Super helpful and totally agree with your advice, especially on the importance of relating academic terminology/theories to your passion in the subject! ;)
hey! im planning to apply to the course of Accounting and Finance at LSE. My fain focus is on Accounting and I get sort of confused as to what exactly Finance will entail. I've looked through the course on the website yet I'm still not too sure. Since you're doing the course what exactly do you do learn when it comes to Finance specifically?
Undergraduate finance courses often include a combination of foundational and advanced topics, such as: Introduction to Finance: Basic principles of finance, time value of money, risk and return, financial markets, and financial institutions. Financial Accounting: Understanding financial statements, accounting principles, and financial reporting. Corporate Finance: Capital budgeting, cost of capital, financial structure, dividend policy, and corporate valuation. Investments: Portfolio theory, asset pricing models, securities markets, and risk management. Financial Markets and Institutions: Structure and function of financial markets, roles of financial institutions, and the regulatory environment. Quantitative Methods in Finance: Application of mathematical and statistical techniques to financial problem-solving, including financial modeling. Derivatives: Study of financial instruments like options and futures, and their use in risk management and speculation. International Finance: Examination of global financial markets, exchange rates, and international investment. Behavioral Finance: Exploration of psychological factors influencing financial decision-making and market behavior. Financial Econometrics: Application of statistical methods to analyze financial data and make informed decisions. Financial Risk Management: Identification, assessment, and management of financial risks faced by corporations and financial institutions. Economics and Financial Markets: Understanding the economic factors that influence financial markets and decisions.
i'm applying to 2 econ courses and 3 finance ones, should i site one econ and one finance book or one for both? I did arguing w zombies by Krugman for econ and i'll either add a finance book or use one that covers both. Thanks
I am currently writing my personal statement for a+f. Do you think mentioning subject terminology would help my personal statement? Also for the books would you recommend reading the whole book or mentioning a specific part which interests me?
hey! i think terminology is good but not too much because it’s about you more than anything else. in terms of the book thing, either is fine it’s just whatever flows better for your statement i’m running a personal statement checking service btw so let me know if you are interested!
Those are amazing grades !! Do you reckon I have a shot at UCL as my aspirational uni if i’m predicted AAA when the requirements are A*AA for economics ?
@@AddittiAgrawal thank you!! I’m doing Econ, maths, business and Accounting. I was wondering if you know anyone that did A level Accounting that’s on your course and if it helped them? I’ll be applying soon for entry next year.
yep some of my friends from Malaysia and India did and they said it definitely helped! But if you’re in the UK, be careful because it may be considered as a ‘soft’ subject, as may Business. Look up ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ subjects if you’re unsure of what they are :)
Hi, this video was quite helpful .As an aspiring LSE student, I wanted to know if you would be willing to review my personal statement for a fee in return :)
