    Although I am grandma... I still watched this, as your family is so sweet. Love seeing the love and traditions you do. At 72, I wait all year for peppermint Peeps! Omg... love to float them in my coffee with whipped cream and peppermint crunch sprinkles!!!! Also anything gingerbread... cookies , cakes, muffins. My memory of Christmas in the fifties is when Mom would sit on our red couch (she was ahead of her time!) with the box of silver tinsel strands. She would give us 3 little girls each about 20 strands over our arms to place (not throw) over each branch. Boy , did that tree shimmer when the lights went on! She always had a fire going in the fireplace in our little new track house that Daddy bought after the war in 1950. Oh , the memories . Your children will remember all of this too! You all are blessed!

    My first tradition with my son was to give him an ornament every year that had something to do with an activity he participated in that year (i.e., one year he went white water rafting with his Boy Scout troop so I found one at Hallmark with a Santa Claus that was white water rafting). As an adult he already had Christmas tree decorations that really meant something. With my grandchildren, I do an advent Christmas...they each receive a gift from December 1st through December 24th (the 25th is for Santa). I do inexpensive items (thank you Walmart and Dollar Tree) and then one or two nice things. I collect things throughout the year so it doesn't hit me all at once. If I had a lot of grandchildren I wouldn't be able to do this. I have three beautiful grandchildren.

    we have a book elf come, every night after dinner there is a christmas book under the tree for us to read as a family that night. We use the same books every year and add just a few new ones. We have books from when both my husband and I were kids too. I love that its a new book every night.

    each year we take the kids to the store to pick out a new ornament for the year and we write their name and year on it. We have a whole tree that is just for these yearly ornaments. its so fun each year looking back at the ornaments from the years

    I enjoyed going to those neighborhoods with the whole community decorated. We would ride around and look at the lights. We now go to the Festival of lights in Riverside where I live and I love getting a hot chocolate and a baked treat.

    Sharrah, as your kids get a little older, and heavier and stronger, it can also be a good idea to secure the tree to the wall or the ceiling to prevent them from accidentally pulling it over.

    I remember as a kid setting up the Christmas village and the nativity scene that my grandmother hand painted for all of her children. My brothers and I loved making the hills out of boxes with the fake snow over it. Now my children love to help decorated the tree and ride around our neighborhood on the golf cart looking at Christmas lights. It's fun starting your own family traditions and see the kids getting excited as well. I love the Norman Rockwell Christmas decor... It looks amazing!

    We had these Tinsel Garlands in Different Colours and Designs that we Swagged Accross our Living Room and Paper Snowflakes that hung from the Ceiling. We used Peppermint Candycanes and Velvet Baubles to decorate our Tree. Christmas in our house in 80's Nigeria was my Favourite Time of The Year. I live in Ireland now and I look forward to Christmas Still. It is such a Special Season. I pray A Happy and Blessed Christmas to you Sharrah and Your Precious Family ❤

    How wise you are to teach your children to appreciate nice things. A friend of mine once said, "I love my children no matter what they do, I just want everyone else to love them too." When we teach our children how to care for nice things, they grow up being delightful and not "well" terrors. I love your home and the warmth it exudes, not only for you and your family but also for others. One thing I've done with my family is to buy a new version of The NIght Before Christmas every year. It's so much fun to get them out every year and go through them one by one. Merry Christmas!

      Amen! My parents managed to teach their large crowd this, and I have spent years as a nanny being frustrated that this is a rare character people attempt to add to their children’s lives. Spares everyone so much annoyance, inconvenience (and money) when parents teach their children boundaries.

    One thing we always did with our kids, soon as they got up and before going into the living room, we would all sit in one bed and sing happy birthday to Jesus. Now my daughter does the dance with her babies.. my son had his first in September and I'm hoping he'll do the same! And those peppermint taffy's, I've been buying at Christmas for years, soooo yummy😋🎅🎄

    A tradition that I love is we do 3 wise men gifts. We have a big nativity and wrap them in simple brown kraft paper with twine. We get 3 gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
    Gold (something valuable--symbolizes royalty): something heirloom quality that we hope is passed down.
    Frankincense: (something for the spirit--symbolizes divinity): we usually give something like a prayer journal or something to deepen our relationship with God for the year.
    Myrrh: (something for the body--symbolizes humanity/humanness): we usually give a gift of self-care in some way.
    One year I combined all 3 and gave my husband actual gold, frankincense, and myrrh from the same regions as the gifts brought by the magi.
    Of course, we get/give other gifts, but it’s a beautiful way to start off with the reason for the season… heading straight to the nativity (usually on Christmas Eve per Matthew 2:1-12… then someone lights the star above the nativity).
    love the video :) thanks

    My mom had soft little pillow ornaments of Xmas characters that would go on the lower levels of the tree. It meant no little kid (or naughty kitties) knocked anything off that would break. I still have some. ❤

    Sarrah, this year your decor is simply delightful! It's so cozy, detailed, and makes you want to delve into every aspect. The idea of not just having a designer look Christmas but also dedicating time to your children is truly magical! Your family sOooOoo is inspiring. I'm currently in a stage of life where I'm already an adult without a family of my own. I miss the magic of Christmas with parents that you describe.🥰 I remember creating gifts and cards with my mom in childhood. Your paper Christmas trees from the 25 days of Christmas were a real marvel! 🥰 Looking forward to the day when I can create Christmas magic for my own children! Thank You!

      What a RUDE thing to say. Try just unfollowing in silence rather than trying to make her feel bad. Who'd want to live near someone who'd say such a thing? Grow up!

    • @audreyd3012
      @audreyd3012 7 місяців тому

      Exactly what does her moving away have to do with you watching her videos? If you watched her before, she is a talented, young mother. Where she lives, makes a difference how? Btw, as said. Then just unfollow, no need to share that you are or aren’t.

    • @Gigi-fv9ky
      @Gigi-fv9ky 7 місяців тому

      This doesn’t make a bit of sense to me. Why do you feel this way? First, since I have been subscribed to her mom’s channel forever, I have been watching Sharrah since she was in college so have seen her move many times Second, from a design perspective, moving means she’ll have even more content for the foreseeable future as she hunts for a new home, moves in, and designs, and possibly even remodels, a new house. If you are watching for design, her move is going to give more content, not less.
