@@kevinty7 After first hearing the Maids in 2014, and then meeting and experiencing their live shows, supporting the Maids is a passion and a privilege to give back anything I can for what they've given me. Thx, Kevin! 🤘🎀

Last song of the evening. Akane-san (drummer) always gets emotional with this song in particular. If you watch the Edward Hunt fancam from House of Blues Chicago of this song, you'll see her with tears.

I was there, about 50ft back or maybe closer near center. I noticed it at the time it looked like she was teary-eyed. Can't blame her; this song is special and I hold it dear in my heart as well. Honestly, it should stay their closer for shows. It's the perfect "Thank You and Goodbye!" song.

Emotional rollercoaster night for singer Saiki. She chose the final night of the 10th anniversay tour...biggest crowd ever...to sit alone, as a recent newbie rookie player, at a grand piano and perform a simple emotional arrangement of 'Choose Me'. Crowd silent, you could hear a pin drop...beautiful vocal👌❤ Big old brass balls on this lady I tell thee 💪🔥

Last song of the final concert of Band-Maid's 10th Anniversary tour. Akane (drums) is really struggling to hold it together, especially in the beginning. Everyone is a little red-eyed. Thanks for the reaction!

You can see that Akane was about to burst into tears at the end like she did in Chicago.

@@kevinty7There’s really more to the story actually. One, Akane is always emotional when they play this song as, from what I’ve been told, when they were filming the music video for this song, her Grandmother passed away.
Second, this was by far the biggest one-man show Band-Maid had ever played. They had actually struggled to gain a large following in Japan for many years. It had taken them years of grinding out shows in smaller clubs and festivals, only building a Japanese following slowly. For their first 4-5 years they probably never had a Japanese audience bigger than 2k They were more popular and playing bigger festivals overseas. But they preserved, and gradually they were finally playing to home crowds of 4-5k, when, they were finally invited to play a one-man show at the revered Budakon, which holds I think about 10k people. The show was to be in maybe April 2020.
Then ofc, the pandemic hit and they weren’t able to play that show. 😢 They were all really disappointed and depressed with the pandemic situation.
But it was Saiki who, about 2-3 weeks into the March 2020 lockdowns, regained her drive and led the band out of their sadness and got the band to start a period of very intense work. They wrote and recorded the incredible, intense album “Unseen World” and released it in January 2021. They also did many online, virtual concerts (Okyujis - Servings). They used Social Media more, posted more content on UA-cam, did lots of interviews. Encouraged UA-cam reactions! They actually gained a lot of traction during the pandemic both overseas and at home in Japan. 🇯🇵
Then in the fall 2022, they toured the US, played bigger festivals and lots of one-man shows in venues. This got them lots of attention in Japan and they played a show in front of about 8-9k fans in January, 2023 at the new Tokyo Garden Theatre. This was essentially their Budakon moment.
They toured the US more, a weather fluke had them play in front of 20k+ (maybe 30k+) at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona, FL.
As Kanami is from Yokohama, and Misa & Akane went to the Tokyo School of music - they’d all been to concerts at the Yokohama Arena. Their success allowed them to finally book and sell this big 10th Anniversary concert at the 16k+ Yokohama Arena. They maybe didn’t sell-out but it was close and they probably had 13-15k there, still a big show in a big Arena. And they put a lot into this 3.5 hour show with 33 songs, several MC’s, extended musical sections for song introductions, bass & guitar battles, a drum solo.
So there is so much emotion the Maids are experiencing as this show came to an end. They’d given it everything for 10 years to get there. That’s what the emotion and tears are about - they are well earned and well-deserved. 🙌🏼🔥🎤🥁🎸🎶
Take care and enjoy the journey down the Band-Maid Pigeon Hole! 👏🏼🔥🌎🎶😎✌🏼

Yes this was the conclusion to their 10th Anniversary tour, this past November.
The final verse/reprise was added to directly address the crowd, and the Maidiacs in general.
Genuine tears. A special moment for *Band Maid* 100%
    Great reaction again KEVINTY7.

They have played this song in many sets over the years, but it became a real anthem at the end of their US tour in Oct 2022. It had been a long hot tour them and they were exhausted. Anyway, I think that this was the last song at one of the last shows of the tour and the joy and relief of finishing the tour showed in the tears that flowed that day, particularly from the drummer Akane. The is some great fan cam footage of this event out there if you can find it.

      Not that many sets...
It was first single from "Conqueror", which was released just before the pandemic.
They didnt start touring again in mid 2022, sooo.
But had some online Okyu-ji though...

The emotion and love is so obviously real, and runs both ways. How about going back in time to the first self-written song that was accepted by management, "Alone"?

I will leave you two great Japanese bands you probably do not know: East of Eden (The moment) and Gacharic Spin (I wish I) - those suggestion are just a start for your journey. Band Maid is my first choice, but Japanese scene do not stop with Lovebites and Band Maid. Enjoy.
