I have no idea why Sue’s goodbye came across my feed but I am sooo grateful for this introduction to mandala. I am simply mesmerized by its beauty and therapeutic nature. RIP angel Sue, your art will carry on forever.
Jayne, I gave myself a challenge on this LOL. It's funny how things planned take a turn and you make a new plan. But all in all I like the effect it gave so happy with it. :) Have fun!
Thanks Sandra! This is a bit challenging at least it was for me. I KNEW what I wanted it to look like but while painting it I was very frustrated with how it was looking. Its going to look messy until you get your outlining done. The edges of the painted in sections that is. I thought omg this is going to look awful but it didn't once outlined. So hopefully that will help you work through it. :) Don't give up, if I can do it I'm sure you can! Have fun, Sue.
Great job teaching. Loved the colors. VERY MUCH Appreciated you showing the number of dotter you were using, how you did the outline for the design. This ALL helps me immensely! Thanks. Look forward to more of your tutorials.
Hi Sue! I hope you are reading comments while you are taking your break from videos because I wanted to share this with you. I used this as inspiration for a design I did on a wooden lazy susan for my sister (I will post a pic on your FB page). I got the biggest giggle when you got to the part of the large swooshes in the blue parts, using the very large dotting tools. I never knew what those tools were used for until I saw you use them! I remember when I got them along with my other dotting tools and I thought they were a joke! What could anyone do with these big dotting balls!. Now I know… they make wonderful large swooshes! I had the best laugh Sue and, thanks to you, a new way of doing extra large swooshes! Miss you and hope you are taking care good care of you!
Hi Kathy, those big ones make nice swooshes but they are hard to use. Seeing where your pulling with them isn't so easy but they do a good job of it. Way quicker then dragging it out with another tool. I looked at those tools when I got them and thought the same thing lol.
Hi sue. I am new to you channel. This is the first of your tutorials that I have watch and I will say it won't be my last. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
I watched the entire tutorial. You make it look so easy. I want to try painting this but mine will never look as beautiful as yours. Im simple in awe of your work on this piece!
Aww that’s sweet of you to say. Just take your time I’m sure it will be just as good. I’m by no means an expert I just enjoy painting and sharing with others. 😀
I am new to your wonderful work. Thank you for sharing your talent. Please know that prayers are being sent for you as you go forward. God's blessings to you and your doctors.🤗
Another design I love! I am painting a tabletop turntable and this would have been a great design on that. I already started it but I have a large serving tray I will be doing soon so may try this design on it.
Hi Sue! I think about you often and wonder how you’re doing! This is a gorgeous piece! Love the color combination! ❤️ I have a question with a piece this large what are some ideas what you would do with it when it is completed? Wall hanging? Please take care! 🥰
Hi Carol, these usually are just wall hanging. When I give them away or sell them I include command strips they hang nicely with them with no extra work because the wood is so light weight. You could also place them on a easel to display them if you like. :) I'm doing great yet, still waiting on doctors to call and schedule. Well the plastic surgeon that is my oncologist was ready last week. I'll be posting when I know the actual date of my surgery as I will be out of commission not even answering comments for a bit. So want you guys to know why and for how long that's expected to be.
I'm still good, nothings been done yet waiting on plastic surgeon to call me. This is the nature of how this goes and with covid its no quicker. But posted its coming and lowered my schedule so I could use my wait time to make more content to last while down. I will post when I know when surgery is going to take place as I will most likely be gone for a good month before commenting even.
Another stunning piece...reminds me of a quilt block so pretty....where do you find these colours..."red violet"..never seen or heard of that one ..now l need to have it..lol😁...take care
I have the mm size of each tool listed on my website. You just need to make yourself a chart so you have easy reference. Most tool sets list out mm sizes. Here is the page. 😀 lovetocolor.com/pages/tools
How do you come up with an idea? Do you draw out a picture or pattern before or are you creating as you go? This is beautiful and takes a lot of time. I just watched the one you painted on a record. Very nice. Now I wish I had some of those records that I got rid of when we downsized and moved.
graygrand I paint as I go. I will base dots off of lines to keep symmetrical but never really know what it will look like when done. I will sometimes have an idea what I want to do such as leave some negative space so will draw lines before to base off of but that’s about it.
I use DIY Mandala Stones dotting tool set. Each tool is numbered, the numbers I display is the tool I'm going to use for the next dots. So you have the color and the tool you need if you want to recreate it. Here is a listing of the sizes of the tools in case you use another tool set. Size 1 - 0.5mm Size 2 - 1mm Size 3 - 1.5mm Size 4 - 2mm Size 5 - 2.5mm Size 6- 3mm Size 7 -3.5mm Size 8 - 4mm Size 9 - 4.5mm Size 10 - 5mm Size 11 - 5.5mm Size 12 - 6mm Size 13 - 6.5mm Size 14 - 7mm Size 15 - 7.5mm Size 16 - 8mm Size 17 - 8.5mm Size 18 - 9mm Size 19 - 9.5mm Size 20 - 10mm Size 21 - 10.5mm Size 22 - 11mm Size 23 - 11.5mm Size 24 - 12mm Size 25 - 12.5mm Size 26 - 13mm Size 27 - 14mm Size 28 - 15mm So if I hold up the number 4 it would mean I'm using a 2mm tool to dot next. Hope that makes sense to you.
Hi, I hope you get this since this video is already a year old. I have been looking for a white pencil that removes easily.. Can you tell me what kind of a pencil you are using and maybe where to purchase them?
I’m using a Generals chalk pencil. I bought that one from the happy dotting company on Etsy. But I’ve also bought them from Blick art supply. It doesn’t always come off super easy sometimes I need to paint over the lines. But has been best out of what I’ve tried. I had another lady suggest getting an derwent inkintense pencil I’ve not looked for it yet to try it. But she says it comes off very easily. Generals is easy to find probably could even get from Amazon.
Your videos are too fast for me. I like when people talk and tell what paints they are using, because I can't always see what color it is. You do beautiful work though.
Hi Christine, so sorry you find my videos to quick. Most folks will start and stop them. There is a way that you can slow any UA-cam down if you choose to. I made a video to show folks how to here: ua-cam.com/video/oC1GOYrkUbc/v-deo.html Also just so you know I do always post the colors I use in every design in the video description. I hope that helps you and I appreciate the fact that you like my work. Take care, Sue

Hi Sue! This is so beautiful and reminds me of a quilt. Can you tell me, did you use two coats for the base or just one?
I used several coats on the base and then on the blue areas. Think I had to use three on the blue areas.
Is there a way to follow your tutorial using a different tool set? It's hard to match sizes. Love your work! Thank you!
I have the mm size of each tool listed on my website. You just need to make yourself a chart so you have easy reference. Most tool sets list out mm sizes. Here is the page. 😀 lovetocolor.com/pages/tools
