It’s called the 5th Quarter and it’s traditionally done between HBCU bands.

Omg, I'm not sure if LSU and Southern need to be playing football on the regular (although it was fun!) But these Bands need to be coming together like this allll the time. Loved this and the halftime show as well, especially when they were out there together!

In the HBCU band world, we call this exchange 5th Quarter.

Is the mainstream media starting to realize how huge the College marching band market is? I wonder which station will begin boosting their rating by starting to broadcast the Pregame/Zero quarter, and post game/5th quarter battle of the bands along with the game. I though they would have been noticed that vacuum by now. Especially since battle of the college bands are just as big of a market as football, particularly in Louisiana. lol

They don’t do 5ths like we do. Let’s leave it that way. They take everything else.

As far as the actual football game is concerned. it was like Mike Tyson fighting against MIke Spinks. I think SU team did it just for the money without sacrificing themselves too much. This game should have featured just the bands who did an excellent job as usual. Again, I'm really impressed by LSU's band. they sound really good.

When SU played "Moonlight"..it sounds like a horror movie. 'GET OUT"
I'm pretty sure that's what LSU band was thinking. Sitting way over on the other side like strangers.😆
Look like them tubas was shaking that stadium, then you had the bass drums right behind. ua-cam.com/video/0V5esQ4J4jw/v-deo.html

LSU band never competed. They don't have the band strength to go quarters
      against Southern.
All they did was host SU band. I'm sure LSU students want to think that it was a battle. NO WAY!!!

LSU don't know nothing about quarters. Why you think they were so far away.
If they really wanted to get down with SU, they would have been right next to them.
At least they could have made it look real.
LSU have a nice Symphony band, but they're not ready for that Human Jukebox Power. 💪🏽
So I can understand why they were so far away.

Yeah that’s because people don’t know that LSU has a Good Director who graduated from Jackson State and was section leader of the Brass line in the Sonic Boom of the South. So that’s why Tiger band is getting amazing arrangements. I am good friends with that director. Tiger Band been needing a good director that will branch out and have the kids explore more than just the regular stuff that the band plays. This is an example of that. Be able to battle against SU. And as far as better than FAMU. Both FAMU and LSU are on same level when it comes to sound but as far as music choice. They are both different. Plus both LSU and FAMU have a Sudler Trophy. Something a lot of colleges don’t have. Hopefully SU will have a chance to get the Trophy soon.

You can tell that LSU doesn't do quarters when it comes to bands because they sat themselves so far apart in the stadium when they could have been right next to the SU
band. At least it would have looked real. They're PWI's bands that want to consider themselves one of the best, but they play with their notes on their horns. But when it comes to the HBCU bands...you don't see that.
If a PWI's want to battle with an HBCU, they have to memorize their notes. You can't battle with notes. That's called "cheating".
About the game. I thought SU football team would have put on a better showing since it's their first time playing LSU and it's an in state game.
They had SU band that's well known all over the world on the ground. Their tubas hugging the band, their drummers and symbol players were INSIDE the band. 👎🏿
The Fabulous Dancing Dolls didn't get the exposure to the public like they should have. 👎🏿 Their also well known over the world.
I'm glad they had another great halftime "PERFORMANCE" 💋
While LSU was setting comfortable in a high spot with their Golden Girls. 🤔

The SEC has a rule about visiting band placement that they have to be on the ground. That’s why they were put where they are. You’ll find the same thing in any other band coming to any SEC stadium

@@ljsmixbox44 as far as I know, at least the past few years, but imagine it’s been longer that they get put there for spacing and ticket pricing reasons. Every conference has its own rules about band placement. For example, if you saw the thing about the University of Texas band putting opposing bands in the nosebleeds, that’s a rule for their conference I believe. Take this with a grain of salt as this is what I’ve been told by people in those conferences bands

I love the sound of the LSU Tiger marching band . I love anything dealing with corp style marching bands ,though LSU isn't corp style . They don't have a pit section . When I consider the best marching bands in America they're all corp style programs , be it the Minute Men of Umass , James Madison Marching Dukes ,Jacksonville Southerners and Georgia Redcoat marching band . No disrespect but other programs outside of corp style is simply not on my radar . This is from a hard corp DCI fan here . Oh ! and DCI is the CREAM OF THE CROP .
