Considering so many airlines, some major ones at that really cut back on their service levels during the pandemic, Air Austral retained a quality service and I give them a big tick for this. The dinner menu was quite impressive, plus other refinements such as the spacious seating, amenity kit and so on. Their standard economy was better than what some major carriers provide in their premium economy. The breakfast could have been a little more substantial, but considering how everything else was, and all this in the middle of a pandemic, I give them a very high score. If the routing allowed me, I would fly this airline before Singapore, Emirates or Qatar. Well done Air Austral.
You should make a video about the hidden gems of airlines like Air Austral! We all know Qatar, Emirates, SQ, etc are good, but Air Austral? I have never even heard of this airline before!

French People who live mostly in Paris area don't talk about CHARLES DE GAULLE AIRPORT but simply of Roissy. This is the name of the French village where the airport was built around 50 years ago. Before the airport it was really a rural area.
I remember many airlines back in the days used to provide real glass for Economy Class. Thai, EVA, Qantas, Sri Lankan, Singapore, Malaysia, China Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, LAN (now LATAM). May be there were more but these are what I can think of.
I've taken a bit of a break watching your videos as it was a bit sad that I couldn't really make any travel plans but now I'm excited that my almost two year no-fly hiatus is coming to an end in February. It's still some time but watching your videos again gets me in the right mood

I used to fly on Air Austral more than 6 times on the RUN - MAA route with their 737. 6 hours flight on a 737 was quite long and service was not that good (no personnal IFE) but I guess it will improve when they will start this route again using their new A220
It appears that they met or exceeded expectations for an Economy flight. The seating was quite good, the IFE was adequate, and the dinner service was above average. Of course you had to christen your real glass with real wine! Although the breakfast was disappointing, I note that there is food available for purchase. If you took this trip often you could order something better.

Hi! The name of the airline "Austral" comes from the same word which refers to the south or southern hemisphere, for exemple we call summer in Reunion "austral summer". Roland Garros was actually a french aviation pioneer and was born in Reunion, you guess why the airport is named after him ;) About tennis, it was just named after him, in his honor, not sure he played tennis lol

There is one really big inconvenience with Air Austral as they are not in any big alliance. Thus if you are not travelling directly from CDG you have to split you tickets. That means, you have no connection flight. In the case of problems with your first flight and that can happen really easily in CDG (delays, wandering luggage, etc.), you are screwed and you can throw your expensive ticket to nearest waste bin. Thats why I prefer Air France, despite the fact they are more expensive and I have to change airports (shuttle is for free in connection flights).

Air austral in la reunion is NOT able to tell me if I need a special agreement to take a plane to Mauritius and after same day in transit to Dubai and Bangkok by Emirates. Its crazy this airline, price too high, employees impolite on phone.....

simply hate the cramped 3-4-3 (10-abreast) economy class seating layout in B777-300 ER & B777-200 LR . . . especially on long haul flights 8 hrs or more . . . a handful of B777-300 ER operators has retained the original 3-3-3 (9-abreast) economy class layout in their B777-300 ER & B777-200 LR fleet . . . such as Air India, British Airways Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines,Virgin Australia, Bangladesh Biman & Garuda Indonesia Airlines . . .
Just 2 weeks ago I was flying similar route but on A350 Air Mauritius from Port Louis to CDG. I can see Air Mauritius was just slighthly better from Air Austral, though still I didn't like it ;D
Instead of showing the leg room by moving your hand between your leg and the seat which means nothing as we don’t know how tall you are, just state how many inches the leg room is which would make much more sense

Of course! It’s still France and Europe, but far from mainland. There are casinos, nightclubs, kfc, burger king, mc donalds, shopping malls, and so on… But most of all, you got amazing landscapes and the beach!

Reunion island is safe to visit, but if your pleasures are around what you stated, you kinda miss the point comming here :) There are tons of places providing those services at a better rate, and closer to Europe.

Took a trip in one of their 737s way back in 2019 from REUNION to CHENNAI, everything was just perfect!
