I bought a a Singer first but due to not being able to thread it do to bad eyesight, I sent it back and bought a Brother. What a difference in needle threading systems. The Brother gets a 100+ and the Singer gets a 50. Come on Singer step it up. I grew up with you. I have a Singer that has never been serviced and my mom bought it for me when I was 18 and I am now 68 so do the math and it still works today as a back up when my Brother is being serviced. Thank you for showing me how to use my needle threader. I have had 3 laying around my sewing room and have never used it because I didn't know how. Now I do. Thank you!

The BEST demo on using the Dritz. Was ready to give up sewing. But, your demo was large and EZ to see. I've watched others demos, but it didn't work everytime. Your right the older we get our eyes aren't very good... I'm having Cataract surgery soon in Nov. 2022.
This was a great video. I have the plastic threader it works but you still have to put the thread in between the wires, my sewing machine has the automatic threader and you have to have it lined up perfect. I'm going to get the Dritz Needle Threader

Debts Reynolds, hope your surgery went as well as mine did. For everyday, normal activities I no longer need glasses. But for tiny print of ingredients lists I do need a little help (150magnification) just over counter reading glasses. I also use the same glasses when threading sewing machine needle by hand. Use to need 400magnification to thread needle.

I use size 14 needle. Knot between 2 different thread can go through the hole easy.

OMG! I never knew what that was for. It came as an accessory with my machine. In trying to figure out what it was, I pierced my finger and it bent the metal part. Now that I know what it is, I will have to go get a new one and use it. Thank you!!!!

@@melanieyu151 Amazon, Walmart, sewing machine dealers and most fabric shops. Just do a search for Dritz needle threader, there are other brands that work the same.
Good tip. Also you can try cutting your thread at an angle using a very sharp scissor. The tip of the thread will then be easier to insert.

That's how I was taught 40 years ago and that's what I've always done. The thread tip is finer & easy to insert through the eye of the needle this way.
@@dennisyoung4631 so does spraying end of thread with hairspray. I keep a travel size can near my sewing machine.
It is easier for a rich man to get into heaven than it is to thread cotton through the eye of a needle.

I find a pair of tweezers, a good light source and decent magnifying glass is best. Get the thread with 1/8" of thread protruding from the tweezers, focus the magnifying glass and its easy. I find the Dritz very hit and miss, it tends to push the thread through and then pull it out again

I can vouch for the growing difficulty with threading the needle.
Waxing the tip of the thread with beeswax helps a little.

This was the very best demo of using the Dritz needle threader. What is the smallest needle it will work on? My Singer S32 heavy duty (lol). needle threader doesn't work on size 9 or 10 needles. Which was the size my eyes used to need help with threading. The red w/wire threader is easier to see if you put a tiny bit of nail polish or paint on inside of tip. I used a toothpick to apply it. (Imp. Dont.put the paint on outside of tip, that will just take up space in needle eye, which is needed for thread. Once you can see the tip, easier to put in eye of needle. Sometimes it helps to squeeze the ends of wire closer together, making tip smaller. White thread can also be difficult to see just use a sharpie and touch end of thread then you can see it. Sorry using this type threader is much easier and takes less time than typing these directions on my phone for this comment. I am off to watch a few more of your videos.
Thanks for the feedback and tip about using paint on the other type of threader. Sorry, I don't know the smallest size the Dritz threader works on. I gave my needle treaders to my mom when I returned her sewing machine. I borrowed her sewing machine to make face masks at the start of the pandemic.

I have been threading my sewing machine wrong for all the years , I thought the machine auto thread went in first then hook thread on that little hook let go and it pulled it through. Though I love the idea of the needle inserter . Lots of help thank you for the tutorial 😊

I bought one of these and it's a nightmare of hit or miss. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. And when it does, it usually pulls the thread right back out of the needle again. Also, it is very cheaply made.

The you are doing it wrong. Make sure the thread is across the arrow and that the arrow us pointed to the needle.

I don't have a dritz. But I discovered a similar type which are the best needle threaders. Those stupid wire ones are less than useful. By the time i get the wire in the needle hole I am so frustrated I walk away from the project

You don’t need your eyes to thread a needle… it’s one of those things you just do with your fingers… you don’t poke it thru the hole. Just guide it thru
I’m interested in seeing how that works. Do you have a video or know of a video that shows the technique?
@@HacksbyDad licking the thread is key… you just pinch it between your fingers, so the end is in between your fingers, put the needle hole lined up with the thread to the tip of your fingers and just roll your fingers, and the thread just goes thru… my mom’s aunt was near blind, worked as a seamstress for 60-70 years. I have nervous system problems and really shaky hands…

I’ve always had a fascination with metalwork and early machining… I haven’t found better examples of that than sewing machines… the first time I looked underneath one at a thrift store…
I’ve made a bunch of things out of old pants from the thrift store rejects, but not much lately…
been busy converting my car for overland… right now, it’s a good idea to be ready to evacuate, and not need assistance for a week or 2… A bunker and supplies for 2 years isn’t gonna do it. If you have a pile of supplies, that makes you a target, for thieves, and we can’t stay home for 2 weeks, what makes you think you can make 2 years?
Any tips? Want any? Water is the biggest concern. Weight distribution is the second. The lower you can get the weight, the better, and evenly… Maybe water storage in the bumpers? That’s one I’m still working on…
