I bet none of you people have ever seen a real Guilty Gear match before. Just this half assed joke that wasn't even remotely exciting. The first reason I got into Guilty Gear was cause I use to watch matches of Guilty Gear. If this was my first time getting into Guilty Gear or a fighting game, I would be completely unimpressed cause honestly? So many things have happened in previous games that exist in the world; yet this is probably the most mediocre a fighting game has become in a long time. Street Fighter 2 has more freedom than this shit show.
@@Siberianhusky89 this is my first Guilty Gear, and I agree with you concerning overall how Strive feels compared to other fighters. However, knowing how Goldlewis fairs against the majority of the cast in this version of the game, and knowing how skilled both players are in this game, this match was far from mediocre and personally, my eyes were glued on the screen watching it unfold.
@@oOYourdadOo Eh. I don't know man. I've seen so many ridiculous things happen in Guilty Gear XXAC from pro level players, that I think this just looks stale to me. I don't even hate Gold Lewis, but he's not that interesting of a character imo. I mean, the guy would use a single move at times over and over again and it made the difference. I'm not a big fan of that. I can't watch this match and take the game that seriously. And it's not cause of the character, but because of the game it's self.

He can be a monster in the rigjt hands but I wouldn't say he is broken.

This is why matchup knowledge is so important. Gobou had most likely studied I-No intensively, especially since both Daru and Diaphone were in the tournamnet. Goldlewis does very poor against I-No, and Gobou used Zato for the rest of the tournamnet so Diaphone most likely didn't feel the need to study the matchup

Daru said that his I-no:Gobou Zato matchup is 10:3-4 and his I-no:Gobou Gold matchup is 10:8 and Gobou was practicing hard to pick it agaisnt Daru, but Diaphone got in the final instead so yep, he's got fucked.
To be real I think diaphone just played the matchup really bad, I think he should’ve just kept more distance and used chemical love and the note projectile more instead of challenging him close range where goldlewis can take 80% of your health in 1 combo, but that’s just me

If you fast cancel a mid-air drift RC you keep the momentum of the drift. It's the same thing Sol does for his HVV RC combos.

These are some of the worst matches I've ever seen in Guilty Gear history. I think I'm gonna cry. I love Guilty Gear and THIS is the shitshow it becomes? What the fuck happened? Why do people HABITUALLY lower their standards?

@@Bomfunker91 Wow. He's staying on one side of the screen constantly. For those who are curious about the clone thing? It's basically a shield. Big fucking deal. His palm strike looks lame. His walking shot looks lame and usually? I'm into that crap. This game just looks lame in general. I love gatling guns and this game somehow made THAT look lame as hell. Out of all the series. I would legit have picked up Gold Lewis if it wasn't for the fact that Strive is probably one of the most low brow fighting games. The art style's nice, the music's decent, but the gameplay is just a joke. Yet, people are impressed with this? I mean come on. His kick looked uninteresting, him shooting in the air the way he did was poorly animated in a lot of ways and was an utter cliche. You can do that stuff in Arcana Heart. You can do that in Blazblue. But at least in those games, there was far more going on with what the characters did. I can already tell that like the rest of the cast, you'll have little control of what you can do with the characters. I'm not trying to be an asshole, I'm just being honest with this particular post. The fact that roman cancels function the way they do is an example of why nothing can look interesting in this game too. A lot of it is using mechanics that were legitimately abusive in Xrd and actually reduced both the skill barrier and interesting aspects of the game SIGNIFICANTLY. Yet, here they are in this game too, reincarnated in different forms. Example: Drift roman cancels. They're a dumb idea. Instead of using it to utilize a move, it can be used just for the option of movement that EVERYONE has. Aspects like that were the reason why every character became the same, even in Xrd. Yet, the mere notion that this company made about "every character being unique" is contradictory. Roman cancelling during neutral to slow down time and gain a huge advantage? If every character does that (and it happens in tournaments a LOT), what makes them unique again? The answer is, they're not and it feels like this company plays with people's intelligence in order to make themselves look good.
The lock on mechanic looks like a freebee for the most part too. And this game does that. There's so little room to move on screen in this game that missing a hit is practically impossible. And even if you do whiff? It's not that big a deal in this game. In any other Guilty Gear, you would get HIT for whiffing often enough, even in the smallest ways. You needed to be relatively accurate. If you weren't? It would cost you. In this game, it's not much of a concern, cause there's far less options than there should be to actually evade or get in, let alone punish. The characters are extremely bare bones, especially for modern fighting game standards. You put ridiculous hitboxes and hurtboxes in a game where nobody can move, there's far less versatility to what you can do on a fundamental level and the game mainly focuses on being neutral heavy, then doing half health combos that lead into a wallbreak. Not to mention, since the movement is pretty slow in this game, you can see what's coming easily enough. You use to actually be able to come up with unique methods WITHOUT roman canceling in older Guilty Gears, yet even WITH roman cancelling, your options are still straightforward for the most part. And yeah, you can use "drift roman cancels" to enhance it, but it's so mediocre in comparison and your illusion of freedom is reduced to using a broken mechanic that can solve many situations and give you a complete and utter freebee. People say "At least you can't full screen roman cancel", but don't even realize why that was an issue in Xrd. If someone just roman cancelled from full screen and did nothing, it honestly didn't amount to anything. The issue was, they'd do something such as air dash, roman cancel which would lead to the opponent moving forward, slowing down time and gaining invincibility. So it's such a hypocritical statement because that is EXACTLY what drift roman cancels do. And for the most part? The other aspects of roman cancelling are either that or just being given another chance/doing a huge of combo damage.
You as a company stated this game would be about being intuitive, but it hasn't. Intuition doesn't come solely from playing as pragmatically as possible. None of this game is about feeling. It's just about playing as basically as possible and yet, people hype it more than it honestly deserves. There legitimately isn't anything unique about this particular game. But honestly, I ask myself why I'm even typing this cause chances are? You don't care. Either way, this game isn't an art anymore and it honestly doesn't have as much depth as you pretend it has. And I'm not trying to be mean. I'm actually being sincere with this post and trying to retain every bitter emotion that comes with the fact that I can't enjoy this game. Cause Guilty Gear played like nothing else. Strive plays like everything else.

@@Siberianhusky89 Alright, on a serious non-troll note; I totally get where you're coming from. It's not fun to see a series you love turn into something that isn't what you fell in love with. But Strive has a lot of fun stuff in it, if you give it a chance. It's not the same as the OG Guilty Gears, but that's alright, because those games are still good and still there ready to be played (the Steam version of Accent Core+R is excellent, for example).
Strive is doing its own thing - which a lot of people are enjoying - and it doing its thing won't make the old games disappear.
This game is garbage. The massive damage for easy combos isn’t hype it’s lame and boring to watch. It’s a shame too because it could have been truly great.
