Долго искал прохождение, спасибо, порадовал)
The music alone is world class. Truly stunning.
Those paranoid screams in the jungle, the almost 3d in the tunnels, nightfight with flares, this game had vibes!
Those underground tunnel sections are pretty impressive-looking FPS action for 1987!
snozzlehead92 yes, plus the real-time interactive map and items. Incredible ammount of work put into this title. Absolutely incredible game.
@@EvilKris The only tier game to this one in ammount of real time item interactivity would be 'Force 7' in my opinion. That thing was unbelievable at that time. Role playing management at it's finest.
Wow, this game was pretty ambitious for its time, it has a nice variety of levels: a side-scroller, an early attempt at first person shooter, a point-and-click element, a rail shooter... It's pretty neat for '87!
elite and ultima V were far more impressive. it's cool for a shooter though
Yes it's a classic the nes version is really good as well for an 8bit game
played this as a kid but never finished it. Now I finally get to see the ending. Thanks man
same here , i think i might have got to the tunnel level It's amazing how many of these games are 20 minute games, and most of us where stuck in the 1st 5 minutes of them
My Father and I played this together when I was a little kid. Good memories. Thank you for uploading this video.
That music in the “tunnel zone” is absolutely legendary.
This was my favourite game on C64. I remember I couldn't believe how good the graphics were
Damn i love that underground music! Music composer really nailed it here with tense and atmospheric music. It's amazing how composers managed to produce such feelings with very limited resources. Amazing!
I love the soundtrack of this game. The second c64 game whose music I remember to this day is "dylan dog".
Yet another amazing soundtrack by Jonathan Dunn - one of the original masters of producing stunning soundtracks for our beloved breadbox 😊
“Somebody once wrote, "Hell is the impossibility of reason." That's what this place feels like. Hell.”
- Chris Taylor
Commodore 64 had some great music in some games
No shit Sherlock :)
Martin Galway, Matt Gray and Jonathan Dunn created some of the most iconic C64 tunes. Just magical 👌

O M G! The fabled tunnel sections, I never even got that far. I got to the village hits but never into the tunnels, when you are 9 years old in the 80s, C64 games seemed so difficult! This was the best in the "Hollywood" pack that came with the C64. The other games seemed impossible, Great Escape looked good but I had no idea what to do & Miami Vice involved the car speeding up & crashing straight away!
My Miami Vice never loaded properly. It always crashes out loading. And top gun was dull. I did like The Krypton Factor though.
The soldier who rises from the water and tries to stab you always scared me when I played this game. XD
same here :)
This music!!!
Played this so much as a kid. Got to the bunker/foxhole but never got to finish it.
Used to just lord the game to let the music play as well.
One of the few good memories i have from my childhood
I agree 👍 but I believe that it is *load* not *lord*🤔...
one of the first game i ever played when i was a child, awesome soundtrack !!!
Although I haven't played or seen it for decades, I still remember every single detail of this game! I know every screen frame by frame and I can tell easily the way through the labyrinth in level 1 (the jungle). I always liked the variety of the level design and I think level 2 (the underground tunnel system) is the most thrilling one. I remember that I've beaten the game only once as a kid (I never finished the night shooting at the end of level 2), but that was some moment!!! Brilliant game - and hard as f%§k (at least for my 10 y.o. me)!!!
You have a very strong memory. :)
awesome music too
This was way ahead of its time
how or why was C64 Platoon game ahead of its time
woomy
@jasonlee7816 The *fantastic graphics 😎 * and *The GREAT soundtrack* among other factors make *Platoon* way ahead of its time...
As a little kid I could never get out of the jungle. Those tripwires always got me. Had to settle with beating Sokoban. 🤣
i remember that i sucked at this game haha. but i was a little kid
I remember it took me weeks to make it past the first level. The graphics and the music urged me to keep on trying. Awesome game, would love to play it again all these years later.
Go for it - that's what emulation is for!
Awesome game. I always prefered C64 version over Amiga version and Dunn's music really kicks ass.
Thanks for the upload, nostalgia like whoa!
was recently humming this tune and had no idea where it was coming from memory till now, thanks :)
And here we could have had an awesome Sergeant Barnes boss battle with a grenade duel.
Nope. We just get a thorough napalming and then putting an evil jerk out of his misery.
Interestingly enough, the NES version had the actual ending part with Chris Taylor saluting a staff-swinging Rhah from the chopper as it takes off and the credits roll.
Those tunnels were so creepy!
They still are, amazing atmosphere 👏
I never realized there were more sections in this game than the 1st side scrolling one.
René Harmsen Me too :-)
Another fantastic Ocean title. Was a bit special this one. Very tough, but very well made and kept you coming back. Felt like it raised the bar a little for C64 games at the time. I never completed the last section. Was fcuking hard that bit.
Hahaha. I remember being 8 or 9 years old and being dumped by the prettiest girl in my class. The only music that could express my devastation was the "game over" score at 18:06... Unbelievable score with such limited technology.
Sad Story bro!
This looks great! How the hell did I miss this gem
i never got passed the tunnels - Such an awesome soundtrack all the way through to putting ur name up!
wow ! haben die sich wirklich mühe gegeben ! ich konnte mich nur noch an das geile Titelbild in schwarz weiß erinnern das über den Border ging . Musik war auch mega ! komisch das es nicht so hängengeblieben ist in der Gaming History
I remember getting the 2nd level as a stand alone game (Blaze Out?) for the light gun with the 'Light Fantastic' C64 set. I just sat there aged about 6 or 7 watching my Dad playing it and kicking ass at it. My Dad is 65 now and smiled when I reminded him about it. 8-BIT and 80's computing will always make the best memories.
Brilliant!
Me explotó el cerebro, no sabía que había un juego de esta película. Excelente video brother 👍👍
Fantastic game! So many different features for its time!
I remember getting this included with the C64 in some Games pack, probably all Ocean related. What an absolute gem and quite surprising for a movie cash-in which it was far from. Stunning music from Jonathan....
Quite a cool remix of the soundtrack to this game: ua-cam.com/video/IxCAwOlVKaI/v-deo.html (New links added)
Loved that game, great sound track. Also loved midnight resistance
Can remember we called The Lost Patrol 'Platoon on the Amiga'
I just remember coming to that bridge bit, absolutely gripped and thinking, shit is about to get real.. What a game!
This game was murder on the gamer self-esteem. By the fiftieth time I’d start over I’d switch to Commando. Really cool but really tough.
i always liked the tunnel rat part
This was one of the toughest games ever. I used a poke sheet to cheat the first level then it crashed going into the bunker. Cheaters don't prosper. After 37 years I have finally seen the end.
Loved this game. Could never get past stage 3 though. Although I was only 8. Loved the Untouchables too. Another great movie tie in by Ocean
John Tyrrell the untouchables lol memories
I remember me and my buddy restarting the tape for hours trying to get this game to work. Hours.
9:06 Yes, this is a table 😁
That tunnel music ❤️ what a game..
Really captures the sentiment of the film
Masterpiece, in every aspect imaginable. The underground tunnel section stucks with you and haunts you your whole life tens of years later.
That tunnel section scared the crap out of me as an 8 year old !
I remember the game for me sometimes wouldn't load the 2nd stage was always a lottery and would take 20 mins to load lol
absolutely, it was a thing you thought about before deciding to play, "well, its good, but it may not load"
Yes! but on a c64 tape, you needed to rewind the tape a few sec in between levels, for the soft to connect to the hardware. Know all about it...
These days you can simply load using a .tap file.
Adster haha I’m hearing you😀
Last jungle part has very typical music for an Ocean game; like Miami Vice, etc.
I like it.
Music on the first mission was just great for its time
Very good gameplay, way to go.
The good ol c64 , the good ol days
Great tunes
this was a great game still looks good haven't seen it for years
What hardware did you use to attain such a perfect capture?
Brilliant! Zapp 64 printed the maps which enabled me to finally get past the first section. Amazing graphics for the time, I remember the tunnels being particularly stressful. 😂
Something else for it’s time impressive
My Father in law is a Vietnam vet and he confirmed this is exactly how it went down.
Wow! I played so many movie tie-in's on C64 from Ocean back in the day - can't believe I never got my hands on Platoon.
The gameplay, music and overall atmosphere is absolutely brilliant!
Nice gameplay!
I was 17 when I got this game. The same year it was released.
The music was awesome!
Fantastic game. Some of the best music on the C64.
First game I played on the C64!
this is one of the few games i paid for, organized piracy in schools and between users back then were common . in my opinion among the best movie games on c64 even if i always died in the jungle. music is superb!
The beginnings of the action-adventure genre.
Awesome Soundtrack
I loved this game.
This looks and sounds way better than the DOS version.
this game makes me very old
Ah...Nostalgia!
I like this music better than the music in the NES version of platoon
The first casualty of war is innocence. My first c64 had a problem in that is didn’t play any sound. Took me 2 weeks to figure it out and bring it back. That was 1985 ish. This game was in the bundle, Holywood collection as I remember.
what was the issue with your C64?
was it in C64 Hollywood Collection?
Like the movie this game shows the madness of war like no other! :)
Were all these levels on the tape version as well? 😮
Yes they all were.
Great games and music
You didn't really show off choosing different soldiers. Did they have different weapons and character models, or were they all the same?
They're identical. They just have separate ammo and hit counters (they're basically lives you can toggle)
einfach nur Kult
one of my first c64 games, me 10 y old, trying to beat the game but failed all the time, still i loved it
here cause of Game Grumps, the music on this is great.
Thankyou
Remember buying this at toys r us and there was no disk in the box . never got to play it :p
Anyone got this working in TheC64 maxi?
I LOVE C64 ❤❤ FOREVER ❤❤❤❤❤
I rember this game took a lifetime to load from tape
18:06 Hamburger Hill 🤫
I had a version of this for my (nowhere near as good) computer back in the 80s. I could never get out of the jungle.
25 years later i findout the end of the game :D
7:05 - So that's how it happens. : (
Wish someone would remix the in-game music for the first level
Ocean was best back then for c.64 games
Dat music tho...
Game starts at 0:02:12
Year 2020 here
i rented this on NEs and couldnt' figure it out and was bored after like 20 minutes (which apparently is the time it would have taken me to finish it if i HAD figured it out). never even knew there was a first person part.
It's not for being too stupid or impatient though, after all i did finish Rambo on NES....
das waren noch zeiten
I got Platoon from that club where you would buy 4 games for 25p and then get sent a full-price game every month? I may be wrong on the odd point but they always advertised in Zzap 64 or C&VG my Mum would always go mad and write to them saying I was only 13 and to stop sending games as she wouldn't be buying them, I think I at least did it twice over the years got the stupidly price games at the start and then I bought one game Platoon with my New Barclays cheque book.
