Good morning! Where is everyone watching from? 😄
Raeford, North Carolina

Chatsworth GA.
Friday Harbor, Wa
Windsor, ON, Canada
Trent is saying right"hey I resemble that remark"!!! Lol love that you mentioned GSL AND TRENT AND ALLIE
Greg many years ago I was cross country skiing in our river valley over hills bridges etc. After about 4 hours we were near exhaustion, with one major bridge and hill to traverse. I went first and told my friend that I was going to bail half way down because I was exhausted and that is when you can get injured because muscles don't respond the same at that point. My friend told me he was going to try it in one stretch with no bail out. I made it safely to the bottom to end a great day of skiing. My friend made it to the bottom but had no control in stopping and his face basically acted as a brake. He got up with a bloody face, broken ski and broken ski pole, thankfully no broken bones. I learnt a valuable lesson at my friend's expense to trust my gut and recognize the signs that your body is sending. You like me learnt the easy way, good job Greg. Remember you always have to care for yourself for Katie's benefit and your future family. Keep up the great work.
That tickled me "if you want safe go and watch Trent and Allie" so true. Ceiling looks awesome 👌
This is Shirley living in Nottingham, Maryland originally from Florida. What a great look on the ceiling❣️❣️❣️And you mentioned two of my favorite UA-camrs!! God bless you both❤️🙏❤️
You picked the right stain, and it looks great. And you did right thing when getting frustrated, time to stop and rest up and begin in the morning. It is a lot of work, working overhead, and worth it when finished. Florida Panhandle here. 😉
I think y’all did a phenomenal job, imperfections,& all. You did it yourselves,& you’re only human. Looking good,& moving forward. Can’t wait to see what’s next.💯❤️👍🏾😀🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Well done. It’s always best to take a break when you get tired or frustrated.
You can get that headliner back in place by taking it down, spraying the inside of the roof with spray adhesive, then carefully reattaching it.
Cool, thanks
Well, I think it is BEAUTIFUL!! The little imperfections here and there, is what makes it a HOME, not just another house! Oh yeah.... Phoenix, Arizona!
Well folks..... I'm glad to see the smile at the end. Putting up that last board was the icing on the cake. Well done as usual, I'm sometimes taken a back as to the what's done well. We must remember at the end of the day you determine what is good in your eyes. You got good taste..
The ceilings look fantastic and you will enjoy looking at them when you are relaxing in the evenings after a hard day's work.
Those are perfect imperfections. Beautiful. After all wood is a living material not «flat» and plasticy. Therein lies its beauty.
The ceiling really looks great, I love the color, keep up the good work and your house will be done in no time. Springfield, Ohio
happy wife happy life lol im in london ontario i love you guys you have amazing work ethics you never show that your tired or frustrated bravo god bless
We get both tired and frustrated, but for the most part we are happy to just be working together ❤️
On pine wood when staining, I always buy a can of sanding sealer and put one coat on all the pine. It really works and faster than using a sander and no dust. The sanding sealer closes the pine wood pores so it eliminates blotching and dark spots on the pine boards. Makes the stain more uniform in color.
Imperfection is what gives the house it's charme!
Boy, does this area ever look like the Okanagan? What a beautiful area!
Watching from the UK near Heathrow airport. the ceiling looks great, you say there are imperfections but that's the beauty of wood, Once the rest of the room is done you will hardly notice,
Tongue and groove is definitely a lot of work but it is so worth it. Guys did a fantastic job and it looks beautiful. I think you want it looking a little rustic then absolutely perfect because of where you live. Happy happy happy for you all and stay safe and waiting for next weeks video !! 🍺🍺🍺😎🇺🇸🇺🇸
LOOKS FANTASTIC GUYS. PAT YOURSELVES ON THE BACK, JOB WELL DONE ‼️‼️ Vinny 🇺🇸
you two are fantastic, holding down full time jobs and building your really nice abode. Aloha Nui Loa
I was just sitting here wondering where in BC you were, then you mention Good Simple Living, so now I know you are closer to Idaho. I lived in a cabin up near the border outside of Colville, Washington (Northport) back in the very early '80's when I was in my mid 20's. That dark really shows the wood grain.
Yep, we're close to Washington/Idaho border
Very nice job !!! yes sir👍💪💪 you are a very lucky man, your wing woman skills are awesome.👏👏
As long as your happy that's all it matters , I like the walnut stain color.
Your dogs are so adorable ❤❤❤❤
Some advice on installing anything that is tongue and groove. Grab a small scrap piece and put it in the groove of the board you need to hammer on. Then hammer on that. This way hammering can't damage the groove on your mounted boards.
HAVE WATCHED IT BEFOREON MY TV. WAS UNABLE TO COMMENTTILL I SAW IN OM MY LAPTOP. ENJOYED THEM ALL.
It really looks nice, I hope your ceiling is square. Watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸 No Snow Just Breeze !
Hi from Wisconsin, I hope you don't think I'm criticizing you but your beautiful friends need to be buckled ..in or restrained in some way for their own safety. Please don't be upset. I enjoy your videos. You are a strong lady🤗🤗🥰😁
Love the sound of the thunder and rain!!
From here in Virginia the ceiling really looks great. I know the work gets tedious and frustrating sometimes but I hope you both can enjoy the progress and see the light at the end of the tunnel. This is going to be a truly warm and cozy home. Take joy in the accomplishment, it is a job well done.
Oh my...those mountains are the bomb. Love that you guys are kind of neighbour's. Awesome area.
I'm from Ohio and your house is looking very good really like watching your videos.
Looking more warm and cozier all the time! Thanks for the nice video and congrats on the success of your hard work. Life can be a rewarding challenge for those who dare! Ron PTL USA
From Connecticut… congrats on finishing ceiling…. Last piece is always frustrating. Especially when you’re tired… you getting close! Keep it going
Really fantastic job guys! Sorry I missed this one in the series. I lost internet to my shop where I watch 99.9% of my UA-cam channels.
Oooh its so beautiful! I liked the mocha too but damn that special walnut is purty!!
They are not imperfections, they add character to the ceiling, keeps it from being boring. Looks great, that what I want in my house, that look there
Special Walnut for the win!
From the Gulf Coast of south Texas. Tip for that last piece of T&G: If you are leading with tongues of the installed boards, go ahead and cut off the top part of the groove on that last piece. It's narrow and way too difficult to nest well anyway. I won't tell and no one will notice. You two are doing great work. It looks awesome!
Yes, for the last few pieces we did cut off the groove. Much easier!
@@ThisOffGridLife I think it's a naturally occurring "AH-HA" moment. LOL
What a nice look with the warm white walls.....the imperfections you see will most likely disappear with time, I know I don’t see mine anymore!
Ceiling looks great. You are both doing a wonderful job with our home. I notice on other homestead channels their chicken tractors, are half the width of your, not so hard to move and would better in our environment. Alberta Fan
It just gives it character!!! That ceiling is absolutely gorges, You could not have picked a better color ( one of my favorites ) I build a little furniture here and there and lots of jewelry boxes,
and of course, I have about two dozen clocks.
Great video. We had a 98' Dodge for 20 years, reliable truck. Ceiling looks great. From Michigan.
Hey neighbor, North Eastern WA, just a few miles from Idaho and Canadian borders. love the ceiling!!
Looks gorgeous. The imperfections are what make it so unique, that's what I tell myself when I'm doing a project anyway 😂Have a great week x

LOOKS GREAT.... PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF!
Hi there watching from Queensland Australia just love the colour of the stain looks amazing great choice your home is coming together kudos to you both stay safe ❤️🇦🇺👍❤️👍🇦🇺
Great job guys! Looks good, sometimes you just gotta take a break and then hit it again later. Take care.
Great job and a lovely colour. Progress may seem slower than you'd like, but hey, progress is progress!
You can fix that droopy ceiling with some spray adhesive. Get your whisk broom and spray a section, then use the broom to smooth the material back into place. Work from the center out.
Albuquerque NM, Green Chile capital of the world. The tongue and groove ceiling looks fantastic. We had one build about a dozen years ago back in the northwest where we did the same on a build. We left ours natural but we can see your stain made it better than how our natural had turned out, great choice! With our current build we will likely copy what you did but will have to use New Mexico pine vigas separating the tongue and groove. Cheers from NPL!
Food for thought anytime you're standing softwood he always wipe it down with mineral spirits first so the stain comes out evenly and they match just a tip from a pro
Watching from Edmonton, we have spent a lot of time in the Elkford, Fernie area in the past, beautiful country.
Hello from Florida! Where it's hot nearly year-round! Our seasons are Summer, Spring and Summer Jr. with cold fronts in-between! So jealous of the snow y'all get luckily for us it seems to be a bit cold (our cold is anything from 60 degrees Fahrenheit and below) so we can at least have a some-what cold Christmas, lol. I love watching your videos, very educational and they make me happy. I always look forward to your videos! Keep doing what you're doing!
Sweet Judy is watching from Barbados West Indies.
Greg I can see you got that Wolf blood for work like me! I would knock out big jobs in little phases and then the job was always ending faster in my mind as I worked out all my family problems. I just went head first into my work and forty years flew by then my back injury and Covid-19 all forced me to retire good thing I saved my copper pennies and silver dimes for a rainy day.
The ceiling looks bloody marvelous.
you must be very proud of your work. and rightfully so, it looks beautiful, very, very professional, congratulations, well done, next!!! 😃😄😁
The list is huge 😅
@@ThisOffGridLife good, well done, keeps you busy, after all; you have to do SOMEthing now, don't you? 😂🤣
Texas, USA. Enjoy your program.
Your send off section of the video looks like you guys are behind a green screen. Love the ceiling, definitely added something to my dream home list. Great work
That was a genius fix for knot holes. I've used cardboard in the past. Nice work
Sherman Texas. Love your laid back videos.
Nice wall paint color. Have fun be safe to everyone. And trees are pretty inside and outside..
Beautiful ceiling love your channel Greg and Katie you 2 have it.
North MS very close to TN line. Ceiling looks amazing, perfect color. That was a hugh project, very tedious. Be proud of what you have accomplished. God bless!
So so nice, thank you for sharing your story.
We really like the love you show for your life off grid.
From Grand Rapids Michigan 🌸.
Sometimes little imperfections give more appeal and character to a ceiling and makes it look even better, give yourselves a pat on the back, good job!!!
i could watch you every day, great work. rick from Illinois. 🌹
Definitely the special walnut!! The first one was too light, the second was too dark. Love it!! ❤️👏🏻 11:15 soooooo not safe, lmao!! 😬😂
Just gorgeous I love the stain. Sometimes you have to take a break and regroup
You did a very nice job it looks very good keep up the good work you guys work good together I will keep watching God bless
Looks Fantastic!!! Greetings from Ohio😎
I’m so excited to see bedroom finished
Looks really good. my ceiling is just like that, except 30 years older.
Really beautiful!! Imperfections=Character
Absolutely beautiful country. Your house is becoming a home, looking great.
Greeley, Pennsylvania here, and your room ceiling looks great.
Greg hitting his finger with the hammer. So it's true the hammer finds a nail but in this case Greg's finger nail. Nice ceiling work. Perfect stain color.
when you get to the end of wall , it is good to have suction cups with rachet straps to pull the gap in the tongue and groove. I noticed you never used those.
Greg, tell me that your closer than ever to having a nice home for the two of you to have a home anyone should be proud of. Living in this home is really going to improve how you feel when you all get up in the morning... i love it!
Thanks
I like the rubber cover for the knot holes. Great job you to!
Hey Katie, and Greg. Watching from Tip of the Mitt in Michigans lower peninsula. The ceiling looks great ! I've put a lot of t&g and ship lap up in the past 38 years, and I've yet to dislike it. Always makes a room feel cozy, imo. 👍
Cool idea to use a piece of rubber behind the knot hole, nice one...
I Love The Sound Of Thunderstorms And Your Ceiling Looks Amazing Great Choice On The Walnut Stain Have A Blessed Next Week Much Love From Portland Indiana
Don't forget to stir the can of stain to get the segment off the bottom and mixed well.
