- Check out the full video of the new STAGES Paris-Roubaix recording featuring special guest George Hincapie. Lance, JB and George (who has raced this notoriously tough Spring Classic), recap an exciting day of racing.
Have to say that George adds quite a bit to the show. He is very eloquent explaining race dynamics.
I swear, this is the best cycling show on the planet. I love the ease of access to this great content. Will be getting my WEDU gear soon. See back in Austin Lance.
It's great to have a cycling pdcast with the 'real' knowledge.
No kidding, man. Absolutely amazing, without a doubt
Please make an episode about Hincapie’s Cape Epic Race!!!!! It would be great to hear him speak about it.
As ALWAYS, Lance and his podcast so entertaining and insightful for in-the-know cycling fans ... awesome job!!!
I’ll be at Amstel Gold next weekend. I’ll have a beer 🍺 for you fellas. Great work as per usual 🍀
Just looked on the Hotel Domestique website, looks beautiful but I cannot reserve a room, they are booked-sold out - forever????
Excellent!! P.S. I still ride the white Trek 5200 (2001) carbon Postal Service Team bike.. It still carries me several thousand miles a year.... Just like the bike you and George road.
George was an awesome addition! More George seems good...
Love these recaps as always. Thanks for putting them out there for us. Having Mr. Hincapie present pings the needle for high quality analysis. I am now a fan of Dillier who chose to cooperate with Sagan rather then just holding his wheel. Difficult to view this upload. Background was blown out and mostly you guys were in silhouette. Pump in some fill light. 👍
31:19 "Slovakian rubels" - that's pretty much like someone from Europe saying "Texan pesos" :)
Yeah, thinking that Slovakia is some russia-like 3rd world country and not a member of Euro zone was quite ignorant from Lance, but I can forgive him that, after all, he's american lol
He not knowing that Slovakia is in EU and Eurozone is not "joking". If Slovakia still had its national currency, that joke about "Slovakian roubles" would make sense. Now it just shows his lack of knowledge. Slovakia has Euros for 9 years already.
They get the cycling right, the rest is bullsh*t. Lighten up.
Sagan sits in the wheels of stage races and grand tours, without a doubt. But when it comes to one day races he is always happy to work. Boonen is off his rocker.
not so the last two seasons, be real
If people are gonna sit on his wheel and not pull through like when he basically told Terpstra to go fuck himself at last years' Gent-Wevlegem, no, he won't work.
He is the worldchampion, he is the best rider out there for a lot of races, its normal people expect him to do the most of the work, its the smart thing to do. And Boonen's comment got pulled out of context, he didnt say its wrong for sagan to sit in the wheel, that's normal too, its wrong for him to complain nobody wants to ride with him, if he himself isnt even willing to do the brunt of the work
And in addition to that: Boonen always, but really always, worked in the classics. Not only working, he shreds the group in pieces. Sagan used to do the same. Look it up: Tom Boonen - Taaienberg...What a beast!
Lance doesn't really know how Twitter's trending topics works LOL
Outstanding podcast!! V. informative and V. funny. And the dynamics between the 3 of you crewmen is great: radio man, boss man and expert man. Forgot NBC Sport, forget SKY, forget Eurosport, this is the best cycling cast out there- hands down and whichever wants a rating landslide, put these guys on TV. PS I have no vested interest- just recognizing a great cycling product and supporting great champions.
... i think the riders were beat up real bad... not because of the season so much as from the race itself... sagan is a smart rider and strong... he didn’t stand up and attack... he just walked away from the group... it didn’t look threatening... after he was away he just hammered on it... luckily the swiss rider was strong enough to lend a hand... he knew he was racing for second even though he had a strong finish in the velodrome...
Fuckin A. Gents I have to hand it to you, it's the best show on earth. Thanks for bringing us those insights you say it just like true fans. Great to hear from George too. Hey Lance, why didn't you ride it and do you regret it? Great effort keeping it all together JB there's a big money job out there for ya! ( If you want it). George do you think you could think about losing the disposable cups from Hotel Domestique? There's a big world out there we all need to save.
Alias the Prothet= Jehovah's Now in Education You have also the Fish......oh don't let False Wetness fooling You....
You can see Goolaerts crash in some videos, for example around 57sec here ua-cam.com/video/IEJAjS07-t0/v-deo.html looks like he just passed out on the bike, rides straight through a turn… doesn't look like he even tried to turn. Sad situation. Hopefully the inquest gives some good answers for the family

Just watched. Best show the boys have done. Do the best of the the blue train like this episode. Ride to the level of your smile.
This is the best cycling podcast ever. Great show guys, love your work and hope to see many many more like this.
Great podcast Allez Sagan!👌🤘💪🚴🏻
George's handlebar issue: ua-cam.com/video/UZg1vrvGbdE/v-deo.html
Great analysis! George has great insight, love hearing from this guy!
Absolutely the best cycling podcast out there! So nice to hear them talk about different stories that you would never here from other commentators! I cracked up when Lance said" this isn't some busboy this just called up to do the race" I about choked on my dinner, great stuff thanks again guys!
Yeah, Lance is funny! I laughed when he was talking about Sagan's voice and did an impression of him! Good stuff! :)
Rest In Peace Goolaerts
Looking forward to new podcasts
Great show full of insider info.
Sagan kept activating and de-activating the front suspension on his stem/headset, On the smooth paved roads, he would lock it out then on the Pave sections activate the suspension. Surprised Armstrong and Hincapie did not catch that when asked about technical questions on the bikes...
Working with Sagan was Dillier's ONLY choice. If he refused to rotate to the front, Sagan would have had no choice but to attack. One he got dropped the field would catch him instantly. After 200K up front he couldn't have much left.
The only way to experience 1% of what these guys go through is to ride the cobbles, I thank my lucky stars that I am European and live close enough to have ridden the cobbles. It's a "bucket list" item like riding Mont Ventoux or owning an italian classic bicycle for any cyclist. Seeing these guys ride 50 kph on cobbles is truly insiping and I was luck enough to watch spartacus complete his last Paris Roubaix while on the Carrefour de L'Arbe. Dream come true was to ride round the velodrome, what other sport offers such a close experience? Big fan Lance, keep it up.
SO GLAD george stopped everyone to talk about taylor's effort and ride. my understanding was he was shooting for a top-10 finish, and he did it! i was out there on the kwaremont in flanders the week before with all my u.s.a. gear goin' nuts for taylor!! it's so great o be a fan out there on the road and have an american to cheer for! enjoyed the discussion so much, you guys. thank you for doing this!!
Great show. I´ve been a big cycling fan since the late 80´s & Paris Roubaix has always been my favorite race. The drama this year delivered as well & but with a sad epitaph with the death of Goolaerts.
Good on you lance for covering this great race ... just got back from Lille , loved it....sad news about the death of Michael goolaerts..so young hard to believed it could happen to a pro cyclist..r.i.p 🙏 cracking pod cast , brilliant entertainment, keep up the high standards 👏👏good to see you in lean n fit 👍unlike lemond who’s let himself go big time lol 😂 look forward to more podcasts
One thing you guys didn't address was if you think Team Education First made the right call by having Phinney work for Sep there at the end. I was thinking they should have done the opposite since Taylor has a better sprint. I'm curious as to your take on it.
Interviewer: What was going through your head...?
Taylor Phinney: I mean not a lot to be honest. Just like (sigh), fuuuuuck...
Lance and George, thank you for the excellent Wedu kit. It is absolutely the best kit I have ever purchased. The quality and attention to detail these kits have make my Castelli Aero kit feel cheap and fragile. Will be buying Hincapie from now on!
Big George and Lance like old times love it... and the boys look good so they must be riding and eating healthy at forty+ very inspirational for us old folk.
Dude golden. The all stars talking out pari roubaix. I’m cheesing listening to hincappe yap about roubaix and giving phinney a thumbs up. Woot woot
Thank you Lance. Great podcast, you will succeed in everything you do. Stay positive don’t let stress get to you.
paris roubaix hard to control with all sectors and sprints prior
and length its a true man on man race
feel for young swiss rider damned if you help and dammed if don't
sagan was strongest on cobbles young guy was just hanging on
the watts Sagan was putting down, on the cobbles he always went to the front and was interesting the chasers couldn't make time on cobbles
its just vitamin
what's the joke worth between Sagan and Dillier? 50k euro?
Word on the street has it that Boonen paid out big for some of his wins
+WEDU. Thank goodness for the Classics because I need my Stages Podcast Fix. @fitspeek
I can only picture George wearing a silver chain from the "Hard Road" movie ! What a goof.
Lance what about a Q&Q session with George on the Cape Epic, two American's won after all?
Terpstra was the strongest this cobble season with 2 wins and a 3rd in this race. Shame they didn't show how he drove away in the last 2 kms.
I love Stages Podcast! Thanks guys! I love it when George is around.
Let's just be honest. It's time for Phil and Paul to step aside and let these three guys do the Tour de France.
Insightful, great stories. Well done lads!
Really interesting to hear from these legends . Well done guys .
You're making pro-cycling assessable to everyone on a deeper level. Thank you
Great hotel. Had a great stay. Need more Hincapie in future podcasts.
mind you Sagan has had good teachers in past riders Fabian Cancellara and Tom Boonan
he has the experience
great podcast, as usual!! glad to have a podcast where the host is an ex pro who knows the stuff, i wish stages podcast was weekly
The Trek Domane has the isoSpeed decoupler, which adds a bit of Suspension front and rear. Specialized has the future shock which suspends the handlebar. I don’t know if either of these bikes were used in the race but they were developed for these types of roads.
nice back memories talking old discovery and postal days cheers boths

The Peter Sagan impersonation by Lance was hilarious.
I don’t like Lance’ s arrogance. One would think he would be much more humble after what he has done. He has experience of course but after all the doping no one will ever respect him anymore
erwineerwine
don't watch then
His confidence and self assuredness is part of what makes him a tenacious competitor. And stop with the doping commentary, they all were into it, so either respect all or none, not single out one
the past aside, george and lance are bad-ass's is that a word?
Best cycling cast available!
Lance is aging well like the hair👍like these podcasts
Great to have George there! 17 times pretty awesome!
Taylor won the U23 version twice.
Great podcast, as usual :)
And the camaraderie is just awesome!! :)
Love having George on. Legend. Great podcast, guys.
It was not that the group could not follow Sagan, Terpestra certainly COULD have.... but they all played the "I am not gonna ride" game.
Sills71 they were riding! Four Terpestra's could have caught Sagan and Dillier, but that four couldn't!
Loving the podcasts, a great insight to the races.
how is the coffee down there at Hotel Domestique?
This is priceless for the anecdotes alone!
Slovaks use Euros. Come on, boys.
Please start to make previews! $))))
Great to see the video up so fast after the race! Great info. Looking forward to next weekend Amstel!
Dirty faces win races...Great show guys!
Amazing good. Two Epic heroes.
RIP Michael Goolaerts
I love Georgie!
Addictive 👍👍👍
Great audio quality
Nice to see Georgie
30:25 :-)
I hope Lance does a podcast on the settlement he is going to pay to the Government and Landis... that would be interesting
Govt suing Lance is a joke, the team was complicit in the whole thing and for optics the govt goes after the athlete.
Awesome show
Awesome!
Happy GEMINIE'S Mr Philistines don't be MAD with PALESTINE SIR ILIST...YES MR SUNFLOWER =Men Middle Head's no HAIR ...oke Sweet Micro (Crying to get Out From the Earth) KEY...=Tools sound to the Earth Agriculture deliverance of SUNFLOWERS...
Another great show with some fantastic insight. Got to give it to JB... great at keeping the discussion going, and leading it along with his questions and comments. Overall, great stuff guys. Beats the Babbling Brits we have to deal with on the actual NBC Gold coverage (anyone else tired of Paul Sherwin's constant attempt to educate us about "the sport of professional bicycle racing"?... coming from a guy who is decades away from racing).
Really enjoyed this, great to hear Georges's input given his experience of the race. And a great performance by Sagan, he timed it to perfection.
