  • Winter can be kind of sad without any greenery around - so I started some tree seedlings in Pringles cans! It turns out that these cans make great seedling-starters and even after 3+ months in can, there was very little damage or deterioration. This was a fun project, and I hope you enjoyed! Now, time to find somewhere to plant these Kentucky Coffetrees...🤔

What a cool project! I hope we get to see when they get transferred to their permanent home 😁
I thought for sure the can might start to decompose since it didnt have a drainage hole but i love it and might try it with some of my students 😊

Thanks a lot! That would be awesome as a project for your students - I always wished I got more experience with growing plants when I was growing up. Best of luck :)

Changing the world for the better, one tree in a Pringle can at a time. Good job!

That's fantastic, would be great to see an update when they're ready to go into the ground.

Thanks a lot :) If I find a cool place to plant them, I may make an update!

Great idea for reuse, instead of buying specific deep root pots. I'd be interested in seeing how long they last over multiple seasons.

Even in proper nursery pots, these coffeetrees don't seem to grow much after one year. They really like getting their taproot deep into the ground, so unless I root prune them, they pretty much stop growing in pots. As soon as I put them in the ground though, they take off!

Did you put drainage holes in the can? Cool idea.

Very cool! I tried this over the winter but no luck. Around what date did you collect the seeds?

    What's your favorite Pringles flavor?

I really liked the sour cream and onion flavor, but I went vegan 3-4 years ago, so I can only have the plain ones now lol

How much water? What growing medium did you use? Can you send me some seeds? ;)
    P.s. you are incredibly handsome.
