      Problem is, is that with the sort of mother Edward had in Queen Victoria, he was rebelling to the best of his ability. It is said that it was his fault his father sickened, and died for which his mother never forgave him.

      @@guadalupebaptista9757 the Queen blamed Edward.
      They didn't like his antics so Albert went to see Edward to talk. Unfortunately the weather was vile and Albert died of typhoid fever two week after visiting Edward. Victoria never forgave Edward for Alberts death.

      Did you see the movie "The Elephant Man'? I don't know if the one scene was factual but Alexandra appears as Princess of Wales, on a visit to the governors of a hospital. She's speaking English of course, but it does have a non-English accent, presumably Danish.

      @gerardmackay8909 Рік тому +1

      @@deniseeulert2503 the actress playing her in that film was Helen Ryan and her Danish accent was very authentic. If you are interested in Alexandra you should immerse yourself in the costume drama series, Edward VII, first televised in 1975 (excellent all round, and faithful and accurate to her’s and Edward’s life). It’s available on UA-cam I think and again Helen Ryan played her with enormous charm and authenticity. Helen would be the first to concede that capturing Alexandra’s breathtaking beauty was an impossible task but she is nonetheless very attractive, capturing too her warm loving nature, so that her all round performance is extremely accomplished.

    The more I read about this extraordinary woman, the more I wish I could have met her. I know she was absolutely devoted and extremely generous to the London Hospital in Whitechapel. For the time, she was unusually tactile. Whenever a Royal servant died, Alexandra would be among the first to visit the bereaved family and hugs of sympathy were her norm. What a lady!! I also think that the portrayal of her by the actress Helen Ryan, both in the film 'The Elephant Man' and in the TV series 'Edward VII', could not have been bettered. Dame Maggie Smith also gave a warm performance in the 1999 'All The King's Men.'

    A most gracious and graceful Queen. The love between Alex and her sister Minnie (Empress Maria Feodorovna) lasted their whole life long. She was always a rock to her sister throughout Minnie’s tragedies in life. They were like twins separated by 3 years’ difference and reunited yearly back in Denmark with the rest of their family (George & Olga joined them from Greece), and their baby sister Thyla. They were born 3 years apart and died 3 years apart.

      @@bessturner1625 Not entirely. If you have a look, most of the Windsor line had tiny waists. Princess Margaret, for example (Think it was said that she had a 18 inch waist in her youth). The corset just outlined it/showed it off on Queen Alexandra, so to say, as tight-lacing probably wasn't much of a thing as of yet (that came late late 19th century I believe...?). This genetic trait probably came from Queen Alexandra. A lot of royalty around Europe had this trait as well though. Queen Mary of Teck also had a similar waist.
