I dont consider $60,000 too much. It is a wonderful van. I am a van fan having driven thousands of kilometres all over west australian farm roads and country highways. I look forward to them coming to Aust!!
Watching it now in 2024 and I’m weeping for the 2020 Brian that mentions how a lot of us were holding out on the “T7” to see what would come… Oh if only we knew 🤦♀️ This is the best iteration of the best bus on the road. Great review. 👌🏽
Comprehensive review. Really well done. Regarding vans, it is said you buy one because you need one, not you like one. But once you try, you will never came back to regular cars. I own 7 seater MVP and after a few years of ownership i cannot imagine different car. Is comfy, in/out access is really easy, big boot (to be clear you just throw things inside, no need play tetris), nice command position.
Why do you all avoid bringing criticism, where they are? Și you make yourself not see or not really see? Ex: 1. In the space for documents they removed the lid, which looked so good at T6! 2. The enclosed space with lid above the dashboard has been replaced with slots, as in trucks! 3. The enclosed space with a lid, to the right of the gearbox, has been replased with an open space used for charging the mobile phone. And the space before could have been used for the same purpose. 4. Some holes for glasses appeared on the left and right of the board. All these open spaces are on commercial vehicles, not on a MULTIVAN HIGHLINE! Um...I forgot something, the closed space, for the glass, from below, he disappeared! All these many enclosed spaces, unique to Multivan, have delighted the owners. Now they're gone. You don't see, you don't mind, why don't you say anything?
Yes, I like a Bulli! That one's nice - but I actually liked the original T5 LWB Hi-Top with the old gruff 5-clyinder, and the 6-speed torque converter auto. So I'm biased! Many thanks Team.
I bought a black one from the factory in 2006. Had it for ten years, covered 230 thousand miles. Loved it. Only problem we had was exhaust fumes coming into the cab.
I don’t understand complaining about the lack of practicality of not having a volume knob, I can’t remember when I last used the one on my cars entertainment system - the buttons on the steering wheel are much more practical!
Great review guys. Thank you. Everything seems perfect with this van, accept the placement of the aircond knobs. Its a hassle to reach for my likey. But that is just a very small downside of this great vehicle. Love this channel. Keep up the great work guys.
Hi, the price i see is more like 70k€ than 60k€ and the problem is for that price you get a whole motorhome/campingcar. My use would be different, it would be to host toyas like a motorbike for example. What price can we get for that use ?
Thanks for showing the new T6.1 and thanks for the review. I'm just interested in the panel version really but it was quite interesting. Multivan of € 38,000 is a very reasonable price. In Ireland the previous model (T6) Shuttle starts at € 51,900. It looked from the photos & previous videos i had seen that the dashboard layout had the radio & heater controls section angled towards the driver, Is that true or not? Is the DSG gearbox still a 7speed? I do not see a Headlight Washer System on those LED Headlights as is on the T6, has that changed?
My old T25 is much bigger in the luggage in a seven seat configuration. MUCH bigger. Granted it needs someone to go under the car with a spanner to take the seats out but still, how did cars get so much bigger outside and smaller inside after 35 years?
I subscribe to this channel in part to feel envious of vehicles available in Europe and denied to us in the US. Never more so than this review of the Multivan T6.1. What we refer to as "minivans" are a drag on the market in the US, having been supplanted almost completely by a raft of crossovers of every size and shape, many so large that what we call "midsize" would be considered "gargantuan" in Europe. Add to that the fact that VW has traditionally faced major challenges in selling Euro spec versions of their vehicles in the US where we like our vehicles larger and cheaper. And even at currently favorable exchange rates with the euro, a $66,000 minivan would be an especially tough sell here. And then, of course, there's the elephant in the room, the residual effects of "diesel-gate" in the US. Never a highly popular alternative among American consumers where fuel is cheap, diesels from almost every brand, and especially from VW are simply dead in the US. Whether that's a permanent condition is unclear but it may not matter with the increasing popularity of hybrids and pure EV's. So sadly, there will be no Multivan in the US. Considering its innovative design perhaps we can hope the other manufacturers still committed to a shrinking marketplace for minivans may copy some of its features.
Great review but please stop calling it a van. Vans usually don't have windows to the rear of the driver as in a commercial vehicle. Yes ,the base vehicle is commercial but it has windows to the rear so it is more a people carrier as it is very well appointed. MPV as in the V5C in UK.
The incentive to get an electric is a lot bigger for us living in countries where EV's are registration tax exempt. An EV Bulli would be 1/2 the price or less of a diesel here, as all ICE cars are severely taxed.
I've got a T6 multivan and the T6.1 seems exactly the same but with an update dashboard and front end, did any of the mechanicals get updated? Its a great vehicle but for the 6.1 that are for passenger use I would have hoped for better dampners, anti roll bars and maybe a drop in ride height. All pretty easy stuff to do and makes a world of difference to the ride
I hoped VW T6.1 have panoramic roof option ! Is very claustrophobic when long haul drive for the children at the 3rd row . I think Mercedes Benz V-Class is better options for family convenience for long haul drive
Great review as always! What is optional in this comfort trim? Are Parking sensors, wheels, digi cockpit obviously, electronic steering, optional? And most of important :does it have full LED lights front and rear including indicators?
I get that family comes first, but getting a car like the Sharan or this T6 as your only car, doesn't it feel like your giving up too much from an enthusiast point of view?
Hope we had Sharan in our country. But Vw Turkey not importing some good cars like Sharan. So Multivan is the best choice for big families in my country.
So, what is your point? He is a Bulli fan who also declared it, while you are a Merc fan (undeclared, of course) and all you want to do is trash the image of the Bulli. No matter what people say, a VW Transporter fan will always appreciate it no matter how many other options other brands offer and even if those are offered earlier.
Actually (as it happens I think the VW is a nicer camper than the Merc) I was merely pointing out that the reviewer was waxing lyrical about stuff that’s been around for years.
@@autogefuehl just watched it, it was the T6 also with the larger engine ~200 HP. I would be interested in the difference. The layout of that shift lever and the ventilation controls is absolute bullocks. VW should have stayed with a center stack design with "hands reach" transmission shift (which was functional in manual mode for upshifts and downshifts) like they had in the Routan.

Autogefühl is my favourite UA-cam channel for car reviews. This is another great review. I have a general question. It's something that I cannot understand the reason for, and it could also determine my choice of car when buying one. Why do so many cars have the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. And why do they make it so that you have to look at it to control it? The only car I have had (or driven) with the controls on the steering wheel which I could control without looking at it was my 2012 Ford Focus. But I think the best way to make the control is to have a separate lever, like it is in my current car, 2017 Skoda Octavia. I don't have to look at it to control it. I just know which way to push the lever to operate it.
@@DaFrenkNL Yes, but sometimes there are so many small buttons. Also, when the buttons are on the front of the steering wheel you have to release the grip on the steering wheel to reach them. As I mentioned, my Ford had a quite good solution, but I still feel the best way is to have a separate lever, like for the turn signal and wind screen washers. Much easier :)
Well, Its still a nice car but really it doesnt take as much load as Sharan. If you have three kids and traveling there is really no room at all back in the boot. If you move the giant sofa forward you will never sit comfortable in the third row. This is not a family car at all. It moves people without any luggage whatsoevber

But I think the best way to make the control is to have a separate lever, like it is in my current car, 2017 Skoda Octavia. I don't have to look at it to control it. I just know which way to push the lever to operate it.
My Corolla also has them on the steering wheel and after driving a few days with it I could operate them blindly. Easy to get used to it.
Cheers! Hm i guess its easier to see than a hidden stalk column
@@autogefuehl Maybe, but my point is that I think you should be able to do it without seeing it. :)
Good review. But you haven't talked about car lighting. This is important for a car that will travel on mountain roads at night.
€100.000+ in Norway :(
Sean Smith 😂😂😂😂
Unbelievable!!!!!
5 cylinder better
Well, Its still a nice car but really it doesnt take as much load as Sharan. If you have three kids and traveling there is really no room at all back in the boot. If you move the giant sofa forward you will never sit comfortable in the third row. This is not a family car at all. It moves people without any luggage whatsoevber
ALPHARD .. IS NICE DESIGN
ALPHARD .. IS MORE GOOD LOOKING
Ill buy Bentley for that price.
I'd unfacelift the 6.1 just to have that interior, also torque is 330 lbft or around 400nm with this particular engine
