  • Just wanted to address the amount of plastic water bottles we have at the moment (I'm pretty embarrassed watching this back). Yes, we've been slack refilling the our water filter system (when we cook with dried beans, it uses up most of the capacity of the Berkey to soak the beans and then again after draining that water and putting in fresh water to cook the beans - I really need to come up with a solution to this problem that doesn't involve buying a whole new water filter system just for doing the dried beans!). Also, summer time in Australia is full of environmental hazards as I'm sure you're all aware at the moment, so I do have some bottled water in the garage to cover us if there's an emergency. Please also keep in mind we're a family of 4 (sometimes 5) and it's the middle of our hot, sticky summer....so really I don't know how to keep us hydrated safely right now without a large outlay of money (I feel pretty crap every time I have to buy bottled water again!). Moving around a lot makes finding permanent solutions to these problems difficult too. We're on a journey to a more sustainable lifestyle but at the moment we've slipped back a couple of steps just because of our current life circumstances, and I'm trying not to beat myself up over it.

    -------------------------
    I'm an Aussie Mum of 3 teenage boys living in Regional Queensland whilst we decide what to do next (eek!). Our family of 5 lived in Europe for the better part of the past decade: in the U.K for 8 years and Germany for 18 months. We recently made the big move from Germany back home to Queensland, Australia and I am SO GRATEFUL that we have become more and more Minimal over the years leading up to this (hopefully) final monster international move. Having less stuff has made these transitions between countries and cities so much more doable!

    I’m an INTP and my apartment is an absolute mess. There’s 2 reasons why I don’t clean: 1. I categorically HATE the act of cleaning. It’s more than a chore. My body literally tightens up whenever I start cleaning. 2. Mess doesn’t bother me. Having said that, I do love the feeling of mental clarity after a proper clean.

      Yeah, my INTP seeks that mental clarity and that's why he tries to organise around his work stations. He clearly doesn't feel the same way about where he leaves his piles of clothes, haha...or all those empty water bottles littered around the house ;) lol. It's cool though...I get it! I do find it fascinating the way he loses track of his stuff though. I'm way more messy....but I always have a general idea of where something is...and I also have piles of clothes but I have a 'system' of sorts of knowing which pile is a rewear pile...which is a sniff it first before wearing it pile...and which clothes are dirty and should go in the next load of laundry. There is a tiny bit of method to my messy madness....but on the other hand if I went on holiday for a week I'd also have no idea which pile of clothes is which......I guess he just forgets the clothes the second they leave his hand and lands on the floor. Keeping track of things in the physical world is so stressful!!!! It's the number one reason I've tried to own less stuff....because I can't handle keeping track of any more stuff. Cleaning is pretty lame, I agree. As I've gotten older I've gotten much better with it :) I do think if I was completely mentally well then my house would probably be so much worse, lol.....I use cleaning when I'm feeling low or mentally lost. If I can grab a cleaning cloth and clean the bathroom mirror today, then I feel like I put something in order, can't get my head in order...but I can get that one mirror clean, ya know? If I was more sane, I wouldn't need to clean that bathroom mirror once a week ;)
      Thanks for your comments mick, I enjoyed reading them and responding :) :)

    Lol at how the first thing you see when you open your husbands side of the wardrobe is a book titled ‘KILL EVERYONE’.

    Thanks for the House tour lady! Yeah it’s nice to see “behind the scenes/ frame” to relate too. I read your recent long comment over on my channel just super busy to respond but as always appreciate the time you take in writing those!
    Hope all is good!

      Thanks for the comment Sean :) and you don't need to respond to my always ridiculously long comments...lol :) a heart is enough, I get that you're busy...and sometimes I say too much and there's nothing really to easily respond to which can take way more brain power to answer than say, a simple thought or question. Your video about messiness inspired me to hang it all out there and film my mess, lol. It was a bit long and probably boring, but ah well...I enjoyed making it and that's the important thing ;) Hope you're doing well and not working too hard.

    Vella 💕💕 “This is a box full of crap” - you’re literally the best 😂🙈 Those bird sounds are so soothing! Great video 💋

      Couldn't exactly tell you what's in the box full of crap....will confirm that the other day hubby was looking for stuff to get rid of as part of prepping to move in a few months...noticed box....asked me, 'what's this box?'....I said, 'it's a box full of crap from the last move' and he said....'oh'....and neither of us opened it....lol. We'll probably moan back and forth about someone dealing with 'that box' for long enough that eventually one of us will crack ;) If it's me that cracks I'll deal with it myself...if he cracks...he'll open it and then proceed to ask me about every single item....ugh...okay...I should just deal with the damn box!! Ty, the birds are beautiful here :) and Miss Vella is also an admirer of the birds...thus the bell on her collar 😊

    @9:15 re not having sorted out the donation of the books yet. I relate massively. See, to most people, little things like that are practically effortless. To me, an activity like taking a box of books to lifeline is intensely arduous. I don’t want to spend even five minutes of my existence doing menial crap like that. I honestly HATE it. Even going downstairs to put my work uniform in the wash is something I will delay for as long as possible.

    • @ChaoticallyMe
      @ChaoticallyMe  4 роки тому

      Yep, fellow INXP I feel ya! Menial stuff that needs doing for life to go smoothly is so frustrating! It's one of the key reasons two INXPs as a couple can be a little hairy at times....we both just magically want these things taken care of for us...but don't want to 1) do it ourselves or 2) organise for someone else to do it....both options sound lame! I cleaned the car today.....it's about 6 weeks overdue ;) lol....but today was the first day I 'felt' like cleaning it. Maybe I'll 'feel' like cleaning it again in a week...maybe not for another 6 to 8 weeks. I understand what you mean about HATING it...I do too...avoidance, procastination. Doing 'stuff' is kind of painful....unless we really 'want' to do it...or if it's novel and new...that's cool....but the same thing over and over?? nah!

      Thank you so much for your comment Amanda, sorry it's taken me a little while to respond :) Yes, having someone in your life that understands you and accepts you, quirks and all, is so important as an INFP! So glad you found it peaceful...for some I imagine my mess might be slightly offensive...mwahaha.

    How is sleeping on the floor going for you? I have done it before and I find that my body feels better afterwards and I also sleep more deeply. I always cave and end up back in my regular bed after a couple of days though.

    • @ChaoticallyMe

      It was really great on my back and my neck after I got used to it, but I've had to go back to my thin futon mattress on the floor in the last few days (so still really firm, but a little padded). Sleeping without the mattress I was starting to have shoulder issues...I think laying on my side on the hard floor with nothing cushioning the weight, I was cutting off circulation at my shoulder joint and I'd wake up with a numb arm on that side and pain in the top of my arm for the next day or two. If I could just force myself to sleep on my back then it would be perfect...but I always turn onto one of my sides whilst I'm asleep. The Japanese style futon mattress works great for me, it's just enough padding to support me when I sleep on my side but firm enough to iron out the kinks in my back. I've been sleeping on the futon on the floor for 4 years and I'll never go back to a regular mattress. My hubby is still enjoying sleeping without the futon (I just shoved the futon under my half of the top sheet and left his side as is)...he has a lot less body fat than me though...so maybe that's why his shoulders are fairing better? I just have too much weight coming down on that one spot when I'm sleeping on my side? Sorry probably longer response than you needed! lol.
