I will clean up all the metal first from the rust then coat in Ross proof paint and put a good quality black paint on top so make the metal last longer. It’s just worth the time.
I bet that Lowe's loves to see you coming. 😁😁👍👍
Fabricator Extraordinaire! Al, you are a Master of Puzzles! 💜💙💚💫 It's a Joy to see your processes here. She'll be a Battleship.. haha 💫🤣
I was just thinking about this project of yours! I am excited for you guys, as this walk in cooler is a necessity! Please look around for used butcher rails and their components. I found a whole complete rail system with trolly hanging hooks for 200.00 on market place! We drove 130 miles to purchase and worth every penny! I am anxious to see how this goes for the Homestead and confident that your end result will be an excellent necessary addition to the farm. I am really impressed with your thought process and logic in all of your projects and building skills. Thanks for sharing this with me!
Very smart yall!!
Al and Gina,as usual I know that the freezer project will be a lot better than it was before because Al will make sure that it is strong and stable 😮😊❤
You can make it work. It will be fine.
❤ thank you!

Good morning from Fishers, Indiana! I have enjoyed watching you kids grow your homestead, .You are not afraid to tackle anything. I even cried with you when you lost George. God bless you in all of your endeavors. ❤
I would definitely do a rust treatment on that metal frame before working on it. And clean it up first as well.
Yes, that bass needs it bad !
Yes an application of phosphoric acid (etch and prep at Home depot or Lowe's) or "Evaporust" would convert the rust and clean it up nicely. I would probably patch that one corner too.
I don't see the need or value of saving that metal frame
POR paint. Perfect for this job.
Eastwood Black Rust Encapsulator - Paint Over Rust works great!
Goooooooooooood morning, Lumnahs!
What an interesting project!!
Good to see that this project finally got started. Not sure yet why it was necessary to reuse the old floor of the cooler. We will see.
Looks good and should be good and solid.. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
Ideal just popped in my head 2 pieces of 6 inch wide 2 inch deep quarter inch thick metal c channel weld in place to make fork holes to move with front end loader.

Good morning, and have a wonderful day
Good Morning~!
Vary smart idea. I like to see the rest of the project. Keep up the great work.
This is an Refrigeration Unit, it must be level at all times to operate. You can not move this around, as refrigerant will migrate, causing premature compressor failure. This will seldom be on completely level ground causing racking of structure , especially if you utilize an hanging trolley for a half of beef. Better to pour a slab of concrete for cooler to rest & secure to same. Finally better to have 6" of foam insulation on floor, as cold always seeks downward direction. Most temp. will be lost on floor. I concur 100 % with Andrew Windsor's comment. I was involved in exterior cooler operations/maintenance for nearly 30 years with Restaurants/ Pizza/ grocery chains, etc. so i am not guessing. Have fun & enjoy this laborious task.
Agree. Not sure why it would need to be moved at all once it is placed outside.
Here in Texas we have one that just barely fits inside wheel wells of a 16’ trailer.Used primarily on the deer lease in conjunction with a generator. We bring it home when hunting season’s over. Absolutely fantastic to have with you when hunting!!!!

Good morning to you Elizabeth! Hoping the same for you!
Love building projects!
How exciting to get a functioning, walk-in cooler going! As you move towards self-sufficiency with all the types of animals you will need this; let alone if you want to move on into the world of meat sales at all. Moving into some meat sales could even be a path you want to at least think about.
Good morning all from a sunny France .
Bonjour Stephen!
Gooooooooood Morning France
Good morning 🥰
I hope your knee is doing much better! Happy February! Have a great weekend!
@ Hi Sam have a great weekend.
Al - great project you are starting - clean that metal frame up first and rust proof it. Don’t forget to have you under runners positioned to lift with the forks. Sorry to interfere
That's going to be very useful. Why not wire brush the steel and paint with red oxide paint or rust inhibitor? It would be time well spent. Gina could do it😊. Regards, Stephen.
Good morning Lumnah family from sunny Florida keys

Good day and it’s looking good too!
Congratulations on your walk-in Cooler.
Hello from 1904 Electric Company House, rocky mid-coast of Maine, US.
I’ve been waiting to watch this build ..so excited..I know it’s going to be so neat
It’s definitely worth it. My brother and I did the same thing up at our hunting property it works great holds four deer hanging.
Good Morning y'all, Al This definitely will be an interesting "mobile" freezer build. When I first seen it....I was thinking, you was going to put it next to where your cellar build is going to be.
cool
Morning Lumnah Acres and everyone. Al just a thought. Every consider a couple large ceiling fans for the shop? Reversable, can pull the warm air down for the Winter and Hot air up in the Summer. Love the videos.
I have been patiently waiting for this build! Looking forward to your creative process 🙂
Morning!!! Loving this project. My one though is to maybe sandblast the metal frame and paint it if it’s integral to the frame so it lasts longer! It’s a neat idea as a big fridge is useful. We have two fridges and it’s never quite enough. Bigger is better!!
This is a cool project 😊
Good morning, everyone!!
Good morning, Chris!
Gooooooooood Morning Chris
Good morning Chris🥰
Good morning Chris, have a great weekend!
This is gonna be interesting
Good morning Lumnah family from a still dark Minnesota. Good morning viewers. Wow, so you want it to be mobile? I remember your nice cooler room in the original homestead in the basement corner. You had plenty of room to hang meats. Ratchet straps to the rescue! You're re-purposing this building to fit your needs. Too bad the floor isn't so good but I'm sure you'll get it figured out. Another trip to Lowe's! The workshop looks so clean! Look at that floor shine! I've seen food that's more expensive per unit in a big container than a smaller container. Container costs? I like that rolling seat! That one corner on the other side of the metal frame is pretty far gone. I'm glad you're framing in wood. I like the beefy skids! Looking good! I'm excited to see how you finish this project. Thanks for this video Lumnah family!
Al - I sure like the way you think. Hash and rehash before you build. That way you have no mistakes. Ive been doing this for years. It sure has paid off ! Greetings from Perth Ontario Canada!
