St. Gallen - Riethüsli in der Appenzeller Bahn

Am 2. April 2018 fährt zum letzten Mal ein Zug auf der alten Ruckhaldenstrecke. Ab dem 3. April fahren Bahnersatzbusse, die alte Strecke wird zurückgebaut. Am 6. Oktober fahren die neuen Züge fahrplanmässig durch den neuen Ruckhaldentunnel.
Die Ruckhaldenkurve ist die engste Zahnradkurve Europas. Mit der Einstellung der alten Strecke wird die Kurve Geschichte. Dafür können die neuen Züge ca. 2 Minuten schneller fahren, was den 15 Minuten Takt ermöglich.

Thank you for posting this. I was on holiday from UK in Appenzell in May 2018, and wanted to make this journey, but of course I was too late - there was a partial bus replacement instead. I look forward to revisiting and seeing the new works. Lovely part of the world.
