To the people talking shit about the crowd: It's an older crowd, they clearly enjoyed the song very very much, look at their reaction by the end of the song. They aren't going to get up and jump around like kids, they're sitting there respectfully listening to and appreciating the musicianship. They acknowledged how great the performance was at the end.
I think they were clapping because he was done? Decent cover though, much better than I could ever do, as well as I could not even get up in front of a crowd at all.
I was thinking the same thing. The crowd probably saw Rush live in the '70s. But they gave the kid a standing ovation at the end. Trust me, you'll get to an age when even a Duran Duran, Shalamar, Rob Base & DJ EZ-Rock, or Bee Gees song plays and your knees say, "Nope! Not happening. Just chair dance for now!"
I would personally like to thank everyone who has supported me in the comment section and by watching the vid! I also want to give you a quick update about the channel, I plan to do some more covers maybe some more rush ;).. I will also being doing some videos on gear and guitar playing and general, I will probably do some more original material on the channel as well! I'm going to play it by ear and would appreciate some feedback on what everyone is interested in! Thank you everyone again.
You are very welcome young man. Filling Alex Lifeson shoes on the guitar and singing Geddy Lee is a tremendous task in itself. You have no reason not to be proud of yourself. Again, your very welcome.
The Fumbo Muffin Right? It's a summer Blues festival in small-town Ontario. Like these old folks are supposed to be banging their heads to a cover version of a rock song that was a hit in the early 80s or something.
The Fumbo Muffin Do you know what the word "passive" means? So what if you think that the opening "riff" of this song is one of the best ever written in your opinion? What does that have to do with what I wrote about the situation presented in this video?
+The Fumbo Muffin You're acting like a child. The guy made a simple comment about a song - didn't even say it was a bad song & you start in. You do sound like you're on drugs. Grow up.
The time signature of the guitar part is difficult to keep on it's own. Singing on top of that is extremely difficult. His signal is extremely dry as well. No where to hide... Well done!
All three of you deserve so much Applause!! I've been a rush fan for almost 40 years and I'm 48 years old right now and this was awesome awesome AWESOME!! So well done!!!!
I've been practicing that intro riff for a month and still don't have it anywhere close to down. And singing Geddy's vocals at the same time... damn, dude. Great cover!
Christian, that was awesome!! I’ve been a Rush fan since ‘76 and I’m here to say that you’ve nailed that rendition of a great song. Keep rocking my friend!!
Christian, excellent show sir. Don't let the fact that what you're doing and have done is lost on most people slow you down, we have all been there. Hats off to you and the band, you guys rocked it!
Flawless. And can we talk about the bass player rolling up to the end of the song playing both his bass AND the keyboard at the same time?? You guys are great. I'm sad it took me over five years to finally see this video.
WOW WOW.............keep playing you guys. that song is a song i would never even try, and ive been playing for 50 years..............very nice, and hard to do as well
BOOM! These guys absolutely SLAYED this song. From singing the chorus over that arpeggio to the drummer playing Neil's part on a 4-piece shell pack with minimal brass, the bass player playing both the sequenced Moog riff AND the bassline BY HAND that Geddy normally played with pedals, and can we please talk about the fact that he's doing the piano hammers at the end from the studio version that not even Rush ever did live!? Mad respect for these guys. We are not worthy.
That kid got talent! The recording was high quality as well, nice. As a drummer, kind of tough to see SOR played on a three piece kit, but can't have everything.
Sounded like I heard one guy yell after “concert hall”. It was a great cover of a difficult song, unfortunately wasted in front of a very geriatric audience. Had that been in front of an audience full of people born after WWII it would have played to much cheering. Great job to Christian and the band. I’ve been in front of dead audiences like that myself many times. Kind of sucks the life out of your enthusiasm, so you really did a great job considering all that. A noisy audience has a way of getting the Adrenalin pumping. Awesome job on the vocal. Any Geddy Lee vocal is difficult to sing, especially his earlier stuff when he really sang in the stratosphere.
The Spirit of Radio is a very difficult song to cover for several reasons, however, you guys did a great job! I see and feel the passion & respect you have for Rush, much appreciated!
You're awesome Christian, your love to music is noticeable, i like it better when the band seems to be enjoying than when they try to look technically gifted, and the ones that criticized the bass player that keyboard fill is not as easy as it seems
I have a hard time believeing they sat on there ass when you guys were playing. The don't realize how tough this song is to pull off & even get close. The best cover I've heard yet.
He's playing Alex's riffs while singing Geddy's lyrics! Thats next level!
The only thing missing is, that he should look like Neil :)
Absolutely!
Hate to be that guy. Not really a Rush fan but pretty sure Neil writes most of the lyrics for Rush. Not Geddy.
@@JetWindTV hey if it wasn't you it would have been me saying it! what this person meant is melody.
For all you critics, try singing the lyrics AND playing that lick, I dare you!
Awesome kid!
Whoever dares to play this song live before an audience on stage deserves all our respects.
To the drummer - good job playing Peart with only a four piece kit.
With respect, only a non-drummer would say such a thing.
AMEN!!
Neil actually said he could play every Rush song on a four piece kit with no problem.
The only bug with the drummer was that he played too softly.
Great performance guys!!!👍🏻👍🏻
This guy doesn't even have a clue how good he actually is.One of hardest songs to play and sing. Absolutely Amazing.
How the heck does he sing over the main riff during the chorus?!!! That is unreal!!! Dude is insanely talented
This is actually not the most difficult in this song but still takes a lot of practice.
Decent cover though, much better than I could ever do, as well as I could not even get up in front of a crowd at all.
idc how old they are. if im there and im 80 im still on my feet
Yeah you're probably not going to see a bunch of baby boomers moshing at this time of their life.
That would be a hell of a sight though!
He was just a warm up act. They came here for the actual band
I would personally like to thank everyone who has supported me in the comment section and by watching the vid! Dude! You rocked it! I'm a 50+ yr old RUSH fan and would listen to you play any day! Keep RUSH alive! You rocked it!!!
I'm a Diehard RUSH fan. You killed it. That crowd is wack. I would have gone nuts if I was there. Great Job!!!!
You got real talent. Man, you just got it man. Hope it takes you places
Great job. Tight sounding band!
You are very welcome young man. Filling Alex Lifeson shoes on the guitar and singing Geddy Lee is a tremendous task in itself. You have no reason not to be proud of yourself. Again, your very welcome.
Great job Christian. I'm just sorry that the audience is in a coma.
Ah... The old "blame the audience" bag.
The Fumbo Muffin Right? It's a summer Blues festival in small-town Ontario. Like these old folks are supposed to be banging their heads to a cover version of a rock song that was a hit in the early 80s or something.

Dose anyone realize how hard it is to sing while doing that lick? As a guitarist I can tell you its very difficult.
Just curious, you can play this?
MultiCappie yes it's a very old song from the 80's by Rush but the hardest to learn for me was Van Halen.
Yeah it’s near impossible for me to play that while singing
The time signature of the guitar part is difficult to keep on it's own. Singing on top of that is extremely difficult. His signal is extremely dry as well. No where to hide... Well done!
@@syfman6 It's even harder when the second verse doesn't scan :-D
Bill Wyman - Guitar, Vocals
Conor McGregor - Bass, Keyboards
James Corden - Drums
That's funny. :)
aaah you beat me to the mcgregor one.
Hahaha
I was thinking Bill Wyman too.
Can we just take a moment to acknowledge how amazing that bass player was. Playing piano and bass at the same time? 🤯
Yes!
exactly 4:32
Love to the bass player....and drummer....they all killed it! AMAZING!!!!! TALENT!!!
Excellent. The audience roars with approval.
man oh man... FRIKKIN in tears....u have no idea what this song means to me...y'all nailed it...keep on rockin! love from Scotland
Space Pirate thank you 🙏
Singing and playing the guitar parts of this live without messing something up is a supernatural skill! Testament to true dedication.
gurleyz thank you lol it is a trickey one
I think the audience was overwhelmed. Look at the violence in the spontaneously forming mosh pit.
A really great performance in any case.
Yeah reminds me of Jonny b Goode from back to the future 😂
That was a perfect cover, even with the time signature changes. He can sing the high notes and shred that guitar!
I was laughing because he had difficulty with the low notes. Awesome job!
wow fantastic guitar playing and lyrics...phenomenal!
Great job...not an easy song on guitar, especially while singing. That's a pro, ladies and gentlemen.
I've been working on that song for 20 years and that was a great rendition, SMOKIN!
All three of you deserve so much Applause!! I've been a rush fan for almost 40 years and I'm 48 years old right now and this was awesome awesome AWESOME!! So well done!!!!

Daamn! The lead is difficult enough without singing as well. Great job!
awesome cover, and props to the bassist, excellent keyboard and hammer on technique
Christian, you are super talented. Never stop playing, you are incredible! Great work!
You Rocked it Hard, Christian! You are quite the Showman! Very Impressive! WOW! Loved it! 👏👏👏
That guitar sound was amazing.
top notch cover of one of my fave RUSH Songs.......great job!!!!!
Christian, excellent show sir. Don't let the fact that what you're doing and have done is lost on most people slow you down, we have all been there. Hats off to you and the band, you guys rocked it!
You have my respect brother! One of the first few licks i learnt on my guitar. Kudos! Keep rocking FOREVER!
Awesome performances of such an amazing song!!! Great job, guys 🙌👏👏👏👏
Bro that was fantastic. You deserve a better Audience than the one you were in front of.
👏👏👍! My applause as a fanatic Rush fan and guitar player who loves Alex Lifeson playing!
No smoke and mirrors here, like extra background guitar tracks. Just great honest live playing by all. Excellent!
Everyone was awesome ! Singer and guitarist was spectacular !!
This inspired me to play some Rush on my guitar . Cheers
Singing while playing the lead! Now that takes TRUE talent! AND he's got the 70s hair! Well done, kid! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
From Los Angeles 🇺🇸 , great and awesome job!!! All musicians were great!!!!
amazing job guys..wow..and with only 3 people..just like Rush.. a lot of Rush cover bands have 4 people..a stellar job..bravo!
Your voice really fits this song dude, excellent
that was ridiculously good!! 2thumbs up talent all around this 3 peice.
This is pretty damn good. I'd be rocking out if I was there.
hats off to a super tough song to perform. Singing and doing the guitar part was excellent. If people only know how hard that is.
Flawless. And can we talk about the bass player rolling up to the end of the song playing both his bass AND the keyboard at the same time?? You guys are great. I'm sad it took me over five years to finally see this video.
Nice job there. I love Rush and love watching bands cover them.
Excellent. Just wished the audience was more into it. Very talented young musician 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Loved every bit of that performance
Dude playing Lifesons riffs and singing Geddys parts while managing to get some sort of energy from a near dead audience : Am i a joke to you???
Dang, that's an ambitious song to play live! You did a great job!!!
Very great job ! The world audience loves it 👍🏻
AWESOME COVER Christian , I absolutely LOVE IT!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Out-freaking-standing.
Bravo! Fabulous performance.
Awesome! AWESOME!! Love it ... great job!
Agree about the audience being dead ... I would've been on my feet! ✊
I think Mr. Lifeson would approve!
some kid probably about my age (im 16) is kicking ass to a goddamn amazing song and the audience is just sitting there. what the fuck.
Thumbed up as soon as I saw the Les Paul and the microphone. Rock On, you got it going on!
WOW WOW.............keep playing you guys. that song is a song i would never even try, and ive been playing for 50 years..............very nice, and hard to do as well
Thank you, there are a lot of moving parts to it for sure!
Wonderful cover! Thanks! This song is very emotional for me....from Brazil
I think that RUSH would approve of this!! Awesome
Wow! Singing lead vocals and lead guitar! Impressive!!
FANTASTIC COVER! Great job by all. Thank you!

Great cover !!! Greetings from Poland.
I couldn't have just sat there. I would have to be on my feet, headbanging!
Freaking Awesome Job guys. Great job to the lead singer/guitarist.
FANTASTIC.Really great job.Not an easy thing to pull of singing and playing lead riffs too.Im sure Getty and Alex both would give you a thumbs up.

Wow! This is my favorite Rush song. Not an easy one to play much less play and sing. Very well done
Amazing rendition ! You did Rush proud, my friend!
Awesome performance! glad I stubble upon this!
Crazy good-like was said b4-playing Alex while singing Geddy. Insane......too bad it was at a retirement home......Good freaking job guys!!!!
I thought that was freaking awesome! Great job, all of you.
What a great cover of a great song by a great band. Im not entirely sure whats happening with the crowd. anyway, nice job.
agree
Keep it up young man . That was great. Everything was great. That was a treat to watch. Rush...
That kid got talent! The recording was high quality as well, nice. As a drummer, kind of tough to see SOR played on a three piece kit, but can't have everything.
Awesome! This is my number 1 song of all time! Love It!
It's been almost a decade since this was posted but I just wanted to chime in and say this was amazing! All three of you did an amazing job with this.
Knocked it out of the park! Awesome job!
You knocked it out of the park Christian!
If I would have been in attendance I would have completely lost my sh!t That was fantastic
Rush approves of this! great job
Wow! Nailed it. Awesome talent. This was really, really good!
Hats off to you Christian!! Bravo

Excellent Job, Christian..superb,,,by Rush fan standards.
Awesome Rush cover! Well done, Christian!
Lifelong Rush fan and very nice job on it. Keep it up!

WOW! I was getting ready to cringe, but damn! you nailed that!!
Awesome!!! Wonderful performance, boy! The best tribute to Rush I've ever seen.
Yo dude doing keys and playing bass at the same time, so freaking cool. You guys nailed it, mad respect.
Just like Geddy
Superb stuff from the whole band!! I’d have been out my seat from the start if I’d been there
Mike D maybe I will be playing near a venue near you within time! Thank you for watching and stay tuned.
I have a hard time believeing they sat on there ass when you guys were playing. The don't realize how tough this song is to pull off & even get close. The best cover I've heard yet.
Very Nice, amazing cover full band, greetings from Mexico 🤘
