Red Cheese Tamales | How to make masa for tamales

- Hi sweet friends! Today I am sharing my red cheese tamale recipe with you. I first tasted these in Guanajuato Mexico which is where I grew up and I have been obsessed ever since on attempting to recreate the recipe and here it is.
INGREDIENTS:
Chile Sauce
4 Chiles Guajillo amzn.to/389tdTb
2-3 garlic cloves
1/4 onion
1/4 tsp oregano amzn.to/3uPH1Mc
1 1/2 cups water
-boil the water, place the chiles in the boiling water for 5 minutes, until they soften
-allow this to cool
-once cooled place all ingredients in the blender including 1 cup of the water used to boil the chiles
-blend and set aside
Cheese for Masa
1-8oz queso fresco
1 cup mozzarella cheese
-shred both cheeses very finely and set aside
Masa
2 1/2 cups butter or vegetable shortening ) I use a mixture of both
1/2 bag Maseca para Tamal (approximately 4-4 1/2 cups or 2.2 lbs) amzn.to/3rdJKNr
1 tsp garlic salt or all purpose seasoning
1 tsp tomato bullion amzn.to/3bX9HKB
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp baking powder
1 cup chicken broth (I made it using 1 tsp powder chicken bullion and 1 cup of water)
2 cups of the red Chile sauce we made in the beginning
