It dropped down into the 60's last night and stayed in the 80's today. It's June in Michigan. We have warm days but only a few hot days.
Finally getting the debris from the Annex build sorted out and put into usable condition. I will be able to use the lumber from the building material pallets to finish off the pallet racking and some will go into the lean-to I hope.
Thanks for your families prayers. Dr apt tomorrow to check on the broken shoulder. The bruising has been going away. If she can drop the sling and use both arms that will be a good day. 😀😎

Hope nobody was hurt. Firetrucks mean trouble unless it is a parade.

It's always nice when you get to the end of the project/task/day - time to just sit down and cool off. You feel good too because you got something done. Nice.

Amazing how much free wood you get from those pallets. To think I use to go buy wood for shelving?

      Works well for rough shelving.
Izzy Swan is a master of recycling pallets. He made some beautifull furniture from recovered pallet wood. @izzyswan

We finally had some cooler weather tonight but only for a day. 😂👍

It always seems to be hotter in town. The old house sat in the middle of cornfields and pastures. It was a mile sweep on the west side with no trees until you hit my property line. Always had a breeze.
It was a lot nicer today. Thunderstorms this morning and cooler this afternoon when they stopped.
Drs apt today so no work in the shop. Tomorrow should be better. 😀😎

There must be some use (reuse) for that steel strapping. But be careful. Wayback, a co-worker was nailing some steel strapping in a boxcar, and the nail came back at him, managed to get past his safety glasses, and perforate his eye. He eventually lost use of the eye.

That green strapping was plastic. I don't have a use for that style of strapping so I don't keep any. At least not yet.
I do have steel strapping that I use for making scraper blades and the occasional saw blade or shim.
Those nail guns can be dangerous for sure. The spring steel they are made of is hard enough to be brittle. Strong under tension but not able to withstand flexing. It will resist penetration. Air nailers drive the soft nail so fast that it will bend if it hits something strong enough to stop it.
I have had a framing nailer drive a nail completely through a 2 x 4 because the pressure was set wrong.
I have also had the framing nail hit a knot and get deflected out of the 2x4 and off into the distance.

When I saw that jug I was thinking you were really thirsty! Please don't drink nails and my grandpa was never so cheap to straighted nails at least when I was with him. I could see resusing barn spikes or 60d nails huge ones. Too be fair old nails like electrical wire was much thicker and bigger of they were galvanized they may just be worth it. Most were bright no coating rust magnets. Good thing nails are only for framing and little tiny wire nails for trim. Screws took over the world.

I developed carpal tunnel in my right wrist. Driving spikes for deck framing at the last two houses and repairing the barns and workshop at the Union City house pushed it over the edge.
I can still drive nails left handed just fine. If I don't push it too much my right hand is okay for a while.
Putting in the upstairs bathroom with a whirlpool tub in the old house I put a deck across one end of the former bedroom to spread the load of the 50 gallon bathtub to the walls. I had purchased a B&D battery operated screwdriver. It was in the early 90's when they started the battery operated DIY tools in earnest. I was driving 3" drywall screws through the pine 2x6's into native oak framing. The screwdriver did pretty well but I was putting a heavy strain on the gears.
I started using screws a lot more when Dad gave me a Makita 9V 3/8 reversing drill motor. I still have both and they still work 30 years later.
Now most of the time I use screws. The DeWalt impact means less torque on my wrist.
Saving the hammering for blacksmithing. Having my hand go numb is not pleasant. 😀😎

Having a cool workshop is better than a hot one.
I can always wear a coat and gloves if I am cold or even better heat the shop with the stove. Once I'm down to skin I can't do much more than just be hot.
I need to have a sponsor offer to insulate and provide air conditioning for the shop. I would be willing to mention how nice it was for them to do it too!
