A couple observations from past experience. When stuck only a portion of your vehicle is actually stuck. Forgot the formula but a 18,000 lb LMTV is only stuck up to around 3500 to 4000 lbs. It sounds strange but their is some physics associated with being stuck. It helps if you dig out some of the mud in front of the tires in the direction you are pulling. It helps. Third and most important. Take an old blanket, jackets or anything to lay over the top of your pulling cable/line. If it breaks it will simply lay down like you dropped it out of your hand and not fly through your windshield or even worse you or someone else. Take care.

Nice work. I know it would be expensive but time to upgrade size and tread on those tires.

So this is the second recovery of your lmtv, but each time you used the electric winch on another vehicle. Why not use your hydraulic winch on the LMTV?
Enjoyed the description of your rigging and logic. Need more LMTV off-road videos please.

Fitst off, thanks for watching and I'll see if I can come up with some more videos. I was afraid that the detail I went into might bore some people.
There were several factors for which I didn't use the LMTVs winch. The main one is that it is PTO driven and so the truck can't help with the recovery, you can only be in neutral. The 2nd is that the pull had to be very shot because of the location of available anchor points to attach to. The LMTV has a lot of line on the drum and if you don't get very much out the winch is worthless. Even if I used a pulley and made it a double line pull it might not have been enough line off of the drum to have the power it needed to recover itself. Another reason is that the line and snatch block are real heavy so if it might not recover itself I'd rather not chance dealing with it for nothing. Lastly, seeing my little truck pull it out make me happy. My little Nissan has been amazing for me.

I have used the hydraulic winch for self recovery twice. The self recovery (in the snow both times) is where I learned that not having enough cable out prevented the drum from having enough torque to pull the heavy rig forward. I think the winch is only rated for 11,000lbs at the 1st coil. You have to go down a ways for it to have enough pulling power to deal with the 18,000lbs plus what is causing it to be stuck. Adding the snatch block doubles the pulling power if the line is directly back to the rig. The snatch block weighs about 70lbs though and wasn't fun to carry through 4' of snow!
I have also used it several times on the farm to pull out stumps or to drag some logs into position.

      @@TheOffRoadPodcast it goes up to 11 😁.
It's a 10kip meter so putting it on the bumper reaction of the double line pull would measure up to 20kips.

The truck was literally 17,700lbs EMPTY. 18,000 = 9 TONS. This was the winch model which weighed more than the regular models.
