I like the test. I think the sound is quieter in open air. Sounds waves will bounce all over in garage. Also like others mentioned a db comparison when reved up with will be interesting.
well i don't like my idle being high like you say he should have it, i have always had it like that. But the experience of growing up with dirtbikes and had my own since i was born might be that i dont know what im talking about :(
Old video and old comment, but I still have to say that FMF Q silencers sounds more smoother if you understand me and I personally like it alot. Shortys sounds soo bad even when they are in good condition.
Miro skyttä the shorty is a horrible silencer ! Cheaply made, sounds super bad, bottom-mid has good power and super good throttle response, but as soon as you get into the topend it falls flat on its face
Sound don't mean much other than tone preference. It's is what it is built to do makes the difference, for example, Shorter silencers stimulate a better bottom end and mid than longer silencers which stimulate all threw the power band. It also depends on how your motor is built and calibrated as well. I've seen people cut 3 inches off shorty's for small fast tracks to power out of corners quicker and to grab the hole shot. For example to get better bottom and mid for short fast tracks shaving the bottom of the cylinder 30 thousands and the head 30 thousands and cutting your shorty by 3 inches you will beat any bike in the whole shot especially the new 4 strokes and be the fastest out of corners. You have to sacrifice top end with this combo but on most if not all tracks your never wide open in 5th gear.
Joe Espindola 2 stroke pipes are all built differently to increase bottom end, mid range and top end. Silencers complete the package and complete the package. As I stated, shorter silencers stimulate a bigger and better bottom end and mid range power while longer silencers stimulate a gradual power band threw out the RPM's. Examples of different FMF pipes are the Fatty, Factory Fatty and the Gnarly. All are built for specific reasons. The Fatty and Factory Fatty are built for the same thing, they both broaden and smooth out the power curve while boosting gains throughout the entire power band, more low-end, more mid, and increased over-rev. The difference between the Fatty and Factory Fatty is appearance. The Factory Fatty is reminiscent of the “works” or cone pipe once used by Factory Teams. It shares many of the same characteristics with its craftsmanship and material quality. The Fatty is nickle plated for a nice appearance and longer lasting while the Factory Fatty is left in its raw form. With the Factory Fatty, all the welds and bluing of the welds are left. Factory Fatty pipes do require constant rubbing of WD-40 after every ride or cleaning to prevent rust from forming. The Fatty's nickle plating protects the pipe from rusting. People such as my self still rub down the pipe with WD-40 to protect it after every wash, they just require a lot less maintenance. I like the Fatty for the look and ease of maintenance. I also have purchased the Factory Fatty and had it powder coated. Powder coating not only protects the raw pipe, but it also contains the heat better. Just like a car the longer you can contain the heat, the more power and torque you can make. The Gnarly pipe focuses on increasing the lower RPM horsepower and torque. When looking to add 4-stroke like torque to your 2-stroke and you need a pipe to withstand the harsh elements, the Gnarly pipe is perfect. It is built stronger and more rugged than the Fatty and Factory Fatty. It is an aggressive pipe that builds torque and bottom to mid range pull. Most people who choose this pipe, are the ones who like to do enduro races or are out on the trails and woods a lot. The lower you keep your torque and bottom end power, the better it is for enduro's. I do enduro as well as racing A.M.A motocross. I have a Husaberg TE 250 for my enduro races. It already comes with a flywheel weight which even further stimulates bottom end and prevents stalling at crawling speeds, it also has lower gearing and a 6 speed trans which is really nice. Silencers further enhance the pipes. You can pick and choose what you want in silencers. If you want the ultimate combo for bottom end and mid range power and torque, you would purchase the shorter silencers and the Gnarly pipe. If you want a broad range of power threw out the entire power band, you would get the longer silencer and the Gnarly or Fatty Pipe. Longer silencers will enhance both Gnarly and Fatty Pipes and will work great with all 3 pipes. After market pipes and silencers are far better than factory pipes. Yamaha by far have the best factory pipes and silencers that perfectly match the engine. They have the broadest power and torque curve than any other bikes on the market. It all depends on what you are going to be doing. If you want to race or are going to be riding in the higher rpm's, then you want a Fatty or Factory Fatty and a longer silencer. If you want a lot of bottom and mid range power and torque, then you want the Gnarly and shorty silencer. Purchasing sprocket kits that have more or less teeth will also determine the power curve. Installing a sprocket with more teeth in the rear will further enhance the bottom and mid range power and torque but will sacrifice top end speed. Less teeth will give you more top end but less bottom. Flywheel weights will give you the ultimate bottom end and mid range and you can come to a crawl without stalling your bike out. I hope this gave you an idea of what you were looking for in information. It was a long post but I think you will like it.
+Micheal Rex it loads up. Hard ridden 2 strokes are jetted rich on the bottom so when u come into a turn at redline and chop the throttle it doesnt wear out the motor as fast.
Much better sound but these idiots can make exhausts MUCH quieter it's just they chose to do so over a very long period of time to make the most money out of it as possible. It's actually very simple to quiet a 2 smoker while increasing power but the explanation takes a lot of time

Shorty 0:30 TC2 1:43
Tap the time stamps to switch back and forth
better if you rev the engine
well, experiencing the shorty in person, I can say that it's really loud. It really pops in the ears.
The rest are ok compared to that
For the love of god, set the idle higher.
+jridenour31 for the love of god its a two stroke, idle is supposed to be like that. Google it :)
I have two of them. Nice try, though.
well i don't like my idle being high like you say he should have it, i have always had it like that. But the experience of growing up with dirtbikes and had my own since i was born might be that i dont know what im talking about :(
but it's my riding style so, you shouldnt hate on him having idle low like that since he might also have a riding style with low idle.
I’ll choose low idle all day long it definitely pulls you up a lot better into corners
The shorty sounds like it needs to be repacked

@@pamaus1000 shorty sounds good sounds more aggressive like a 250 2 stroke should

@@dominickjohnston5881 Lol no pipe combo is going to make that big of a difference. Shortys don’t “fall on their face”.. it’s a silencer.
the kickstart sounds like a 4 stroke

+Sandman1832 what is the difference between fmf slip ons, silencers, and the full exhaust system? i am new to these things

Hey sandman, how can I contact you for a question? Email, Facebook? Thanks!
Wanna do this again with WOT measurements?
I did a 2nd test, camera angles didn't show the dB reading well enough. I'm going to re-film it soon. Thanks for watching!
Sound tests should involve the bike revving and not be done at idle. You aren't making a good comparison by look at idle volume on both silencer.
Great video!
that bikes clapped
does the fmf turbinecore II q have a spark arrestor?
Yes it does, but not the shorty
What app is that
not too much difference, I like the sound with the short one.
Turbin sounds way better
Yeah if it were a girls bike 😅
Cool video
Aye exact same bike as me. Good think I clicked on this video
Whats the app called?
Is this a 1997. Yz125
Super Vlogs18 250
The shorty doesn't have a spark arrestor....
Pretty much the same no diff
Ahhh dont let a 2 stroke idle for more than a few seconds!!
octaneforce lol why not
+Micheal Rex it loads up. Hard ridden 2 strokes are jetted rich on the bottom so when u come into a turn at redline and chop the throttle it doesnt wear out the motor as fast.
all that aside i still dont see why it matters letting the bike idle ,worse thing its going to do is foul a plug lol

You couldn't rev it at least one time???!!!! Smfh...terrible comparison.
About the same shit
Yeah but turbinecore makes more power
***** all i said is true.
