    The musical clarity of the women is astounding. It’s clear that although the speed is difficult, their training allows them to keep up with it without any “spastic” motions. So clear. I don’t get that nervous feeling that they aren’t going to make it. Such agility without cutting any corners, amazing.

    I love this ballett. Superb - to me the girls have the specific Mozart - kick!🧡( With Mr. B. together of course.)

    Thanks for posting; I had never seen this. This must be fun for the dancers: lots of opportunities to be seen, and have your own bits. I especially liked the first theme and variations sequence.

    Thank you for this great opportunity to see the entire ballet. I've only seen duets before.
    Variations and corps de ballet are amazing. I couldn't be more grateful!

    I just came across this thank you very much. What a wonderful surprise. I saw Suzanne Ferrell's Company do it at Royce Hall. As a matter of fact I saw you there.

    Concertante used to be done by ABT. It was wonderful and should have been put into the NYCB rep. He also did a violin concerto which was recreated for a company in Oklahoma. This was the second Divertimento 15. The choreography of the first which was lost years ago.

      My sister was a dancer with the Tulsa Ballet Theatre and helped mount the recreation if the ballet. She has a really exceptional memory and watch tapes of the lost ballet at the Lincoln Center Library while visiting home.

    What a masterpiece! Such challenging solos beautifully executed! I’ve heard of Lauren Hauser but seeing her here, I realize what a phenomenal dancer she is! And of course everyone else. Sean looks amazing in this piece! The costumes are perfect, coloring, lightness, complementing the dancing perfectly. Balanchine didn’t choreograph much to Mozart (are there any others?), but in this piece, it just looks like one genius delighting in another. 😊

    Only making it public for a moment so another ballet master for the Trust can cop it.

      @maseratic boychik I saw Merrill Ashley dance it live, too, probably the first time I saw NYCB back in 1979. I've been a fan ever since.

      @maseratic boychik Unfortunately I've never seen Ballade. I wonder why NYCB never does that one?

    OMG, this is JOHN CLIFFORD, you partnered my niece's cousin's sister-in-law's sister, SALLY LELAND!! Cousin Sally used to say to my 3rd cousin that you were a fantastic partner!!! What a fun thing to see you name. My daughter's godsister studied in the School of American Ballet on West 66th Street, New York City, with a Russian woman named Anthonia Tumkovskie. Do you know her!!??

      Iain Davies-Hayle Of course. “Tummi” was one of the greatest teachers at the school in my day and a great friend.

    John, do you know who composed the cadenza from 26’ to 27’? The Mozart score just has two fermata chords.

    • @jcliff26
      @jcliff26  2 роки тому +2

      No. Probably whomever was the company’s concert master at the time Balanchine made this. Before my time.
