcycles 😁
@@farhankhan_rr How is riding a crazy fast motorcycle possible in India with billions of people and crazy drivers? (and the heat!)
And weather here in south India is actually very pleasant.
Which tune do you have on your RSV4 though? I can’t decide between Gabro or Bren tune
Gabro.. watch the video
@@PetroHead I did. I seemingly missed it though my bad bro. Was watching it and my kids were playing in the living room as I was listening…..to the best of my ability 🤷🏽♂️💯
I did a video on the tune.
Just out of curiosity, why do you not include the Honda CBR1000 Fireblade as one of it's competitors? Is it because it's not European?
I completely forgot about that one honestly lol
I have a Kawa 1000SX 2023 + a Aprilia RS660 2023, but I'm considering to sell them to get an RSV4 2024. I ride mostly on road, maybe next year I can try the tracks. I was wondering which version of RSV4 I should get, Factory or standard? If I well understood the factory is better suited for the road conditions with his active suspension. What your advice?
Buy a used base 22+ model and save money (and plus the previous owner already sorted issues you will have buying new).
@@PetroHead I have a used one on sight which is a 2022 RSV4 factory for 22.990$ (3600km) instead of 27.995$. Looks like a good deal?
You’re saving 5K.. negotiate a lil or get them to give you free extended warranty.
@@PetroHead I found another one at the same price but 350 km only. Why people are reselling it so fast?
These are expensive bikes so mostly older people can afford them. A lot of times these are too aggressive and older people find it difficult to ride so they trade for a Tuono or something else. Other times it has issues and they don’t wanna deal with it so they trade for something else. In either case.. who cares.. find lowest mile / cheapest one with warranty.
well, I have 2021 Tuono v4 non factory model, almost 2 years, none of one problem yet, it's about 5000 ml on it. will see.....
Love this Bike, Can you please let us know about its reliability!
Ya.. watch again and don’t skip around this time smh
I had an 02 r6 that i loved but nothing compares to how my 21 rsv4 factory makes me feel when i ride it. That SC Project GP22 is ridiculous - luckily ive had no reliability issues with mine
16:27 The Ducati isn't much more reliable. The electronics may not fail so much, but the engine fails 🤷♂️
Ducati is owned by Lambo which is owned by Audi. The Italians design and make it fun to ride and the Germans oversee high manufacturing standards so I disagree about being just as unreliable. Watch what happens if a German manufacturer buys Aprilia.
@@PetroHead I know people with new Ducatis who have them in workshops because of a blocked engine
By the same token, I’ve also heard Toyota and Honda have issues as well but it’s rare.
My Ape factory has 0 issues, my Duc locked up already bought it new in 22
@@PetroHead
That's not really how things work.
Have you ridden an Aprilia Tuono v4 1100? in my opinion better bike for street riding and few track days a year.
Gearing is too tall on rsv4.
I've ridden the previous gen Tuono... search the channel for the review. How is a naked better than a full fairing sport bike on the track?
@@PetroHead not on track, I meant in daily traffic.
You said track.
@@PetroHead sorry, I meant all round bike for street and few track days yearly. Great channel by the way.
Ps. English is my third language 💁🏻♂️
Wouldn't a v4 panigale be better than the v4s for track considering it has manual suspension? The v4s is electronic suspension and better for the street imo. The base is significantly cheaper. If you wanted to upgrade to better manual suspension you could for less than the price of the s
You skipped around when I talked about this now you’re asking lol.. I don’t get it.
@@PetroHead i actually watched all of it yesterday, but the thought sprung into my head today, must have remembered wrong, my fault!
Been loving your vids though! Have a 22 factory myself 😊
No worries.. I was like wait a min I covered that… bah must be another unappreciative ‘video skipper’ haha 😂
@@PetroHead haha no way man! You convinced me to go from my LV exhaust to an SC CRT.
Also, the video you made about removing the servo was super helpful because I got hung up on that random zip tie behind the frame lol
I appreciate all the videos you make and watch pretty much watch all of them, keep doing what you're doing man thanks!
Aces high my friend
Its so weird, i have a 22 RSV4 and i have had zero issues with it
Mileage?
@@PetroHead about to hit 6k, and i'm in the desert. so the bike is running in 100f environment most of the time.
Good shit you got lucky.
I love this bike i have always been a mega fan of. v4 Bikes, btw we are almost the same age. calling us middle aged :P
You're a dealers dream customer.
@PetroHead ha nope.. made them give me discounts. But hey, I did the trail tidy myself.
😂😂 I wish I was there
About 80,000 miles on Tuonos for me and the only issue I've had was the
not to many knows about this: ify ou ever sit on a V4 aprilia and ride minimum 50 km distance , after that you wont ever sit on other bikes
Only until urgent alarm or oil starts leaking lol
@@PetroHead if you have the right tools you can be happy with this bike ;)
The problem with the ducati is the astronomical prices for their aftermarket exhaust. No thank you
Is this a bait video title ? Haven’t watched it yet.
Yes it’s clickbait, don’t watch it.
@@PetroHead reverse logic. Clever.
No seriously.. all my videos are clickbait... most are a waste of time. Avoid.

Traitor! 🤣😂😆😘 Ape family wants you back.
Dont drive with no hands on the handlebar
Unless you’re PetroHead
Good luck with the bike but honestly you'll have more fun and an engaging ride on something like a Triumph 765RS or the new Daytona 660 and save a shit load of money as well.
