I was never an X-Men Fan growing up, just kind of my blank spot as a comic reader. But X-Men 97 has absolutely made me fall in love with these characters. I immediately ordered this Cyclops figure after watching the first two episodes and i feel like I'll have to pick up the entire team sooner or later
It was wonderful to see Cyclops get so much love and to see his powers but only uses creatively, but remembering his does shoot heat blasts from his eyes but concussive energy.
@5POAFigureReviews It finally clicked that that was what his powers did watching episode one. Really wish the smirking head could also take the concussion blast though, it feels like that scene's energy matches the head
I love the Cyclops! I'm glad I waited and didn't get the VHS one. I also really do like the head sculpt, and the optic blast is great, too! I really hope we get Jubilee in the next wave.
It's really such a shame James Marsden as Cyclops was not given a good script, but Hugh Jackman is the still the best Wolverine in live action and in animation both Cal Dodd along wirh Steve Blum are the best Wolverine voice actors and so are the 2 Cyclops voice actors from both X-MEN The Animated Series and X-MEN 97.
I have to say, ever since X-Men I have come to like James marsden, and would love to see him have a proper crack at the character if written as well as this cartoon is
I only have the Astonishing X-MEN Cyclops figure and this Cyclops is not yet back in stock on Amazon, But to me, I still will get this Jim Lee Cyclops because I really need him with that badass looking optic blast and I will get Jean Grey along with Kurt Wagner aka Nightcrawler soon, Overall, Cyclops still looks very cool and yes, "To me my X-MEN".
I finally got to order him tonight for a fair price, $3 over retail from Amazon. His face sculpt is a little soft, definitely has fuller cheeks than he should, but I’m okay with it. That’s the only quibble I have. I have the Astonishing X-Men Cyke and love it, but this is a must get. I had the Love Triangle set, but sold him and Jean. I also have the new Jean coming. Cable is also supposed to come next week, so it’ll be a Summers/Grey party!
My head was spinning throughout the whole premiere. In between the OG run and this, I've caught up on so much X-Men history in the comics, so this time I was picking everything apart, noticing which storylines got used and what little changes were made. And yet with the throwback to the 80s/early 90's on two fronts, it STILL felt fresh and exciting.
I got him right before his price jumped to $35 on amazon. Haven't opened it yet but I'm happy with the purchase. Too bad I missed out on wolverine before he became $60+
3:12 Where is the melty-faced Cyclops from? I find its “I must scream but I have no mouth” vibe strangely compelling… P.S. love the channel, keep up the good work 👍🏾
Thank you so much! That figure is from a wave called Monster Armor made in 1998 by Toy Biz. The assortment also included Mystique, Mr Sinister, Age of Apocalypse Rogue, and Wolverine.
I want this one...but I also want the Astonishing ver. I can't decide in between. I really like this version but Astonishing version looks so cool and his comic run was also cool. Plus I ship him with Emma Frost and I got Emma legend. I just hope I can somehow get both someday. Because choosing is so hard
Well the only thing I will say, is if you're only going to get one the question is going to be how important is it to you to have a matching team? So far we have not gotten a complete version of astonishing x-men, whereas building out the Jim Lee / animated version is no trouble. For whatever that's worth.
I gotta say i'm like in this line. I like the cardbacks in the consistency with all of them... Rogues face a little off, cyclops stupid goofy thin grin.. But not bad overall.
Yeah I am digging it so far. I'm probably skipping Storm and Gambit because I am happy with my retro cards, but I have videos coming for most everyone else.
Can we get a Headswap of 97 Rogue' head in Juggernaut Rogue's Body? I wanna kitbash it cause the Juggernaut Rogue's suit Colors fit more with my X-men but I really like the new Headsculpt more
Mr jason, would you sell any of your toybiz legends? I'm trying to find a toybiz juggernaut and it's impossible to find one that doesn't cost a liver or still has his helmet
Yeah totally, but I'd need you to be just a little patient with me because I have a video coming I need him for. After that though, sure! Contact me at 5POAinquiries@gmail.com or the 5POA Figure Reviews Instagram and we can discuss it further.
Something you missed in the comparison section: the optic blast effect can slot pretty comfortably in the Astonishing Cyke’s visor. It’s not sculpted to fit that figure but it still works great!
1 im not a fan od the head looks too boyish 2 shouldve used the renew your vows buck 3 vulcan buck has a built in hinderance the shoulder pegs are now longer and collide wity the track in the torso that sunfire buck ididnt have an issue with. 4 this cyclops is the NWH final swing of hasbro cyclops where for once he comes with enough accessories especially the optic blast.
That was a crazy opinion. A diaphragm being worse than a hinge is absurd. For Hasbro, it's bad. Do the joint right tho and a hinge+waist joint is a terrible articulation combination compared to a double ballpeg
I don’t care about BAF’s I’d rather have all figures on retro style card backs. Mcfarlane doesn’t include BAF figure parts in all of his items, so why does marvel legends have to do it every figure release? No other company neca, Jada, Valaverse, offer an extra figure for completing a wave. Marvel legends need to take BAF figures out completely. Fans don’t respect or appreciate it, but have plenty of complaints when it’s not offered. Hasbro get rid of BAF. Thank me later
Because Marvel Legends literally invented the concept of a BAF. Before, Marvel Legends waves only came out tied to a BAF. So much so that back in 2013, when Hasbro released waves without BAF pieces, fans complained
I definitely think they shouldn't have it all the time but also shouldn't completely get rid of it. For some waves a BAF is awesome. For some no BAF is just as awesome. It's all about Balance. I think McFarlane does it much better with having multiple waves not have BAF's.
I think there are pros and cons for BAF waves. For lesser known characters, including them with a more popular BAF means they don't just rot on shelves or never get produced, it also is a way to give characters that would not work in a retail environment (either due to size or complexity) a wider release than the older direct-to-market/fan channel systems. But it also means waves that don't make a ton of sense, like mixed comic and movie waves that upset people who only collect either one having to buy figures they don't want, or having to buy the same character again to get a BAF piece. I think McFarlane strikes a good balance with the mix of BAF and Non-BAF waves (especially with having a lower price for non-BAF waves) but I also won't pretend it's a perfect system. Imho, if Retro Cards were dropped down to 22-23, BAF releases were 25-27, and Deluxe releases were 30 and over, I think Hasbro would have a happy medium for everyone
I completely get where you're coming from, and for the record I agree with you that build a figures are not always necessary. I actually do like blister cards a lot, though I do prefer reusable window boxes. That said, my bigger frustration isn't that we don't always get a BAF, but that the waves which don't have them cost as much as the waves that do. McFarlane has two different price points for single issue and build-a waves, and unless Hasbro wants to load up the single issues with enough accessories to justify the price, I would prefer that they did that. That said I'm very content with the piece count and price for this particular item.

The new show is fantastic. Love the characterizations of everyone and it's the most justice Cyclops and Storm have been done outside of comics, ever.
I love the Cyclops! I'm glad I waited and didn't get the VHS one. I also really do like the head sculpt, and the optic blast is great, too!
I really hope we get Jubilee in the next wave.
I got him on mail right now, and yeah, I don't see the big issues with the face, like other people said. He is really good.

Cable is the only holdout I have from the Zabu wave. Glad you got him for a good price!

Agreed!
Very cool figure, My only gripe is that they made his visor gold when it's very clearly supposed to be yellow
Agreed, it is a big annoying
Great video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it

I had no idea they jumped that high, but I have heard rumors of them being restocked
That old toybiz headsculpt had me almost choking on my 'drink' 😂😂😂
Why is drink in quotes??? Lol
@@5POAFigureReviewsthat worries me
I was smoking but wasn't sure if it would get flagged lol
@@bagginsfrodos ah gotcha lol
on the next video, can you have a wide shot of the jim lee head swap warlock wave with 97 body? thanks.

You didn't review the shoulder. My Cyclops has issues with his left shoulder joint.

I'm trying to find Rogue. Anyone know where to get one without getting gouged by eBay?
Can we get a Headswap of 97 Rogue' head in Juggernaut Rogue's Body? I wanna kitbash it cause the Juggernaut Rogue's suit Colors fit more with my X-men but I really like the new Headsculpt more
I'm not sure which week I'm doing it, but I am going to be doing a Rogue Versus with the new figure, and will happily do the swap for ya
X men is great
indeed it is
What's weird is that Astonishing Cyclops doesn't have the glove line.
Astonishing X-Men cyclops had so much new tooling it was essentially a new body, just sculpted over vulcan, which is probably why
Mr jason, would you sell any of your toybiz legends? I'm trying to find a toybiz juggernaut and it's impossible to find one that doesn't cost a liver or still has his helmet

Invest on a brighter light 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Cyclops is cool but I need a beast action figure
Something you missed in the comparison section: the optic blast effect can slot pretty comfortably in the Astonishing Cyke’s visor. It’s not sculpted to fit that figure but it still works great!
I didn't mention it in this video, but I did show that in the Astonishing Cyclops video. Very cool!
1 im not a fan od the head looks too boyish

also are the mezco superman eye beams compatible also the other way around
Interesting! I will have to try that
I'm okay with Vulcan but overall I agree with you completely!

good review, not a X-Men fan but I assume I should try the old cartoon again, the crossover with Spider Man was nice
I love the interconnectedness of those old '90s Marvel cartoons. The MCU before the MCU
Just be sure to stop after Season 4. Season 5 is so ugly, it's hard to watch.
Instead of BAF parts, they should just be more creative and plentiful with accessories that work with multiple figures.
I'd be fine with that
What does Scott keep in all his pouches? He’s not batman
Maybe he likes to collect shiny rocks
