Based on the same winning combination of a small footprint, mini-keys, battery-powered portability and huge Korg sound, the microKORG XL is ready to expand your musical vocabulary. A gooseneck microphone is included for instant synthesizer vocoder excitement, right out of the box!
The MMT (Multi Modeling Technology) sound engine is descended from the RADIAS/R3 synthesizers, while the dual effects processors come down from the famous KAOSS line. The microKORG XL also offers remarkable playability. For example, the black key/white key proportions have been adjusted for easier chording and the key response has been improved for rapid-fire soloing. And the old -school square front keys? Well, they look wicked cool! Together with a sound-bending vocoder and six-pattern arpeggiation, microKORG XL packs a powerful sonic punch.
The eight-voice MMT synth engine in the microKORG XL music synthesizer offers traditional analog waveforms plus a total of seven algorithms, including formant waveforms, noise, and PCM/DWGS waves for those vintage keyboards and strings. Cross-modulation, unison stacking, and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) let you create sounds that would be impossible for a conventional PCM synthesizer to generate. Sync and ring modulation also make it easy to create complex and powerful sounds. Two multi-mode filters, a drive/waveshaping circuit for distinctively distorted sounds, and EG and LFO for creating time-varying tonal change, all provide plenty of parameters for serious synthesis. Virtual Patching brings it all together.

This looks like just what I need, cool sounds from the '80s and you can still play with the knobs to get some wild sounds. I just wish they had a grand piano sound.

This korg is the business. Very organic and warm indeed. Very different to, say novation, alesis etc.

I have the original version I bought used off of ebay. This newer one is really kewl.
It's amazing how you can just get the sound of this synthesizer on a PC if you have the software, it actually sounds pretty good too.
I think if I was ever to get a synthesizer, it would be a Korg. There is a reason that most professionals use Korg: they (Korg) know what they are doing.
So I have some high-pitched feedback coming in through my headphones when I play on the synth internally, can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong with my settings or if I could possibly have a faulty product?

battery power absolutely is the best feature like the video says. we will all look much more attractive if we don't have to stand near a wall :P
Is there a built-in refrigerator ?
Do these synths come with build in speakers or do you have to plug them in an amp? Just starting g to get into synth and haven't found any answers.
Hi Andy. The MicroKorg-XL+ does not have built-in speakers. The MicroKorgS is a good alternative if you want a comparable synth with built-in speakers. Typically most small synths will have ¼” outputs for connecting to an external speaker system and a headphone jack. Is it still worth it in 2022 ? I'm mainly interested in it because of the vocoder and the 8 voices. I would like to use it with a minilogue XD in future and with my volca bass and volca drum.

I wanna use this keyboard to lay down midi tracks in Presonus Studio One, but for some reason i get no sound. my other Key Rig keyboard works fine, so there must be some setting on the keyboard itself that i have forgotten to turn on/off?
The Key Rig is sending MIDI, triggering sounds in your software. The microKORG can also do that, but to hear microKORG, you need to send MIDI back, and monitor the audio output of the microKORG.
might be a stupid question, can the mic be used in a similar way like a Talk box?
Not as versatile but yes. You’re limited by the number of voices you can do.

i have quetions, it's really important to me.. im an amateur musician that mostly plays post rock, soundscape, ambient, etc.. and i just want to buy a synth.. and SORRY guys, i dont even give a freakin duck for mostly synth sounds except pads and string (im still learning synth! wish me luck!) and 1. is there any gear that specialize for making pads (or strings or organ, something that build the background, i really LOVE it)???? 2. can microkorg family download patches from other people (from internet, just like zoom g3x) so i can have many pads sound as many as i want on microkorg?? 3. thanks guys for reading, i really need your help!! peace!
If you're somewhat new, get the volca keys, and then get a midi controller.

This has been superseded by the MicroKorg XL+ (www.fullcompass.com/product/441669.html), and there is not a sustain pedal included.

Vintage synths are great. New synths are generally more reliable. It's all up to personal choice, but we'd buy both!

sure i use a line6 mobile keys, with 49 keys and fl studio. the mobile keys plugs into a ios, mac or pc

This isn't a synthesizer. It's a preset keyboard
Thats not true 100% it isn't an analog synthesizer - but it has FM Synthesis (Frequency Modulation) you can edit every sound with the 3 Knobs on the right, even the preset sample sounds
This is an Analog Modeling synthesizer which is also capable of creating FM sounds and has PCM samples. You can create patches by connecting it to a computer which has the sound editor software on it.
