If you read Chinese Light Novel, it's the same things, the first few such with unique plot and system, then every LNs came out copy that and expand it until later LN with a strong author basically just copy all the good plots and blend it so well.
Old ToF player here (played for 6 months). The combat was fine, and the battle loop was fun, so I’m not too worried about the gameplay for this game. What does worry me are two things: first, will the weapon system be as awful as before (extremely limited to one element AND/OR playstyle, plus very expensive). Second, will they avoid screwing players over with endless, ridiculous power creep? Actually, maybe three things, because the equipment system was also terrible. I remember having decent gear for playing the physical element, but my ice equipment was awful, so I couldn’t play an ice team at the same level as my physical team. My other element teams were even worse-unplayable, even when I had good units. So yeah, I’m really hesitant about this game, even if-admittedly-it looks really polished (RIP potato phones). I just hope they’ve hired better game designers this time around. That said, I’ll still subscribe to see if they get it right this time.
The issues you listed there are the same in basically all gacha games, Genshin, ToF, Wuwa, etc. This game will be no different, it's how they make money.
@Phatkez ToF was my first gacha game, HSR my second, and now Wuwa is my third. While on paper they might share some issues, it’s not always the case in practice. I’m not here to glaze Wuwa, just to explain ToF's problems and my concerns for their new game. Take Wuwa as an example (since I don’t play Genshin): after six months, Wuwa doesn’t have the same power creep issues. In ToF, standard units and 4★ characters were unusable-you’d be the lowest damage contributor by far. Even as a whale, playing in guilde with other leviathan, whales, dolphins, low spenders, and F2P players, the power creep was brutal for everyone. In Wuwa, 4★ units and standard units are actually viable. Six months in, there’s no visible power creep, and if it exists, it’s subtle enough not to be an issue. By contrast, ToF’s power creep is blatantly obvious. You have the new shiny unit or you don't exist. Now for weapons: in ToF, you don’t just pull for one weapon-you need four to get the full effect or at least two for partial bonuses. It’s like ornaments in HSR but far worse because it requires money or extreme luck, and these weapons are often locked to specific elements or niches. The F2P options? Useless, you can't imagine how bad they were. Then there’s equipment: while it’s theoretically universal, you’re forced to chase elemental damage% with tons of useless substats in the mix. In six months, I managed to build one decent set for one element. My other sets were garbage, even after trying everything to make them usable. This effectively locked me into one element, making it impossible to enjoy new units with other elements. In Wuwa, I can build viable gear for every unit I have. When Shorekeeper arrived, I quickly built two sets-one for DPS (which was mid) and another for support (much better)-both with good rolls. It was easy and fast. As a low spender (just BP and monthly), this has been my consistent experience: within 1-2 weeks, I have full gear ready for any new unit. Again, I’m not trying to glaze Wuwa but to highlight why I’m worried about the new game’s design. How they’ll handle weapons and equipment is crucial, and we’ve seen no info about it yet. Honestly, a Genshin copy-paste would be far better than the mess that was ToF.
@@shuryt I played ToF basically the same period you did, and my take is that a lot of these issues are worse in ToF because it's more multiplayer centric and you're expected to pull your weight. There's not really such thing as unusable units in the other gachas because all the content is designed to be completed single player and there's nobody to care how bad your damage is or whatever. NTE should be more like Wuwa or Genshin than ToF when it comes to these concerns i think. Also, Wuwa glazing is absolutely encouraged. So many features of that game are just major improvements over systems that exist in all the other gacha games. Hope NTE takes some inspiration from it.
@@Phatkez The multiplayer aspect really didn't, that is so true. I have hope for this game, good design, game play seem fun like in tof. Hoping it's not wasted on greediness.
@@Phatkez Absolutely false. For three years there was practically NO powercreep in Genshin, then a bit, and only now in it's FIFTH year, there is more powercreep, but I still doubt there is a serious issue with it, at least for now. You can play characters from first year of the game. In Genshin way more often old characters were getting stronger with time, that was the norm, not powercreep. As for WuWa, there is no evidence of powercreep, it has been half a year and it might be still too early to say. One thing though - game is more skill focused, you absolutely can play ALL characters. Also, there is special game mode - Illusive Realm, where characters are getting more abilities and buffs and you can enjoy all of them, it's amazing. So no, game isn't designed in a predatory way to force you to get new characters because of powercreep. As for gear in WuWa - wrong, in comparison to Genshin it's super easy to build characters and get 5* weapons. No, games and companies are different from each other, first learn before commenting.
this creation looks amazingly beautiful and perfect if the developers continue to work on the game, then it will delight us for at least 10 years I have no doubt about it after they gave us TOF unfortunately the game did not become as popular as planned but the game was made with soul it brings a lot of pleasure and joy

Honestly, rn I'm going to say that I would like to try it out when it comes out, I was sold on that female fmc cinematic with the green haired catgirl vs that creepy weird star, however, and this is just my taste, I don't really like the female mc's design to be honest xd. On the other hand, although I say I would like to try it, I don't think any of my devices will run it.
Seeing that the combat takes place in closed-off flat "arenas" and not strictly open world like wuwa/genshin, I'm hoping that they will improve the camera and movements during combat. It feels like and "mmorpg" where there's not enough feedback and inertia.
I really like the animations with the art direction, they are so lively and the combat as well! feels like I could spend a lot of hours just walking around in photo mode, now all I need is one character that makes me feel "this is the one!" so I can lose myself here
My opinion.. - combat doesn't give anything unique?? - character designs look generic (mc looks like kiana) - characters design and outfit kinda out of place? Does not blend well in the environment. - graphics for a ue5 game is underwhelming?? - overall designs kinda look like childish?? They have a lots of work to do or else project mugen will stomp them and end up like their other game.
The problem with this gacha won’t be the game itself but the gacha system. ToF’s system is the worst of all, and it’s the reason I quit ToF. If they know how to manage their gacha like WuWa did, I’m in. If not, I’m out.
The combat animation looks so stiff tbh, is there any "unique" core combat mechanism ? Like genshin with elemental reaction and wuwa with their forte and echo. Tbh for now the games looks bland af in combat mechanism, but exploration looks promising
