That’s pretty cool. I never knew soapstone was so soft. And it looks pretty cool from what I could see. If I ever come across any I’ll sure keep this in mind
It’s pretty fun to play with, I got a couple little pieces of that graves Mountain stuff boxed up, it’s like 95% bubble wrap, I hope they make it there in good shape, I should get it sent out soon
@@diggingappalachia954 it looks pretty fun. Plus who doesn’t love when you can see progress so quickly. And sounds good. I appreciate you sending some out. They looked awesome
That’s Awesome Jesse, it’s cool how malleable it is, I found a big piece of a steatite soapstone bowl a few days ago, I thought it was steatite when I found it because people were telling me my drilled piece was steatite and it looked like the same material so I assumed it was, it wasn’t till I did some googling I realized steatite is soapstone, when I got home and cleaned it up I was scratching it with nails and was basically able to make etchings with my nails and I realized how soft it is, I just uploaded the video last night so it was really cool to see you upload this today, I need to start collecting any pieces I find and try to make pendants and stuff from it, Pretty Cool Buddy, Thanks For Sharing, GL&HH!!!
Man I could send you some of that South Carolina stuff, I found a spot about an hour from my place where I can grab pretty good chunks, the hike out is a little rough though, I have to watch yours still but yeah, they carved those bowls while it was in the boulders, it’s neat to see how they did it
@@diggingappalachia954 hey Dude I will trade you some stuff if you’re willing to do that for me and yeah it’s pretty Amazing how the Natives utilized materials and the craftsmanship they developed through generations, Absolutely Amazing!!!
Hes made all kinds of stuff out of it. Theres a bag of pendants he made that i came across recently byt then misplaced it again. Hes made me plugs n tunnels. Hes made BEAUTIFUL smoking pipes too. He should show the white dendritic one we have. This is mrs appalachia btw lol

@The Georgia Creek Walker🏹 the stuff in particular hes talking about is really pretty too. Dark with green n gold.
I think your method can be used to rejuvenate a soapstone wood stove. Thanks for your video.
Those are hard to find, but yeah just get down to that super fine grit wet dry to get a nice polish
Thanks for watching 👍✌️

It is basically talcum stone ( close to it) it is extremely soft & easy to carve with very basic tools
