Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo Open Up ft. Sally (Oui Oui Baguette ep. 6)

  • Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
  • Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo felt comfortable being vulnerable with me and opening up about bodyshaming, being judged, criticized, and pressured.
We live in a society where people are way too comfortable criticizing people's appearances. Ariana Grande’s message is extremely important and will resonate with many.
This interview was shot in London in the #WickedPressTour.
🇬🇧 Ariana Grande’s words I will never forget.
I had the privilege of having an open discussion with Cynthia and Ariana who felt comfortable opening up to me and talking about bodyshaming, being judged, criticized, and being pressured, which are topics addressed in their new film Wicked.
The #Wicked film is now in theaters.

But talking about other people's bodies can be really damaging, not only to the people in question, but to the people saying the comments, and to the people in their life who are shaped by that mindset

Narlywaves2371 You were NEVER naturally skinny if eating gained you a lot of weight to the point that you're not skinny anymore. Naturally skinny people have to live in the gym or do some weight training + consume lots of protein day and day out- many of them still remain thin, but look "healthier". You were probably just not eating that much which you don't always have to. Our bodies don't need to be stuffed in order to function.

Not PR. Mental illness. I feel bad for her and women like her who put so much emphasis on their looks and care so much about public opinion they feel like they're in a constant battle. They think that not caring what others think gives them power. But really, power is a selfish ambition. Not caring what people think should come a place of humility. Only place to find true humbling truth is in Christ Jesus. And that's what these broken women need to find healing and peace. When you care more about what God thinks than what people think, your world will start to make sense.

I love this!! The scene, Sally, you were talking about at the OZ Dust fest, I have actually have done that type of connection during my dance retreats!! I first was introduced it as, Dance Whispering and later also heard it referred to as Dance Connection. During those dance retreats workshops, the AMOUNT of vulnerability that washes over each individual is SO profound, the atmosphere changes. I have been left to tears during one of our hugging exercises as well, as I was in a dark space when I was on that dance retreat. Great interview!

The reality is that no one should be talking about anyone's body. Ariana is not the only person in the world who suffers from this, nor will she be the last. But still, it's important to recognize that not everyone who comments on her appearance does so out of malice, I truly believe that there is some concern that should be taken into account. Ari being talked about and speculated about so much is horrible. We’ve seen this happen with countless female celebrities. And it’s so harmful and hard to watch. The fact of it is that nobody has any reason to comment on anybody’s body or speculate about if they’re too fat or too thin or too this or too that. Because truthfully we cannot do anything to control their bodies. Nor should we want to. And the pressure for a celebrity to adhere to a nebulous voice of the public saying “you look wrong” could tear them apart. It serves zero purpose. It’s just gossip. So so so dangerous.
I’m very protective of Ari as a fan. She has been through so much and is such a strong and inspiring woman, and I wish nothing for her but to be able to feel supported by us as fans and never to be hurt by us so that she can and will continue to share her amazing voice with us and her inspiring passion for performing. She brings such a light to so many peoples lives with her work and it would be an incredible shame for it to be dimmed by a few loud, hateful voices in the crowd

I really hate to see that they have to deal with so many stupid comments on social media whether it’s about how they look, speak or whatever. Any comment that is meant to or can make them feel bad about themselves is wrong and should not be made.
