Thanks. I have a blown door speaker. I'm not surprised the previous owner blew it. The radio goes up to 40 and I've only had it up to 25 with it's 2 Bazooka subwoofers set to high. At 25 it's louder than the 110 db horn I installed. Edit: Just found out the amp is 600 watts! a SPL FX2-600.
@@HandyDan I don't know how awesome they sound compared to how they are supposed to sound. I just know they are loud. The two Bazookas are 6 inch. I don't know the wattage and I have no idea if they are active or passive cus I'm not up on car radio systems but to me since they are driven by a external amp I think they must be passive not having a built in amp. It also looks like they have speakers on each side of the tubes. ( I have never before seen a Bazooka close up) I can't find a model number on them to find out more. I haven't tried to drive them so they will shake the car. I had to turn down some high frequencies in the EQ because they would rattle like they were blown. (all other EQ settings are flatline) Perhaps the tubes have a bass speaker and a midrange and the midrange is going out on them.. i'm just guessing. Perhaps they are made like that. I really don't know how the EQ should be set. I suspect they are at least 10 years old. I had to use a joke video of silence converted to mp3 to find out the volume went to 40. I'm looking to a pair of 300 watt door speakers to solve my blown door speaker problem and Hope I don't blow those. I understand the stock speakers are probably pretty low wattage.

Happy to answer, all I did was cut off the OEM plug as close as I could, strip the wires and crimp on the two spade lugs. As far as polarity goes, I couldn't find an accurate diagram but I used the wire with the tracer for +
Hi Dan. Great vid. Now I want to upgrade mine! My 09 fortwo pulse has already decent sound clarity and punch. On rock tracks I set bass to 1 and electro music -1 is enough to feel the punch without sounding like a disco on wheels. Was this the case with your oem's? Besides 5db what did you notice re sound improvement? Cheers
My OEM speakers were shot, so this was a replacement and upgrade. I have a long history of IASCA sound competition and high end stereo history so I chose Infinity speakers for their high end sounds, plus I added an 8inch woofer for the bass.
@@bobbydigital8243 awesome, yes the grill on mine was heat staked from the rear but it popped off easy. Then as you see I tore the paper cone out and cut the plastic speaker frame. Used a utility knife to trim the door. Mine sound amazing.
The proper way is to remove the door skin is what everyone says. However, it is a lot of work to remove door skin and on my car there is a foam liner glued to the door frame that would need to be cut. Also, if you realize aftermarket speakers are designed to mount from the front... and if you wanted to upgrade the speakers later its much easier to do from the front. Your choice.
In the end its all about new speakers 🔊. In my video I went through the front, very easy. The OEM speakers are plastic framed and cut away easily. I have removed the outer door skin twice and it's way more involved.
I have always been impressed with Infinity speakers for mid to high range so I chose them for this car. I showed the box with the model number in the beginning of this video. I later added a sub woofer too and have a separate video for that.

Do you have a video of changing all the interior lights to blue? currently my 451 is covered in orange. (Which is terrible) blue looks amazing!

Wow! That must sound awesome! I have just the head unit and one 8" sub at 150watts and it shakes all the mirrors

Do you remember which cord was positive or negative?
I will check out the schematics and get back to you soon

Thank you :-).
Could you show what you had to do to rewire? What specifically would I need to get to complete the connections?

is those speakers really lack of bass ?
Actually the 6.5" door speakers do have more bass than the OEM. But I also added an 8" subwoofer.

what size are those speakers? I'm putting 6-1/2" speakers on both my front doors I could just install them like how you did yours right?
The speakers I installed are 6-1/2".
What car do you have? A Smart?

Why is the proper way of doing this is removing the door skin? What’s the difference?

a simple 10in sub should rattle that thing!
That's the plan, 😉
