  • Hi! First film with my comment, sorry for the camera microphone. Beginnings are hard, also the cat interrupts at some moment. This is the 1987 Casio approach to a home piano - similar to the digital pianos today, but the technology is not samples, but the synthesis similar to analog pianos like Roland EP-10 or Yamaha CP-10, but this one is analog-digital hybrid, so it's light and compact.

I can not believe in all these years of me collecting keyboards, mainly CASIOTONE, that I have never heard this keyboard play or knew about its specs! Well done on the video!

it looks like a cut down version of CPS 201 but, based on a videos on youtube, 201 have different sound engine in it. but the vids are low quality so im not sure

@@keyhoarder I own 3 CPS201s and they sound different from this model hence my reaction and comment. The sounds on the CPS101 sound like a very cut down version or mix, of the MT205 super drums keyboard sound engine and maybe the MT52 synth engine? The Harpsi and pipe organ and vibes sounds are the confusing ones for me but I reckon those could be the CPS201 sounds. I really need to have a CPS101 to really be able to tell lol! Here I go buying more Casios!

@@pianokeyjoe i think the different one. Its classic consonant vowel synthesis but programmed different way. It sounds much better than super drums series which (for me) is the weakest sounding series from the 80s

It uses the 935 sound chip as more commonly found the spectrum dynamic synthesis HT / HZ series. It sounds thinner than the cps-201/2000 because it is only using one chip, not the two 932 chips in the vowel consonant models and it Is only about 14 bit total not two 17bit chips

i had that thing aat the time. It really came to live when i used a adjustable power supply,...turned the voltage down and got really nice distortion 🙂

@@hernanr4006 was a decent keyboard for it’s time. Although limited. It’s more like a stage piano with a few presets. Nothing really fancy. But it has a good sound for what’s on it
