On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Minneapolis MN on 6-1-22.
We're looking at a 1960 Chrysler 300F Convertible in Toreador Red Paint. The car comes with the factory 413 CI “Cross Ram” V8 engine, and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Randy Guyer. Randy’s had this car since 2017. Randy shares this car was a Friend of his car, and he wanted to honor him by buying the car and restoring it. After the restoration, this car looks showroom new.
ENJOY!

This is great !
Some might say the 300's were the the beginning of the muscle car.
This is a great example.
Hi Glen, Happy to read "This is great !" :-) Lou

concerning cars and lifestyle, of the ‘60s and on....👍👍👍

@@loucostabile 😀
Dad had a 300F coupe. Black with tan interior. I was 18 and loved the ram induction. Dad shut down a couple of Chevrolets on the street, with the angast of my mother. Brother and I loved it!
Hi 2098elk, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Now there is a dream garage. Thanks for sharing this beautiful beast. I loved the multiple tire chirps when the go pedal was used.

What attention to detail that restorer accomplished _ An American auto pinnacle representation _ Got to love the owners boldness to select a non factory color on the convertible top, as it goes so well with the body color, thnx for this fine treat Lou. . . :>/
Hi Dr. Candor, Happy to read you enjoy the details of this car :-) My pleasure sharing this "fine treat" with you. You're welcome, Lou
Randy's my favorite car collector. Not only does he restore finned Chryslers but he drives them too.
Randy's FUN for sure! I like he drives them too.
Really great feature guys, thank you. Randy's collection is nothing short of amazing. They're all super highly desirable models, with great color schemes and always brand new condition. This 300F - the F word being fabulous (!) is as beautiful as the others. Thanks again Lou, this was great 👍
Hi Bruce H., Happy to read you enjoy the cars from Randy's collection. My pleasure sharing them with you. You're welcome, Lou

Beautiful Virgil Exner masterpiece! The car looks factory fresh! Randy Guyer spares no expense in restorations of these wonderful MOPAR's. Thanks for posting Lou. Be blessed as always!
Hi Gerry, Happy to read you enjoy this "masterpiece!" :-) Blessings received. God bless you too. You're welcome, Lou
This car is just fabulous! ❤️ 1960 might just be the year that represents the peak for innovation, beauty and quality parts. It just went smoothly downhill from then on and that for understandable reasons. Great job Lou! 👌
Hi Jean-Pierre, High praise :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
I always liked the 61-64 Lincoln but once their tops went down you'd lose 90% of the trunk. Love these sporty big convertibles.
It's always great to see Randy Guyer and his Mopar collection! He has some of the most obscure cars that one doesn't see everyday. This Chrysler 300 F convertible has a beautiful interior, and that Toreador Red paint job really sets it off. The cross fire 413 engine sounds smooth, and sounds awesome during acceleration. This car is a cool addition to Randy's collection! I love seeing his unique Mopars!
Hi Michael, Happy to read you enjoy Randy's collection :-) My pleasure sharing with you, Lou
Another gorgeous Chrysler and I'm not even a Chrysler guy! Randy has a fantastic collection! Thanks for sharing with us!
Hi Steve, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car even though you're not a Chrysler Guy :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
Дуже чудове авто! І " конячок" в ньому висточає! Дякую!
Hi Сергій Шамін, Happy to read you enjoy this wonderful car :-) Lou
Yeah Lou, I heard 2 beautiful tire chirps when he kicked 'er down in the beginning of the video! The engineers were very serious about their jobs back then with the style AND performance! Thanks and keep 'em comin'!!
Yeah lonnyjaw, Glad you heard this big car chirp x 2 :-) You're welcome, Lou
Spectacular example of this Marque! The big “fish mouth” grill and futuristic styling is so expressive of the era! I’m sure glad folks put the money and effort into making these fresh and new again. I’m always flabbergasted at how the little details get restored…the parts in the interior subject to easy damage by key fobs, fingers, and malt shakes. You must have long blonde hair to drive this, scarf optional. I would drive this, top down, very slowly in a big city street while skyscrapers tower above….with a “Look at me” expression on my face. As always, thanks Lou!
Hi M A, High praise for the styling and details of this car :-) My pleasure sharing with you. You're welcome, Lou
Lou, all of the Chrysler letter cars are just so beautiful, great video

Chrysler always setting the standard in ultra modern interiors.
Back then, those interiors belonged to a spaceship!

Cars since 1990 have no soul when compared to cars like this.
Proof that you don't need a computer laden car
Hi Chris, Happy to read you enjoy this car with soul :-) Lou
I hope you fans can appreciate how difficult it is to find those boomerang lights in the back of the car.So many restorers are loooking for them that you can really just name your price if you have a pair. I absolutely love these old Chryslers; a beautiful luxury car that could haul ass!, and that 413 engine was one of the best Chrysler made….eventhough they eat the starters for lunch! Thx again Lou, you made my day!
Hi David, Thank you for viewing, sharing, and glad to read this video "made my day!" :-) You're welcome, Lou
To my eye only seldom is a custom touch a tasteful improvement. The tan top color in contrast to the body color and matching the interior absolutely works! Why didn't Chrysler think of it? Great episode Lou!
Hi JackF, Happy to read the details you enjoy. Glad to read you enjoy this episode, Lou
Yes! Most convertibles are BORING that way! Only 2 choices, black or white for the roofs.
Wow! Love this!! Great car, great color and interior! Keep cranking it Lou!
Hi Bob, High praise :-) Lou
That ride is sleeeeekk.
:-)
The 1960 and 1961 Chrysler 300 models remind me that I have a pretty bad case of car adoration. I see a good example of one of those and I get butterflies. I like a number of other cars, but this one is on another level. Thanks for bringing this one to us, Lou!
Hi Stewart, "The 1960 and 1961 Chrysler 300 models remind me that I have a pretty bad case of car adoration. I see a good example of one of those and I get butterflies." I'd say you have perfect eye site and go with the feeling. You're welcome, Lou
Ford guy here, had all the brouchurs and Ford models in the 60's as a kid.
I love the F model, but the front end of the E, can't be beat., they should have left it alone, or only fine tuned it ever so slightly.
That brown top, tops it off, wicked car it is, I love it.
Happy to read you "love it" :-)
Is work of art.
High praise :-)
That just looks like an attention-grabbing fun car. I would love to go cruising in it.
You're right...attention grabbing. Hope you're for a ride in one like this soon.
¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!
Hi Jaime, Happy to read you enjoy this "extraordinary" work done to get this "extraordinary" vehicle to this condition :-) My pleasure sharing this "jewel" with you, Lou
C'est cette Amérique des années 50 à 75 que j'adore c'est qu'on appelle le rêve américain où les américains il fabriquer les plus belles voitures du monde
Hi Abas Abas, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Bourbon vanilla and cherry isn't only a fantastic ice cream combination.
Putting the transmission's pushbuttons onto the console instead would have been even cooler. The way the console's ashtray was put in there looks like the designers weren't sure as to if a floor shifter may one day get accomodated by that cut-out.
Those are even the full cross-rams. They also made half ones. The difference is to be seen by the ribbing of those manifold's runners
Hi Al_Dente, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Chrysler design at its zenith - a Virgil Exner masterpiece. And, as stunning as this F looks, it’s a magnificent driving road car - with its front torsion bar and rear 7-leaf spring suspension
40% stiffer than the other Chryslers. Tracks wonderfully flat pushing it into curvy mountain roads.
Hi Noel, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
I love the Chrysler products of the late 1950s and early 1960s. They looked so different and better, IMHO, than other cars. This one is no exception! BTW, my mom had a 1964 Dodge Custom 880 with the pushbutton automatic. By then there was a Park position with a sliding lever under the buttons. Slide to the right and Park was engaged and neutral button depressed and locked out the others. Slide to the left and Park was disengaged and all the buttons worked.
Hi Scott, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, Lou
1960 The peak of Chrysler high style and power.
:-)
Even as a restoration, changing the colour of the top is for me no issue, as tops on convertibles never last the life of the car and someone when replacing a top might have changed the colour when the time came. Love a big old mopar. And that is awesome.
HI Keptin Kaos, Happy to read "that is awesome" :-) Lou
Wowie wow wow wow! Way to go Randy Watching you and Lou show off these great Chrysler and Mopar rigs has completely opened my eyes. I want one
High praise rayhapes :-)
I am not a Chrysler fin car enthusiast but I really like this car. The owner spares no expense getting his cars to perfection. Also this year has the most beautiful taillight incorporation into the fin. I think this was the only year and subsequent years had a really ugly design.
The interiors on these cars were so luxurious and cool . i especially like the full length console and front and rear bucket seats.
Hi Bill, Happy to read you "really like this car" :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
You are correct, although the '61 Chrysler station wagons used the same boomerang taillights as did the '60 Chryslers.
Sounds like Randy's 413's really diggin' in, tack it up, tack it up, buddy's gonna shut you down! Nice car! Thank you, Lou!
Hi Gary, Just the way we like it :-) You're welcome, Lou
Another killer video, Lou! Love the old Chrysler cars. 👍

Hi Randy, That "300" in 1955 seems to be a pretty good candidate :-) Lou
Very, very.......Nice...!
Happy to read you enjoy this car :-)
holy hell these are nice, sure dig the interior too
You're right, there are nice :-)
Great car video. My 64 cuda has pushbutton and a park setting with a chrome lever next to the buttons. Must have been an early solution.
Yep … The 904 was introduced in 1960, and had the lever-actuated parking pawl, but the 727 didn’t get the parking pawl until 1962.
Hi Mark, Happy to read you enjoy this "Great car" :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
@@sking2173 Correct for the 727 in Plymouths and Dodges. Chrysler continued its Astradome dash for '62, with the 727 TorqueFlite trans - special 1-year setup, but no parking pawl on Chryslers until the '63 models with their redesigned dash.
Thanks for posting, Lou. It's always a treat to see a banker's hot rod🙂. Too many great features to mention, but the gold lettering on the dash and the hood is a nice touch. Hard to believe that Chrysler made so few of the 1960 model, although I understand that they were very expensive.
Hi Ray, My pleasure sharing this "Bankers Hot Rod" with you :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
Nice..very nice. Thanks Lou
Happy to see you enjoy this one Jimmy :-)
Que Auto!

The 1960 Chrysler and near relative, 1960 De Soto's were probable Extner's last real styling triumph. These cars were stunning when new and remain so today. The Ram Induction of course is the thing dreams are made of. Very nice presentation of an accurately restored gem.
Happy to share this gem with you :-)
Thanks for uploading!
You're welcome Journeyman.
BEAUTIFUL CAR LOU I JUST BOUGHT A SCALE CAR OF ONE
NICE Hans! Congratulations!
Very nice 🥰
Hi Michael, Happy to read you think this car is "Very nice" :-) Lou
Around 1962 Mopar added a park lever to it's pushbutton automatics. In 1965-on, all Mopars had column shifted automatics.
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
Park on '62 Plymouths and Dodges; not until '63 on Chryslers with the redesigned dash.
Wery wery nice car Lou. Love it a MOPAR fan.

MEL 383 was the hard core high RPM race motor in 1960.
In 1960 the only Ford you get with a MEL was a Thunderbird.
Early drift cars by accident, they ran on tar, very very nicely.
Thank you for viewing and sharing.
if only there were a hardtop wagon version of this beauty.....
Kinda like this one. ua-cam.com/video/WFg21O5CG_Q/v-deo.html
So do I. Got my preferences though.
Beautiful car but this makes me depressed. I am ready for Summer. I can’t wait to have my 70 Torino convertible out of the garage again.
Hi Rusty Dreams Garage, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Hoping your car some out soon, Lou
4 buckets seats & that console all the way back. Totally a custom look. I don't understand why the power seat operates both passenger & driver, that's quirky!

He must have a couple million in inventory!
Maybe, I'm just focused on the FUN...and the FINS too :-)

Correction- I should have waited until later in the video before I commented. Apparently some Chryslers DID NOT have a park position with the pushbutton tranny ! Live and learn!
Hi James, I'm learning all the time :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Apparently only 248 Chrysler 300F convertibles were made in 1960. A white one sold for $400k in 2010.

If you live in the Midwest, you can see one of the only 3 operating versions of this car at the National Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. (Although it will usually not be running when you visit).
That one at NMoT, this one in the video, and the one owned by Jay Leno are the only 3 running examples. The other 6 in museums have had their compressor fans removed to render them inoperable.
BTW, the National Museum of Transportation also has one of the world’s largest collection of trains and sprawls over 42 acres of land. It’s worth a visit !
Thanks for sharing a tip about the National Museum of Transportation. I believe you're referring to the 1963 Chrysler Turbine. Good news! Here is a video I took, and it's running too. ua-cam.com/video/uh1Kt14Bido/v-deo.html
@@loucostabile Hmmm…🤔 I wonder how my comment got onto this thread? I was watching your Turbine Car video at Monterrey!

I need to correct something I said, my friend bought the car in 1979 not 1988.
Thank you for clarifying.
Also, the convertible top was offered in black, white,as stated but also in Terra Cotta. Sorry about the mistakes but we did 10 videos in one day and a persons' brain kindda turns to jelly trying to recite facts and figures.
Drop dead gorgeous car. Looking for a restored 1960 or 1961 300 hardtop. Anyone interested in selling please hit me up.
Hi Mark M, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
I disagree about what he said about the late 50s early 60s pushbutton gear selectors not having a “ park” position. NOT true. As a teenager in the mid 70s I had a 1964 Fury convertible. 318 Poly engine, pushbutton transmission. It certainly DID have a “park” position. I dont know what this guy is talking about. Nice car though!

Chryslers first had a Park pawl on its 1963 models - after the Astradome dash was replaced by a new design. Plymouths and Dodges first had Park pawl on their 1962 dashboards. So Randy’s.comment is accurate for Chryslers up into the 1960s - thru 1962. You are correct in saying the ‘64 Plymouth - actually ‘62 forward - had a sliding Park pawl.
Mmm Mopar
:-)
👍👍👍👍👍❤😂😅.
:-)
The owner has great skills. Why he works on POS Cry Slurs like this is beyond me. Lou, how are you going to be happy in life when wasting your skills on these junk domestics?
I'll do my best to get by I guess. Stay well Jerry, Lou
What is your problem? If you don't like American cars, then don't watch the videos! As Grandma used to say: if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all.
@@danielulz1640 True, but I want Lou to use his massive skills on great cars. I like my American made Lucid. My dad had nothing but miserable Mopar. One day when getting his Polara worked on he introduced me to the owner of the local dealership in Hingham , MA, Mr. Whipple. He was a nice guy and rand a good operation. He asked me why I didn't like domestics (maybe this was 1971) and a Citroen SM goes by and I said, look at that, some people care about design. His reply was wouldn't it bother you to have to replace the electric window switch? I replied back, no it was worth it to drive something cool. He sank bank in his chair knowing the truth. His cars were crap and the next generation would shun them.
@@jerrywarren2007 that story is remarkable, almost unbelievable. I am glad that you like your Lucid, but many of us still like cars that don't plug in like a toaster.
@@danielulz1640 I have a Lexus LC 500 for the V8 experience and a second generation NSX so I am not always focused on toast. I pointed to the Lucid as it looked like you felt I had no love for US made vehicle. For 22 the Lucid was the fastest ride Motor Trend tested, so a toaster can be really fun and comfy for the family.
Absolutely beautiful 300F that 413 with those long intake manifolds looks so cool and as much as I like 4 speeds and automatic is the way to go in this cruiser .Thanks Lou you got my Friday off to a great start 👍 😀!!!
