Thank you for the video. To me I see a pitfall in believing there is a "spiritual welfare system" that makes things right... I am reminded of a quote by MV Summers (an author I like) around this topic: _People will say everything that happens in life happens for a purpose. That sounds so edifying. It sounds so spiritual to say that, but it really is not true at all. Everything happens. What is your purpose?_ Just putting this out here...I appreciate Watts' observations about our separation from others - it is a great issue...
In my experience it's always been easier to deal with my suffering when I can find a purpose for it. Most often that purpose is revealed at a much later time - so believing that 'everything happens for a purpose' is an important step in the process of uncovering YOUR purpose, as you say. Cheers my friend.
@@cory8760 Yes, I hear you. Suffering is another great topic... I don't think the meaning of the quote I shared is meant to detract meaning from our lives. At least for me, suffering has led to learning many important lessons and realizations... Actually the text I quoted also talks about suffering. It is titled "Dealing with Anger and Frustration"... I mention it because I find the text very insightful.
AW also said, "a hill lifts you up it - you have to cooperate of course". So this is a welfare where you have to cooperate. Meaning you get what you ask for: it's fine if you want to stay at the bottom of the hill. It's also fine at the top. You just pick your favorite view.
