I once told a fellow farmer that that, ideally manure trenches shouldn't be deeper than 25cm as the roots that absorb nutrients sit at that depth, roots that go past that point are just pulling up moisture for the plant.
Hello to my mostly manual labor land loving REAL farming friends from sunny Florida!! Awesome channel man glad we found you on the tube great info you share thank you! Question... I've watched several of your trench videos now was curious how you guys water and I'm a but confused where exactly your manure compost goes is it all in the hill all in the trench or both and when you rotate you said every few years ya'll re-dig so doe you just move the old hill to the old trench and dig the new trench where the old hill was? Thank you again for the info and in advance for the answer!! Be well my friends God bless and thank you again for the inspiration to try a new method half a world away!!🙏🇺🇸🤙
Hi. Welcome on board, we are glad to host you here. 1. Manure Compost : It goes in the trench. We previously used to put it too deep (30cm), now we put the manure atleast within 20cm from the apex of the mound/Hill so that it is within root reach. 2. Rotation: We are yet to rotate, but we envisage that it will be within the same trench for ateast 10 years, then we can shift to the hard pan. But given that we constantly replenish the trenches with manure (tiny amounts) almost every time we have a new crop, we may keep these same trenches for a long time 3. Watering: We use drip irrigation, same with fertigation
