@@hughbatchelor8599 nice bright orange gasket maker and bottom end is very new looking. I’m suspicious of the piston and ring(s). New plug runs great, then throttle bogs after about an hour or so. Hoping it’s just running rich, but when I pull the plug, it’s pretty black.
@@48blackshadowcafe32 A sooty but dry plug is definitely a rich mixture. Your main jet may be too big. Funny the bike I have here bogs badly from mid to full throttle, but I suspect the plug. Just waiting for a new slide spring then I can try again. BTW, cheap after market carbs are not a wise buy on the whole. Best to buy genuine or rebuild and clean the old one thoroughly.
@@hughbatchelor8599 the plug is wet in oil and black, so I’m thinking the worst. it was free and came with a crappy carb. Just didn’t want to dump too much money in it until I at least had spark. I don’t know why when people take things apart, they don’t save original parts in a box somewhere so when people like me end up with it, I can at least work with it a bit.
@@48blackshadowcafe32 I agree, as so many people don't know what they are doing and make things worse. I just got lucky. I nought on auction a non runner tatty Honda TRX 400FA for AUS$357.00! I changed the oil, cleaned the carb, replaced the inlet manifold and put a new starter on it and it fired up straight away. I also partially repaired the meter to discover it had only done 7000kms in 20 years from new. Engine sounds almost new so I am well happy. I will put this engine into my 59000km bike which is in good condition in every other respect.
The sealant around the rocker cover is how Suzuki seals it. No gasket, but that being said, it does look like after market sealant.
