- Hello sweet friends! Today I'll be sharing with you some of my most used colours of 2022! I tried my best to include colours from all major colour categories but left out my beloved earth/muted colours as I'd have to make a very long video indeed if I wanted to include them all. Perhaps I'll swatch them in another video if you'd like to see them :)

I don't have any Really Nice Colors, I'm making do with a Sakura travel set and a really old kid's Crayola palette, but my favorite color this year has been a kind of dull lavender I get when I mix cobalt blue and crimson lake just right. adding a bit of white and a LOT of water makes it so good for fog or a night sky.
That sounds like an excellent mix, I love muted lavender colours! 😊❤️
Love your choices. I also love DS quin coral and quin burnt scarlet. And the permanent brown (PBr25). But moomglow contains a fugitive red pigment. (I think it’s PR177). Best to mix your own, and it’s easy. Just one example: DS imperial purple plus a good granulating viridian (pg18). I use M.Graham’s. Cheers!

I love your palette! If it were curated I would buy it as is. I am with you on Quin Coral! One of my favs! Winsor and Newton and D.S. Are my top choices for brands and the occasional handmade watercolor. Yes, and Moonglow! Love it.
Absolutely love the palette you created. My eyes wanted to eat up that Quin Burnt Scarlet and that Ultramarine Deep! My favorite colours this year were probably Cerulean Blue PB35 (gorgeous granulation), Nickel Azo Yellow (adds glow to EVERYTHING), and Lunar Blue (great alternative to black and acts as a perfect shadow colour). All of these were Daniel Smith; definitely fell hard for that brand this year.

I have to say the DS Quin. Burnt Scarlet is just stunning! I've been looking for just that color. It reminds me of my birth stone, the garnet. I love that deep, dark red! I've added it to my list!

Gallo)

I was a newbie not long ago (2018). DO NOT get lost in the color geekiness. You need six colors to start. A cool yellow, red, and blue; and a warm yellow, red, and blue. Choose 100% cotton paper, 300gsm minimum; and a few decent round brushes (4, 6, 10). Find a color wheel ANYWHERE on the internet and start mixing and playing: small strokes, big strokes; more water; less water. Watch the magic happen as you play. I wish I started this way.

Lovely palette. I really like Cobalt Turquoise and Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet next to each other! 😍A few of my favourites from this year, the entire Super Granulating Schmincke Shire Colours set, especially Shire Green. There's a set of three and a full set of five.💚💚💚😊

My top 3 convenient colors for 2022 are Tundra Violet, Volcano Brown and Forest Green by Schmincke. My top 3 single pigment colors are Cobalt Blue Deep (Roman Szmal), Nickel Azo Yellow and Rhodonite Genuine (both Daniel Smith)

Lily, Quin Burnt Scarlet took me away. My Lapis Lasuli from A. Gallo is quite transparent and like a baby-blue but can be layered. I'll do that. From my 'collection' my three favorites for 2022 are all from A. Gallo (only new paint purchased): Hematite PR 102; Indigo NB 1; Morellone PR 101. However ... M. Graham, Prussian Blue PB 27; W&N perm Rose PV 19; Sennelier Primary Yellow PY 153; Sennelier Red PR 254 are staples. Sennelier dominates my pallets. Health and happiness in the new year to you!

My favorite colors of 2022 have been Quin. Burnt Orange (PO48), Perylene Maroon (PR179), and Perylene Green (PBK31). They have been present in every painting I’ve done because they are the base colors of my original character’s skin tone and hair color 😊

I loved your video!! You brought some particular colors to my attention that weren’t on my radar! Three colors I used this year were : 1. Case for Making Carmine Naccarat, it does have some fluorescent pigment in it, but I like it anyway for sketchbook work. 2. A. Gallo Yin Min blue, 3. A. Gallo copper blue.

also do you like the arches HP? i’ve only ever tried the CP but curious because I like smoother paper for ink linework
I used to really love Fabriano Artistico HP paper, but they changed it and it didn't work quite as well. I switched to Arches HP which I do love, especially when using my Sakura Micron pens with watercolours, it's really consistent and reliable 😊🙌...however I am always on the lookout for more good HP 100% cotton papers, haha 👀
@@lilymoonart ooh that sounds good thank you!! I'm going to try it next year - I have a block of fabriano HP but it's so awful!! makes everything so chalky & muddy, I wasn't sure if it was just a bad batch
@@softandcosy I've read that many people have had bad experiences with the Fabriano Hp in recent years, which is so unfortunate as it used to be the best HP paper around. I actually found on Jackson's a new Fabriano Artistico HP, that has a big stamp saying 'enhanced quality' and I couldn't resist and bought one to try out...praying they brought back their old formula! Will be testing on video, when it arrives hopefully! 😊😊
