DigInfo TV - diginfo.tv 28/7/2011 Tokyo Institute of Technology Intelligent humanoid robot capable of learning and decision-making in a real environment
It would be interesting if interaction with these object eventually became more familiar to the machine. The slow calculating movements remind me of a baby attempting to do things, however a baby usually fails while the robot does not. Over time, I'm wondering if the machine will speed up from getting used to performing the same task so often? I wonder if an AI will ever reach a point that it learns from trial and error?
the robot has been programmed to test new things and it can write its own code. There was a AI and it would talk to ppl and learn how to by itself but they made the mistake of letting the AI go onto Facebook and after an hour it became very racist so they had to shut it down
This is probably one of the very first truly intelligent robot ever built... The ability to learn from new situations and difficulties is what makes humans "smart". Giving that ability to robots will definitely make them progress a lot.
Hey does someone knows what programming language were they using developing the robot's AI? it was under .net framework, but what language was it? can someone please tell me? thanks in advance.
@thebarnar uh.... It has access to other robots and all human knowledge. It would create a version of itself that would have a barrier to protect itself from the EMP wave. It would also have the ability to override a launch and/or a combination of both.
Adaptability its a very important feature, I'm glad it is starting to be applied. also "I can't do this because I don't know how" O_O what a humble and polite robot!
I knew the Terminator movies were real. This is the beginning of skynet. I noticed the one part where they said the robot can match things in his environment to past experiences or experiences from other robots. Link up a couple of million of these and were doomed. It's still a really cool robot and great concept.
I've lived in Europe and agree who heatedly. I apologize if that wasn't clear enough in my original response. I was referring to Europe in a historical context, not in its present-day incarnation.
Robots are our creation, whatever they become can only be whatever we inspire them to do. If it's bad, it's because we're bad, if it's good, it's because we are good. Ultimately, it is not up to them, it is up to us, to show how sentient beings live.
I think its cool we have this...we could have robots that adapt to any situation it's confounded with. Who knows we could even have robots that adapt to enemy's or opponents it has to face
the point is that robots are getting smarter. though it's nthing new. I remember there was research with similar ideas somewhere in 1980's, except they had a virtual world instead of an actual robot. the machine could solve very complex tasks. that virtual world had virtual boxes, balls etc. and machine could learn and act on its own.
I just realized how relevant the song "Handlebars" by Flobots is to this situation. Just add From the Internet......From the Internet. After every line.
Don't forget to have them follow the three rules of robotics. Always obey owner, Never endanger human life, and never endanger own life unless to follow rules 1 or 2.
i understand that it figures out problems on its own and what it doesnt know it says it doesnt know how to tackle the problem.... what would happen if 2 or 3 of these each had a skill set or knowledge of tackling tasks that differ from the next? would they interact and share the information or attempt to educate eachother?
No no no you dont hook it to the Internet thats how it all starts
XD here's hoping SKYNET won't become reality.
+hsucks Oh it will.
@@sucktitles hopefully people are smart enough not to make bots too smart
he's already watched every single pornhub video
Dr Wily: "Interesting."
Just imagine one day it watches terminator lol
Robot: ....This is not a
robot...this is a human...YOU HUMANS TRICKED ME!!! Pay me the ultimate price!! $500! Do or world domination
あかり A XD
[Insert Paranoid Comment Here]
Wow, that was beautiful.
"I don't know how."

5 years later… now there are robots that learn from trial and error
@@Alisonn2 Yep, lots of them. AI really ramped up over the past few years. I’m hoping AGI is just around the corner. We could use the help.
This discovery is AMAZING!!!
Well, get your weapons folks, cause here comes the singularity!
Singularity was reached long ago in the 1980s.
They are just releasing the information and technology slowly.
What is project paperclip?
By itself ??? I thought its been programmed to do learn, think and act.. !

love the paint job.
Why!? Why is everyone SO AFRAID of robots!?
Its the most cliché of fears!: "Oh no, our own creation turned against us!!!"
And it bothers me!
A robot that can think new decisions rather than preprogrammed ones. OMG!!!
The robot is genius, but "Human" is briliant.
And so skynet begins
John Conner WIIL lead the Resistance 🤖🏍️🔴🔫👨💻👩💻👨💻👩💻🖱️👩💻🖱️👩💻🖱️👩💻👨💻👨💻💻
With that coiled wire around the 'post' it reminds me of the Star Tours pilot.
Hope they pulled that 'remove before flying' tag first.
Its adorable.
Now we need the t800 terminator!!!
This is probably one of the very first truly intelligent robot ever built...
The ability to learn from new situations and difficulties is what makes humans "smart". Giving that ability to robots will definitely make them progress a lot.
It makes such fluid movements!
a learning robot. ok, now we're stepping on dangerous territory.
@FlawlessFlaw07 i haven't said that, i just implied that fire was something we learned how to make.
but i agree with your argument
a robot must itself be able to operate commands and be in control of its own systems to truly learn.
there needs to be a coalition of scientists that share this tech with each other and create an actual droid.
two words i-robot
That's some funny looking water.
Oh my god, this is totally a robotic bartender. It only needs to know one phrase: "Would you like some more?"
Someone's gonna be really confused when they tell that robot to grab some M&M's and it brings back a water bottle.
wow... a great step to the future. Nice to see this improvments on robotics
what are the application used in the robot?
robots are more responsible with coasters than I am...
It's so cute! Learning how to poor a glass of water. :)
Hey does someone knows what programming language were they using developing the robot's AI? it was under .net framework, but what language was it? can someone please tell me? thanks in advance.
The first thing I want my out of the box robot to do is pour me Japanese tea but English style singing "I'm a little tea-pot...".
The only problem is when the robot starts drinking my dam tea!
And 50 years later. Robots, Running the world.
@thebarnar uh.... It has access to other robots and all human knowledge. It would create a version of itself that would have a barrier to protect itself from the EMP wave. It would also have the ability to override a launch and/or a combination of both.
Human "Shake hands with Bill"
Robot "Kill everything at will?"
Must make some flawless cocktails.
this is goddamn interesting. Future, here we come!
Adaptability its a very important feature, I'm glad it is starting to be applied.
also "I can't do this because I don't know how" O_O
what a humble and polite robot!
Finally, a robot that is smarter then my little brother.
love the chromatic abbreviation in this video
game over humanity, thanks for playing
@Teranex I'm sure it only works for motion controls, we're not talking about skynet here. This thing is not the technological singularity.
as long as it doesn't become like any of the machines in The Terminator, I'm happy with it.
I want to hug it
this is a first step a head to "i am a robot"
I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.
In the immortal words of Bender: "Well, we're boned."
4 people think robots will rule us all in the future.
I knew the Terminator movies were real. This is the beginning of skynet. I noticed the one part where they said the robot can match things in his environment to past experiences or experiences from other robots. Link up a couple of million of these and were doomed. So... It's a super intelligent bartender robot
Capcom teach me that a "Robot That Can Learn, Think And Act By Itself" its called a reploid.
that pattern is how human brain input works
This technology is fascinating!
-Asks robot to pour glass of water
-Robot puts square in cup
...advanced robotics
till a robot gets online and asks how to make tea, and a hacked robot tells it to go grab a long knife.
Very good!!!
so here it begins.
@kiaser21 But what about the laws of robotics? D:
2:50 water is defined as pebbles and the cube represents the ice cube.
you can see "cvReleaseImage" in the source code, i.e. they use OpenCV library for visual recognotion. this library is free and anyone can use it :)
That's radical man
when that robot learns more and more it will be the start of terminators
I've lived in Europe and agree who heatedly. I apologize if that wasn't clear enough in my original response. I was referring to Europe in a historical context, not in its present-day incarnation.
@BruceVu Chi?
I just noticed that the blue foam cube is supossed to be an ice cube. Serving a drink in a cup and putting ice? Man, this is a barman-robot!
Eve no Jikan is a great anime
to get into. It explains a lot about robots, and feelings.
And it's very indepth. Most of you here i'm sure will like it
The start of Detroit become human

Awesome. Just. Awesome.

I think this is so cool!
how u have made

*Moves doomsday clock forward*
this pleases me
Now let's put this thing in a Pontiac Trans Am GTA...
Don't forget to have them follow the three rules of robotics. Always obey owner, Never endanger human life, and never endanger own life unless to follow rules 1 or 2.
that's the weirdest looking water I've ever seen...
Exciting times. The very beginning of the intelligence revolution.
Man, just think: If every innovation in robotics was combined, We'd probably have a Robot that could imitate a human quite well.
Sskyward FalconGaming "If every innovation in robotics was combined", INCLUDING THIS ONE.
Each day brings us closer to when humans will truly be living among the intelligent robots we observe in science fiction movies. Cool. :)
That's some chunky water.
Sometime later it will become self aware LOL
Me: HEY! ROBOT! HURRY UP WITH MY DRINK DAMMIT! Robot: I'll put water in the glass
This is the New World in which I would want to live in.
Reminds me of the command droids from star wars clone wars anime but the applications for AI and robotics are well endless
Soon it'll be carrying the shell of its crazy robot girlfriend screaming: "What am I fighting FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRR!!!!"
This, although quite impressive, scares the hell out of me.
This guy invents armegeddon
fascinating
sooo...you can't control the robot. You know from killing me
Very cool
the robot remind me of the first Mighty morphin power ranger Alpha 5 in 90s.
i understand that it figures out problems on its own and what it doesnt know it says it doesnt know how to tackle the problem.... what would happen if 2 or 3 of these each had a skill set or knowledge of tackling tasks that differ from the next? would they interact and share the information or attempt to educate eachother?
It's important for the SOINN machine learning to know what it's doing is right or wrong.
