Metal is a form of lyrical art that is best appreciated when you analyze and understand the meaning of each song. IMO it’s best to start with studio versions, as some live versions are messed with by the bands and if you aren’t familiar with the song or it’s meaning, it can loose some of its ability to convey its true meaning/definition of the song when it’s done more casually in a live setting. Just a thought.. Best of luck in your metal journey!

Metallica hands down. So my top 5 metal bands. That’s a tough one. Because I’m sure after I post them I’ll want to add more lol 1. Metallica 2. Iron Maiden 3. Rammstain 4. Hypocrisy 5. Megadeth
@Mark Hammond well I had to think out of the top of my head which 5 will come first. I mean the first two are a constant but then the rest is jumble of whatever comes first to mind.
Iron Maiden is metal, try Alexander the Great by them, or Where Eagles Dare. Judas Priest - Riding on the Wind (Live in Memphis 1982) Metallica are really better at lyric writing and musical composition than Megadeth imo. Accept - Metal Heart Metal Church - Metal Church Ozzy - Perry Mason Metallica - The Thing That Should Not Be Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers
Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Disturbed, Slipknot, All That Remains, 5 finger death punch, Ozzy Osborne, Mudvayne, Marilyn Manson, Alestorm, Poison, Rammstein, Baby Metal, Dragon Force, Arch Enemy, Jinjer, Korn, System of a Down and tons more are all considered metal.... its just what kind of metal are ya looking forfrom hair metal, to folk metal all the way to death metal and industrial metal.... its like rap is a catch all term for all the different types of rap and sometimes bleeding into r&b or how rock can range from elvis type shit all the way to nickleback and the punk movement.

Megadeth Solos: None xDD Metallica Albums: ...And Justice for All, Master of Puppets, The Black Album/Metallica. Megadeth Albums: Rust in Peace. Peace Sells, So good so far so what. Metallica is better than Megadeth, hands down. But, Megadeth is more technical than Metallica. Metallica has a better vision for their songs, and create more emotion in the way their songs are written. So, it depends on what you look for in music. The best way to understand the difference, IMO, is to listen to Four Horsemen vs. Mechanix. Dave Mustaine wrote a great couple of riffs for Mechanix, but his vision for the song was very narrow. He didn't want to expand the song more than just cool riffs played very fast, with immature lyrics. Metallica wanted to slow the pace, add two middle sections, and sing more interesting lyrics. So, in a nutshell, Dave wrote great riffs, but Metallica's vision created a far better song. Mustaine gradually matured with his song writing, to keep up with Metallica, and culminated in his greatest album, Rust in Peace. It's a great album, not quite Master of Puppets, but certainly belongs as one of Metal's greatest albums.
Metallica and megadeath are classified as speed metal. Motley crue is hair metal, not if you ask them. Slayer, Pantera , Black Sabbath are great metal bands
@@user-tq1bj3fn7h yes, back in the day in the 80's they wanted to be louder, harder, and faster than anyone else so before there was even a name for their style of metal it was just called speed metal. Now they are just what they are
