This guy is pure gold. Like many here I "follow" some others-specifically: Mark Wildman, Bioneer (Adam Sinicki), Aleks Salkin (Hebrew Hammer) and K Boges. Each bring a unique and valuable perspective to the overall subject. Only recently discovered this channel and frankly I'm a little blown away by 1) what he presents and 2) how on Earth does he not have 5 Million subscribers? Matt is presenting a view of training that is elegantly wrapped in an evolving philosophy that makes nothing more than pure sense to me. I''ve started using some aspects of Matts approach in the last three weeks and have noticeably put on some muscle. And I'm 65 years old....😀
Your such an influencer and great communicator.. I was doing KETO again, been at a month and had low energy and depressed. I kept on thinking what you said about sandwhiches. Sure enough I added sandwhiches, just whole wheat, a tbsp of lolive oil mayo, sometimes a slice of american cheese, some spring mic, and eigher some chicken breast or even a 85/15 burger. So great, it gives me lots of energy and makes my muscles pop. What an influencer hahahaha
I was told by a trainer at a fitness club that I wasn’t getting g enough protein. Supposedly need around 160g a day which is kind of hard to do. He also said I eat too much fat. I thought clean fat was good, like Kerigold butter and cheese, good eggs and cottage cheese, etc. isn’t there a diet like carnivore or keto that focuses on fats ?!?
There are essential fats, protein is essential but there are no essential carbs. Eating good fats from animal sources gives you energy and keeps you satiated longer than carbs. If your body doesn't have an abundance of sugars (carbs) for energy the liver will produce ketones from dietary fats for fuel or tap into stored body fat when dietary fats are low or energy demands are high. Fats from plant sources, in particular seed oils, are problematic as is combining carbs and fats (look up the Randle Cycle if you need more info). I've been carnivore for just over a year and never felt better but I get that it might not be for everyone. There is no counting of calories or anything. I eat twice a day as much much meat, fish, eggs etc. as it takes to make me feel full and I don't even think about food in between those 2 meals. 👍
@chrismason4224 I wouldn't take dietary advice from a dietitian either. They've all been schooled from the same bullshit text books that state that red meat is somehow a problem. The food that our species has been eating since day one is problematic but some man made shit that that's been around for a couple of hundred years (minutes in evolutionary terms) is healthy.
@@DJmicaiah the easiest way to get the protein is egg whites. 6 servings which isnt even that much on a plate scrambled, is 30 grams of protein. Then 2 Greek yogurts is the equivalent to a scoop of protein with even less calories if you get the right yogurt. And if you have the money just getting protein powder makes it even easier. You could obviously do chicken but it gets so sickening. Scrambles egg whites with hot sauce on it never gets old

Definitely needed to hear this. Been in a cut for about a month and since then my sleep has tanked and workouts feel like they stagnated.
You should put together a video talking about simple gear that you use for exercises and what you recommend.
Yeah thanks Matt. I'm at 20% bodyfat and not willing to put on more fat for just a small amount of muscle gain. I'm also not overweight (6' 180lbs)
How many calories a day do you need to maintain that weight ? I'm also 6' but im stuck at 200lbs.
@fallguy6196 depends on your step count. My maintenance seems to be about 1900 calories with my activity and movement level
@fallguy6196 try 200g carbs, 150g protein and 50g fat daily. See where that gets you.
@@K4R3N yea I'm around 1850cal I lost allot of weight with this but been stuck at 200lbs for 2 weeks
@@K4R3N I lift weights 5 times a week. I step less then 10k a day though

Don't take diet advice from a trainer. That's like asking a biologist a chemistry question.
