Idk if anyone explained but, it’s a song that explains how many times 2 people are together not because you love each other but because you’re used to being together. And that they keep coming back together over and over. It’s a “costumbre”, a habit, to keep coming back. Rocio was from Spain, that’s why you hear that Arab influence in her vocalization, it’s from flamenco, which has Arab influence. I love this lady, when she passed away in 2006, oof it hurt!!
There hasn't been another Rocio Durcal and boy, have many tried but even to cover her songs has been so difficult. She really created her own vocal style. She makes it look so easy but a lot of people go out of key when singign her songs or can't convey the magic she delivered. Spanish singers usually have the flamenco style which is kind of Arab and it's believed to be their influence. Rocio didn't even had a lot of it but she combined that with the Mexican style and it was beautiful and unique. What you've seen of her it's just the tip of the iceberg.
Nuestra gran ROCIO .. FUE Y SEGUIRÁ SIENDO LA MEJOR, tienes que ver como mueve la cabeza al cantar es una belleza de las notas moviendo la cabeza.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Rocío was teen sensation back in the 60s and inspired Juan Gabriel a lot but when she started working with him, she obviously absorbed a lot of his style too. There's a reason she was his favorite artist and wrote many albums for her. Thank you Blanca for requesting this.
You pointed out that at one point rocio’s singing sounded like an arab technique or style of singing. Spain has a huge arab/muslim influence in the sense of culture, arquitecture, and even language ! The moors ruled spain for hundreds of years at one point

The emotion and gestures were very much a part of Rocio Durcal"s performances. In her early career she was also an actress which is evident in her musical interpretations. Easily my top 3 favorite artists to have seen live in concert!
Ahh I love this song because its true!! Sometimes habit of being with someone is stronger than love, because you get used to them you become comfortable and after they are gone you miss that... That is how interpreted.

Rocio was an amazing singer, She felt in love wiht Mexican music, Latin America felt in love with her. Thank you for your appreciation to our music. Hi from a Colombian who lives in Miami
My mother was very good friends with her.. they met in Vallarta and became like sisters. have memories as a little little girl being woken up at night at our place in Vallarta because they’d (the adults) stay up till late and she’d be singing. Today thinking about it I wish I had been an adult or at least old enough at that time to had been there hanging.p with them. She was always loving and sweet, big smile and very happy. RIP Marieta QEPD
When I was young ..she was my favourite singar ..so that love still remains this days.. even when she’s gone.. will alwayse be my favourite performer.. she have many beautiful songs.., many from Juan Gabriel among others.. and she sing like that because she’s from Spain.. and Spain was conquered by Arabs, that’s because she and Isabel Pantoja and Rosalia and Diana Navarro and many others capture that way of sing from Cante Hondo... Regards from Mexico! ♥️🇲🇽
One think I love about this video when you notice that Arab part , yes she does sing like that she is from Spain and she was raise with flamenco 💃🏻 and flamenco it’s inspired by Arab music !! 🥰😍
Boudyyyyy!!, what a wonderful reaction to COSTUMBRES = ACCUSTOMED TO in this case. Thank you 🙏 Of course it had be beautiful with Roció because it’s my adorable Juan Gabriel’s creation just for her adjusting it to her voice and personality with a little touch of Spanish flamenco there💃 Translation: Costumbres = Accustomed Tell me about yourself, tell me about your life, you know very well that I am convinced that you cannot even try to forget me. Whenever you will come back, again and again, time and time again you will always come back, although you no longer feel love for me, just a resentment , I don't have anything to feel either and that's worse but I miss you, oh how I miss you!!…. there is no doubt that it is true that custom is stronger than LOVE. I love you guys! Huge hugs ♥️♥️♥️
Rocio Durcal was from Spain (she died in 2006). The Arabs were in Spain for seven centuries and left an enormous influence on the culture, music and way of singing. Although this song is by Juan Gabriel, Rocio added that Arabic influence to it and it turned out wonderful. Tell me about you Tell me of your life you know very well that I am convinced That you can't Even if you try to forget me You will always come back, again and again And again you will always come back Although you no longer feel love for me, only resentment I have nothing to feel either And that's worse But I miss you I miss you too There is no doubt that it is true that custom It's stronger than love
She is Spaniard. Consequently, she had a Flamenco way of singing like most of the Spaniard singers. It's true that this type or style of singing sounds very Arabic and even Indian. I think that was part of the Arabic culture left in Southern Spain, which was inhabited by The Moors or Arabs. The gypsies also have this way of singing. If you want to hear that justs listen to Lola Flores or Rocio Jurado, tow singers from Andalusia, the Arabic territory until 1492 when they were expelled from Spain by the Catholic Queen and King Isabella and Ferdinad. This song is about a couple that ends the relationship and find out that they can't stay away from each other because being together became a habit, a tradition. They don't feel anything from each other. However, they have a hard time to move on because the tradition of being together. They miss each other and they realize that "La costumbre es mas fuerte que el amor," Tradition is stronger than love.
She was from Spain and lived many years in México; very good friends with Juan Gabriel, his main “interpreter” I know her since she was a teenager, she was in movies that the noons from my school show as with great pride… the noons were Spaniards of course! 😊❤
Beautiful reaction, to TRULY great singer, performer, and artist. Another great artist that is truly unique and I''M SURE you will enjoy is Rocio Jurado, SENORA, and LO SIENTO MI AMOR, she sang not just with her voice, and facial expressions, but incorporated her whole body in express her emotions, absolutely breathtaking performances. ALSO Lupita De Alessio - singing JUAN GABRIEL'S Inocente Pobre Amgia,, and her ACARICIAME, all great artist.
I just discovered your channel and I am hooked. I grew up watching Rocio Durcal movies in the 60's. Do a search for Rocio Durcal Saetas, for the period of her youth when she mastered the flamenco style that made her unforgettable. Love.love.love.
Basically, this song is about two persons that want to be together, even tough there is no more love between them, is only custom or habit that brings them together
Juan Gabriel sang this song in homage to Mrs. Dúrcal in LasVegas in 2015, the moment was very nostalgic with her photograph at the back of the stage and the phrase "Even though you don't feel anymore love from me, only rage".😢
I love your reactions and your Arabic! Rocio was Jan Gabriel’s muse. He wrote masterpieces for her to sing. You should check out “No me digas” in the studio with Juan Gabriel coaching her
I grew up listening to Rocío she's amazing, (and Latin artists), after moving to the US in my teen years I realized how underappreciated Latin music is here & unrecognized. Its very sad - I highly recommend Pandora, they were/are a Mexican group. I believe they were popular in the '80s-'90s. They are amazing, "Como te va mi Amor" is one of my favorites. Thank you for your videos and new exposure to music, I appreciate your words and how much you also appreciate other artists and their art.
Boudy thank you for another reaction that reminds me of the true master composer that Juan Gabriel was. When you don't even need to understand the words of the song to feel it in your soul speaks volumes of his natural abilities. Now imagine understanding the lyrics! 😊😢Truly music is the universal language. ❤
Hello friend, awesome reaction! I know this is about more about singing analizing, in the case of JG/RD, is very important to know the lyrics, with this song is even more, since it is about acknowledging that a relationship of love is already exhausted and there is nothing to do about it, and of course the sadness that comes along with it, and that we stick to relationships because of costumes. Therefore the main and strong conclusion of JG, saying “The costumes are stronger than love”, which is the end of the lyrics, a very important song in the mexican collective culture, and finally, but as important as everything and a touch of geniality, the phrase of the trumpet which you identified wisely is repeating itself throughout the entire piece as the very “costume” itself, representing the feelings of the lyrics that we repeat in life on and on… you chose the best very version of this song, the most mature stage of Mtra Rocio Durcal, thanks!!!
next song on my playlist would be "fue un placer conocerte" Juan Gabriel & Rocio Durcal, but also my playlist for the past 3 months have only been Juan Gabriel and Rocio Durcal lol.
Q grande Rocío. D.E.P. . De las mejores artistas españolas. Te aconsejo reaccionar a " La Cigarra" interpretada por Natalia Jiménez & Lila Downs. Un saludo
"No cabe duda que es verdad que la costumbre... es más fuerte que el amor": Literally, "Without a doubt, habit is stronger than love"; about when a love relationship has lost its spark, fallen flat, and now surviving on inertia. And even though the love is gone, the separation is still emotionally brutal, heart-rending.
TRANSLATION “Tell me about yourself, tell me about your life You know well that I'm convinced That you can't even so you try to forget me You'll always come back Time and time again Time and time again You'll always come back Even though you don't feel more love for me anymore, Only rage I don't have anything to feel either, And that is worse. But I miss you I miss you too... There's no doubt that it's true, that customs are stronger than love I know that you can't even though you try to forget me You'll always come back Time and time again Time and time again You'll always come back Even though you don't feel more love for me anymore, Only rage, uuh-uh I don't have anything to feel either, And that is worse. But I miss you, how I miss you There's no doubt that it's true, customs are stronger than love, ugh-uh There's no doubt that it's true, that customs are stronger than love”
“Costumbres” in this song can be better translated as “habits”. It talks about about how you could miss someone not because you still love this person, but because you were used to their presence. “ You come back to me over and over, although you don’t feel love for me , only resentment. I either have anything to feel But I miss you… Oh how much I miss you.. There’s no doubt that a habit can be stronger than love.” This is actually one of my favorite songs just because of the poignancy of the lyrics.
The song is called Customes are stronger than love. Meaning when you reach a point of maturity you know some things are stronger than love itself. Like being accustomed to living with someone for many years and missing them even tho you don't love that person anymore.
Rocio Durcal is a legend! I grew up with her music and was lucky to see her sing so many music genres. Sadly, she is no longer with us but there is another duo I would urge you to hear and that is Natalia Jimenez and Lila Downs , La Cigarra. Natalia has a similar voice like Rocios but is uniquiley hers (also from Spain). Lila Downs is a powerful and beautiful singer and when they combine their voices in La Cigarra, well, it's pure magic!!
The part where you said, "That's a very Arab thing to do," is a vocal style very reminiscent of flamenco music in Spain, which is the country she was originally from. I think you would love flamenco if you haven't gotten into it yet.
Bro that part you said was Very arab like, i have always said that!! No doubt in my mind she picked that up from arab culture! Thats the only people i have ever heard sing that way. She was the only Artist to ever do that in our culture. I study those little details when i hear great artists.
Costumbre is a habitual way of acting or behaving. In other words, how you are accustomed to being. The song says: no cabe duda que es verdad que la costumbre es más fuerte que el amor = there is no doubt that the truth is that custom (being accustomed) is stronger than love. In the song even though he doesn't love her anymore he still goes back to her because he's so accustomed to her.
Habibi, ya ayouni...she makes that arab singing like sound, because she is from spain and only Spaniards sing that way due to the Arab Muslim influence when they lived there for almost 800 years, in other words, all of us Latin folks are mixed with Arabs period.
Mexican culture has a very strong oral tradition. Our music is very deeply tied to that tradition. That's why singers and vocal interpretation are a huge part of Mexican music. Ask any Mexican (especially from an older generation) who their favorite "musician" is and they will almost certainly give you a list of singers. Part of Juan Gabriel's genius was his ability to compose simple yet elegant musical melodies over which vocalists like Rocio Durcal could create their own vocal melodies and interpretations over the music. The music lends itself to allowing a singer to interpret the song how they feel it. So your conclusion that a different singer would interpret the melody differently and sing it differently is absolutely correct. Couple that with Juan Gabriel's amazing capacity to write some of the most beautiful lyrics that are also telling you a compelling story and you can understand why so many artists always want to record his songs.
great reaction as always, i would like to recommend "rocio jurado - que no daria yo". ive seen 2 live versiona on youtube. both are amazing. it translates to "what i would not give" she is from spain as rocio durcal is.
Hola. I am subscribing to your channel just because you like Juan Gabriel. Two of my favorites songs from him are "me nace del corazón" and "la guirnalda" ❤ he sing them alone and Rocío. I really enjoy your comments
It sounds to me that modern songs, the vocal melody is built around the musical melody, rather than in the past where the music was built around the vocal melody.
This song talks about relationships that become more of a routine than Love…people that can’t walk away from a relationship that became more of a toxic routine,
She was a teen idol in Spain and most of Latin America, as the years went on he career dwindled , and then Juan Gabriel “happened” and he wrote many songs for her and then there was an “explosion” !! besides the business side their friendship became very deep if you notice a lot of both of their mannerisms on stage are very similar……….
“ i know you can’t even if you try to forget me , you will always come back once and again , once and again you will always come back , Altough already you don’t feel more love for me , just resentment, me neither has something to feel , and that’s worst , but I miss you , I miss you too. There’s no doubt and it’s true than the habit is stronger than love” Alberto Aguilera Valadez
*Customs/Rocio Durcal Tell me about yourself, tell me, about your life. You know well that I'm convinced that you can't even so you try to forget me. You'll always come back time and time again time and time again you'll always come back even though you don't feel love from me anymore, only rage. I don't have anything to feel either and that's worse. But I miss you, I miss you too. There's no doubt that it's true that customs are stronger than love. There's no doubt that it's true that customs are stronger than love...
Costumbres in that way is not “traditions” is more like to GET USED …. Or something you do mechanically but without love, passion or interest! In the song says “habit (costumbre)is stronger than love”
Idk if anyone explained but, it’s a song that explains how many times 2 people are together not because you love each other but because you’re used to being together. And that they keep coming back together over and over. It’s a “costumbre”, a habit, to keep coming back.

But I miss you…
Oh how much I miss you..
There’s no doubt that a habit can be stronger than love.”
This is actually one of my favorite songs just because of the poignancy of the lyrics.
Costumbres in this context means habit. So she says "it is true that the habits are stronger than love"
I love her!!! Grretings from Chile!!
You noticed the Spanish touches(gestures, vocals)she brings to this song ..and you notice some Arab..Well Spain has Arab influence..there you go..
🇲🇽 The most Mexican Spanish 100% Mexican
México la ADOPTO COMO REINA ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💕💕💕👏👏👏❤️
Juan Gabriel, Ana Gabriel, Rocio Durcal ..... wow!
Thats a very Español thing to do with her voice. España. Rocio was breathtaking just like her friend Juan Gabriel.
hay como un brillo especial en su voz que no se como describirlo
Excelente Video. Saludos desde CDMX 🥑🌽🌵🌶.
The song is called Customes are stronger than love. Meaning when you reach a point of maturity you know some things are stronger than love itself. Like being accustomed to living with someone for many years and missing them even tho you don't love that person anymore.
All latin artist draw their audience into the song to feel the song and the words. All latin artist sing with passion and emotion.
FYI, there is a video recording in the studio where Juan Gabriel is coaching Rocio for a song he wrote for her. Very intimate
“”I don’t have anything to say either and that is even worse”” JG. Love you all AMR ♥️♥️
Habibiiii ❤️❤️❤️ thank you!
You are honest most mexicans deny their Spanish heritage. And of course via Spain Arabic influence.
ArabManReacts A Lot of her song Have Been Written BY JUAN GARIEL. Juan Gabriel has so many hits but also sing by many other singer
Habibi, ya ayouni...she makes that arab singing like sound, because she is from spain and only Spaniards sing that way due to the Arab Muslim influence when they lived there for almost 800 years, in other words, all of us Latin folks are mixed with Arabs period.
"PORQUE FUE QUE TE AME"....MANY VARIANTS IN THIS SONG
Beautiful love song 😢💓
PHRASE;WOMAN " BUT I MISS YOU, HOW I MISS. WITHOUT DOUBT THAT IT IS TRUE THAT 'COSTUMBRE' HABIT IS STRONGER THAN LOVE."
It sounds to me that modern songs, the vocal melody is built around the musical melody, rather than in the past where the music was built around the vocal melody.
This song talks about relationships that become more of a routine than Love…people that can’t walk away from a relationship that became more of a toxic routine,
Eterno agradecimiento a los Reyes Católicos.
Juan Gabriel wrote that song for her!....i think he wrote the majority of her songs!❤ Juanga was the best writer!
I LOVE HER!!!!!
Hay un video de rocio durcal en el estudio de grabación,grabando una canción de Juan Gabriel y Juan ayudándola con la grabación 😚
The key phrase in these wonderful lyrics is “habits are stronger than love” - so sad!😢
The word costumbres in thisncontext means HABITS
Yeaa, You at the first people's,,make reacción to My Queen rocío thanks have great day
She is Spanish and her music is based on Flamenco which was greatly influenced by the Muslims when they conquered Spain.
*Customs/Rocio Durcal
Tell me about yourself,
tell me, about your life.
You know well
that I'm convinced
that you can't
even so you try to forget me.
You'll always come back
time and time again
time and time again
you'll always come back
even though you don't feel
love from me anymore, only rage.
I don't have
anything to feel either
and that's worse.
But I miss you,
I miss you too.
There's no doubt that it's true
that customs are stronger
than love.
I know that you can't
even though you try to forget me
you'll always come back
time and time again
time and time again
you'll always come back.
Even though you don't feel anymore
love from me, only rage.
I don't have anything either
to feel, and that's worse.
But I miss you.
How I miss you.
There's no doubt that it's true
that customs are stronger
than love...
Costumbres in that way is not “traditions” is more like to GET USED …. Or something you do mechanically but without love, passion or interest!
In the song says “habit (costumbre)is stronger than love”
