The Ricardos could never have driven to California without the Merzs…they had too many of the punch lines. 😂😂😂

Why are Ricky & Fred both wearing suit & tie?

That is how people dressed those days when traveling.

@@MK-lh3xd I know people back then were careful about how they dressed but suit and tie on a road trip. so why are the women dressed so casually ? Seems like the wardrobe department got this totally wrong.

First off, they aren't wearing suits. They are both wearing a sport coat and slacks. Have things gotten THAT slovenly in 21st century America that people can no longer tell the difference between a suit and a sport coat? Also, Fred is NOT wearing a necktie; only Ricky.
The reason is that up until about 20 years ago, men actually took pride in their appearance. Fashion always changed, but a man would not dress like a slob like they do today. It was common for professional men like Ricky and older men of Fred's generation to wear dress slacks, a dress shirt and a sport coat at the least when in public. My grandfather dressed like that, only without the sport coat. Always a white dress shirt and wool dress slacks.
I'm old enough to remember when people dressed to fly on airplanes. My first flight was in 1980. It would be totally unheard of to wear sweat pants or pajama bottoms the way so many do today.
While I understand that people want to be comfortable while traveling, there is a way to do it without looking like you just crawled out of bed or just got off an 8 hour shift on a garbage truck.

@@retroguy9494 It is difficult to tell in a black and white video, whether it is a suit or a sports coat and slack.
