With the competitive WvW conversation I feel like a good way to go about it is using a system similar to the early ESO days. (Not sure if it’s still like this)
But they had a point based participation leaderboard that gave you points for everything you did like capturing objectives and killing other players. It made it competitive where players could compete against each other to get more points by playing the game mode.
Then, at the end of the matchup, players participation points would be categorized into bronze, silver, and gold reward tiers and you’d get rewarded heavily depending on how much you contributed during that matchup.
I think it would be a good system to implement into GW2 WvW because it makes it competitive between other players AND other game modes because you can get equally good rewards/gold as you would in fractals or raids.

Another thought I haven't heard about botting, would be to scale the mobs up. It wouldn't end it, but it would slow it down majorly.

    >>SPEARS AS ELITES: The issue with gw2, without introducing powercreep, is that everything has to sidegrade. This is good, and simple: Add new WAYS to play, without necessarily making them BETTER ways to play. The issue I had with spears is most of them didn't actually introduce tech new enough to make a serious playstyle, but most of that stems from stagnant traits that we've used for years. Elite specs change this dynamic; new weapons don't. Fresh Air Tempest is an entire playstyle from ONE TRAIT, but people mad about Ele spear not activating Persisting Flames or dual skills working for Superior Elements is because all we can do with spear is attempt to slam it through this narrow band of DPS traits we've used forever, because there isn't new Water DPS, no pDPS Earth traits, there's no group support, and a ton of Ele tech has been forced into melee-range over the years.
    >>ACCOUNT-WIDE INFUSION: My conspiracy theory is that we might end up with an expansion with slow-roll progression, using "Bonus damage to Kryptis, reduced damage from Kryptis" (as an example) limiting how far into the expansion we're able to get without grinding for the infusion. It wouldn't hurt content outside the expansion, and mastery has kind of been a joke for expansion progression for years, but cranking all the numbers and forcing us to gear to progress to harder/more valuable zones? Oh lawd

I'm curious how much people are trying out new playstyles with new weapons and how much people are just picking up weapons that fit their playstyle better and ignoring weapons that don't.
It seems to me like players don't agree on what "winning" in WvW means. Many players care more about fighting in large scale than getting rewards of any kind, other players care about objective mechanics and the siege RP, other players just want to fill their reward tracks and don't care how, and in my experience there's nothing but friction between these groups. I feel like incentivizing caring about score would add fire to the feud.

I don't wvw much but apart from large scale fights, I really do enjoy running around solo in wvw with a joint and just fighting random things. Not saying I'm good, just saying I enjoy it sometimes
