Man the Goldlewis pick after running Zato the whole tourney was absolutely MAD. Gobou is insane. The way LK was narrating towards the end had me feeling the heavyweight commentator vibes
The smile after Gobou won the first game during the stream was just delicious. He tasted blood with that first game perfect and he loved every bit of it.

I'm an Ino main but my training partner is a Goldlewis, this shit was nutty to watch live and I really felt it was over after the first couple rounds. This mu is probably in her favor on paper but Gobou is just that much of a beast
I'm a huge Diaphone fan. Watching him play Granblue was what got me into the FGC, not to mention we're both in New Jersey. I was at the edge of my seat for every one of his matches for the entire event. Especially when he was fighting ApologyMan. That was scary. Watching the grand finals I felt like I was getting the bad ending in a game. It was so tragic. Gobou is undeniably amazing though. He was so clean throughout the entire tournament
Ye, holy shit Gobou is someone you should not play after just winning against ApologyMan. As much as people meme that Faust is trash, he is extremely scary to play against in practice. I hope Diaphone gets to redeem himself in a situation where he doesnt need to fight so many people before he fought Gobou (who only played one match against Uriels Nago, which is very much in Zatos favor - not to devalue him tho, he is absolutely insane).

Part of me wants to desperately believe he did it because he thought the matchup was better than Zato, but there’s no way he didn’t want to meme the whole time with that devious look on his face
Apparently when he plays with Daru, Daru beats his Zato around 10-4 or so, but they go even in I-no vs Goldlewis. That makes it make sense.
Also a bunch of things came up in the set that made the pick make sense too.
Whats the deciding factor in that matchup? I-no's limited approach options? Goldlewis doesnt have to stress at midrange as much as against a Sol or Ky, so he can comfortably swing typhoons around to hold space, I guess.
The GL vs. I-No MU is bad for GL, he's just Gobou
@@fortidogi8620 The matchup is Ino favoured heavily but Gobou was insane during this set. Gobou called out Ino's overhead with 2P an incredible amount of times. That's not GoldLewis winning, that's Gobou.
@@BedlessSleeper After the tourney both Diaphone and Gobou said that the matchup is slightly GLD favored, 6-4 if I recall correctly. Lewis is no joke as a character, especially in hands of someone like Gobou (who was in prime shape as he didnt need to fight as many people as Diaphone). Dont get me wrong, I-no is no slouche and maybe Diaphone couldve gotten for more notes to create safe openings, but good luck doing that against GLDs pressure from typhoons.
The matchup basically comes down to if I-no gets an opening and manages to convert while punishing spam (which is extremely hard when she has to stay in the range of the 2P coz of the inability to mix from far away and coz of typhoons). Low spam is especially annoying for I-no since the only real way to punish it is to stop the pressure and punish via a read. And if she cant convert fast enough and loses pressure GLD fucks her up in neutral really hard thanks to typhoons and his chip damage.

I was so bummed he was out I cared not for the next match. Especially when the minions did not hit Diaphone after he got a trumpet, Dia literally landed on them but nothing happened, classic Faust.

Imo the issue here isnt Goldlewis, its that low spam is very hard to punish rn on certain characters. 2P spam devalues overhead, 6P and s/hsstroke, basically forcing I-no to lose pressure. As much of a meme as "blocking is useless just spam out" is there is a bit of truth to it. Maybe arcsys could decrease the range on 2P/K since theyre already very fast and devalue too many things at the same time.

He was slumped, not on the wall. When you are slumped, you can't tech off the wall. I describe it in another video.

I was rooting for Diaphone, one of his videos helped me learn to play I-no when the game first came out.
I don't think Goldlewis in the grand finals is that surprising, but picking GL over Zato against I-no certainly is. I wonder if Gobou felt out of practice with him?
He played zato every other set this tournament so probably not

@@HellecticMojo Daru said he plays with gobou a lot so he knows the ino matchup. He also said that when he uses zato the score is usually 10-3 daru, but when he uses GL it's 10-8.
Dia also showed that he didn't practice up on the GL matchup with kidviper.
Yeah, Gobou swept everybody with Zato without losing a match. I think Goldlewis has a good matchup against I-no. She has to come to him which saves him the problem of getting in. Then when she does try to approach him his range can explode her before she reaches him.

Both have massive, glaring issues. Yes they can kill you in one combo but Goldlewis is super slow and Chipp dies if you sneeze on him

Diaphone really had insufficient knowledge on this matchup. Daru would have forced a switch to zato for real.
Actually the major reason Gobou picked GL here was that he did way better against Daru I-no in FT 10s as GL after getting smoked with his Zato.
It would have been a smart counterpick no matter what. It's a tricky match and IIRC Gobou has experience with Goldlewis against Daru as well.
Gobou made the counter pick because switching to zato wouldn't have helped
