This truck is absolutely fantastic, and Im not a truck person: the patina, the body lines, and those tires. But as I said in the chat, the stack needs a custom chrome heat shield with a dot image of Rich's face on the side.
My wife and I saw you on the highway Saturday afternoon while in traffic. The truck looks great and not too much smoke every time you punch it. Great job on the exhaust, perfect from behind.
I like how the prevoius owner could have thrown any tires on there, but decided to go with these oversized garden tractor turf wheels :) Looks like a grown Tonka truck for men :)

If you remove the screws in the bed, the wood pieces slide forward or backwards and come out. It's a common thing to do with these kinds of beds for a "clean" finish.

Only thing I'd do with the paint, is lightly sand with 400 grit , then a couple coats of satin clear! Maybe a bit of rust converter on the surface rust! Then clear coat it!

Honestly if any big old truck gets an EV swap, do it on an old military truck like the M35. A big six wheel drive military truck would be the pinnacle of a high output EV build, tons of room for a massive battery pack, and you could throw an obscene amount of motor power at it, and it'd handle it fairly well considering the extra tire contact the third axle gives. Arguably you could do the same to any 6x6 platform, but I think the old military truck style would give you the optimal amount of room for stuffing it with power.

That's because you didn't prep it properly. You need to spray it with a deck cleaner and then pressure wash it, wait for it to dry, and then coat it. If all that was done, file a warranty claim. But I've never seen it peel like that if it was prepped properly. I've got some on jobs that I did years ago, and it's still fine. an acid or alkaline based cleaner is best, but a sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, or some other bleaching deck cleaner works too. Or you can sand it and use a less harsh cleaner. Or you can pressure wash it with an acute tip, and ablate the surface. There are a bunch of ways, but it's like any other coating process; it's all in the prep. Another mistake may have been you not giving it to the paint guy to put in the shaker.

The EPA story reminds me of my great uncle who was a dairy Farmer the key word is was. OSHA came into his dairy Barn and told him he had to put signs up that cow manure was slippery when wet. Needless to say my uncle had a few choice words and through the man out on his butt. The next day OSHA showed up with the US Marshal and told my uncle that he had to put up signs that cow manure was slippery when wet. So my uncle told the guy from OSHA and the US Marshal the day that he has to put a sign up the cabin slippery when wet is the last day he's going to be a dairy Farmer. He fired everybody that day.

I know Diesel engines pretty well brother. And 1 of this era the easiest way to stop the black smoke is to run it on vegi oil, or used filtered vegi oil that you can get cheap from fast food places in bulk. Sometimes for free lol. Plus the exhaust smells like French fries👍👍
Sometimes I question the people that watch any youtube video complaining like female dogs. When I was growing up. If there was a show on tv you did not like. You change channel and move on but today it seems like people just watch the video and complain when no one is forcing them to watch anything. Your content is entertaining, informative and your not attacking anyone unlike mainstream media or people that complain in any comment section on a video. Keep giving us the good content Rich and remember people only seem to want to hate on you when you are doing something right.
It also depends - it’s ok to make some complain which can be taken into consideration (I.e. how to make something better/different way in both work and content producing), but yeah “this video sucks” without any additional info makes no sense
I would clean the truck up a lot and place some short rails on that bed to make it more useful, clean, stain and coat the wood. Definitely clean up that smoking issue because it take away the beautiful of owning a beautiful classic in this society..🤔😊

Wouldn't the wind try to force it closed in that case? Sideways, the wind doesn't affect the cap while actually causing a small vacuum on the exhaust.

I know Diesel engines pretty well brother. And 1 of this era the easiest way to stop the black smoke is to run it on vegi oil, or used filtered vegi oil that you can get cheap from fast food places in bulk. Sometimes for free lol. Plus the exhaust smells like French fries👍👍
They already tried running a truck on veg oil a few episodes back it didn't turn out well

Sometimes I question the people that watch any youtube video complaining like female dogs. When I was growing up. If there was a show on tv you did not like. You change channel and move on but today it seems like people just watch the video and complain when no one is forcing them to watch anything. Your content is entertaining, informative and your not attacking anyone unlike mainstream media or people that complain in any comment section on a video. Keep giving us the good content Rich and remember people only seem to want to hate on you when you are doing something right.
It also depends - it’s ok to make some complain which can be taken into consideration (I.e. how to make something better/different way in both work and content producing), but yeah “this video sucks” without any additional info makes no sense
This stuff has been going on since radio at least. For some reason some people can't be responsible for their choices.
I would clean the truck up a lot and place some short rails on that bed to make it more useful, clean, stain and coat the wood. Definitely clean up that smoking issue because it take away the beautiful of owning a beautiful classic in this society..🤔😊
Rich you are an amazing father, your daughter obviously shares your comedic styles and you can see the connection you have with her. As a father with a daughter in her teens I have an appreciation for that bond especially when one can tell you've done a great job. Thank for giving us a glimpse of your private off camera life.
