I totally agree! I believe Strangetown is very much inspired from Area 51 🤓 The Sims were quite a bit ahead of it's time in that regard, don't you think?
Hiiiii just throwing this out there but i think the sims creators must have been Talking Heads fans! In their Road to Nowhere (same name as the strangetown road) music video we see a long road in the desert and a couple other scenes in a pool (and - this is very reaching - in the background of a couple shots, a building shape similar to the factory-like ‘’government building’’ which has been reconverted to a shop). Loved the video, ciao!
4:39 88 Road to Nowhere is a former “government facility” which was belonged to scientists and military. For example, grocery store was a canteen and it still has tables with chairs, magazines and discs store was a church and clothes boutique was an office because it’s still has writing tables with chairs. You can even see a trash can on the roof. A trash can. On the roof. While toilets were the one room where scientists watched for their test subjects in this small pool. You can even see a new wall in the toilet which isn’t even painted. As the amount of Strangetown residents increased all military bases were closed and renovated into civilian objects. While 94 Road to Nowhere, even if it is a public swimming pool also looks like former “government facility” as there is still an office in one room, or a lonely cashier in a small tower to which you can’t pay because he’s behind the wall. I think it’s also was renovated to civilian object. So that’s it.
Interesting theory about Bella's correlation to the hula zombies. With Bella's appearances (either in physical, object or spiritual forms, in nearly all within the Sim Multiverse), I think Bella (or her likeness/clones), is a valid and reasonable theory for Death's sidekicks: the Hula Zombies. For example, Bella's statue can be found in multiple expansions, dlc and spinoffs, as well as the Sims 4 base game (Belladonna Cove, Lunar Lakes, etc.). She can be found in books, paintings, as well as appearing in many Sims thoughts. Strangetown is definitely no exception, as one can easily speculate that something went awry with Bella's alien abduction, with her lack of memories, as well as the alien crash site. Is Strangetown Bella even the actual Bella or just one of the many clones sprinkled throughout the Simverse? I, along with millions of Sim Lore fans have lots of different theories. As for Strangetown, itself, the devs did create Strangetown with Area 51 in mind. I do not even think that they would foresee how much of an impact it would have on irl conspiracy theorists (lol). General Grunt (imo), seems to represent a militant conspiracy theorist, who denies science and believes aliens are preparing to take over the SimVerse. Olive Specter (imo), embraces the paranormal to another extreme, murdering innocent, as well as not so innocent sims to bring forth her one-true love, the Grim Reaper. Then we have the opposing scientific spectrums, the Curious Brothers and the Beakers. While the Curious Brothers crave to ascertain as much knowledge of aliens, agriculture, etc. to further enhance and benefit the SimVerse, the Beakers are narcissistic grifters that seek the aforementioned knowledge for their own nefarious reasons and gains, at the detrimate to anyone standing in their way (even going as far as bringing Death's son, Nervous, to be used as a mere prisoner test subject. Lastly (although the various side characters do indeed also play roles), is none other than the Smith family. Pollination Tech 7 (imo), craved to live amongst the sims, but because of his past pollination rituals, can be seen by many in the SimVerse as an evil force to be reckoned with, as well as harboring secrets that many sim inhabitants are trying to uncover (i.e. if Bella were to regain her memories, she could expose quite a bit of the alien secrets). Thank you for making this video, I look forward to viewing more, and am subscribing now❣
when I was playing sims 2 when I was a child, I was thinking about Strangetown as a rather random assortment of all kinds of things. I don't know if the game creators intended on what you've came up to, but in anyway that's a beautiful explanation of things, I enjoyed it very much.
@@Reese-sim Yw! 🥰 pheww… last time was like when Makin‘ Magic was released.. so I guess too long! 😂 wait… that was Sims 1… uhm … should be open for business! 😂
I always thought Strange town was inspired by Area 51 hence to the past and present military presence and it’s strong link with Aliens

I thought the pool was an old cooling pool from a nuclear reactor.
Interesting point! Thanks for sharing 😊 It's a really good thought, as that could also explain a lot of oddities in Strangetown
Strangertown was my favorite premade world in the sims 2. There are just so many mysteries in it!!
Mine too! And the more I look at it, the more mysteries I notice 😊 🤔
