i just bought a very similar unit from matco and im sure glad i didn't get the piston type! top notch review, very professional! much appreciated! if i would have seen this earlier i would have purchased the unit you have here. Im guessing it doesn't come with files?
Saw this vid on SP Air site. Since then, all I think of is "Want it! Want it! Want It!". Gonna trade-in my IR low vib piston saw with this one when I receive my tax refund
BallJointNut: I was thinking to use one of these to cut down the middle of a ball joint bolt. Once bolt was cut in half then I could remove it. Do you think it would do the job?
I have an Automotive Glass replacement company and we do a lot of van window conversions, cutting out van panels on vans to bond in privacy glass. I have been looking for a tool that makes easy work cutting. At present we use a German Draco cutter that leaves a pigs tail as it cuts, but it's hard work cutting radius corners and is bulky. How does this saw perform on radius corners? Does it leave much swarf cutting through the steel? How controllable is it near to swage lines and paintwork?
The teeth will leave chips like any saw, but I think the main problem for you would be vibrations on that large area of sheetmetal.....most likely leaving a non-even edge and possible chipping of the paint. I would look into a nibbler.....no pigtails to deal with like a shear & you can easily cut radiuses. Hey thanks for the quick reply and links. Some van panels have the inner skin only a few millimetre's from the outside panel we cut out, so whatever tool we use to cut with has to be very shallow to clear this area behind. The air saw does look a great tool that may be just the job for cutting body seam sealer that bonds inner & outer panels & anti vibration braces/stiffening bars. Great video reviews by the way - loads of information for specific usage in the real world you have a knack for presenting this in an intelligent way. Good stuff.

+Rahsaan thomas Keep in mind that the Snap on is the Piston style (10,000 spm) .....less power, burns up blades, and stalls.....plus it costs $100 more than this one. There are very few gear driven saws on the market currently & as far as I know, this is by far the most compact one out there.

It would be a lot better if it accepted standard recip saw blades with a quick change mechanism.
Ha I've got the piston type and there's no way could it do what you did. Nice demonstration and my preference for a swivel is Milton. 👍👍

Nice review, that said, this is basically a body saw. It would have been helpful to see the saw in action being used to trim/cut body panels.

I read that the blade gaurd is now adjustable. I just ordered one, so I'll soon find out. It's now blue.

Will this tool as it's geared have a more rigid blade retainer to cut radius corners as well as straight lines?

I think the snap on dual chuck might be a little better for the money.

Yes, the blade now has a set screw and is adjustable. Actually, so does the one you are holding. Hmmmm.

+vaughnburrows I bought them locally....but they are 3/8" fittings with 1/4" NPT male threads.
I, and it seems many others, are having great trouble locating 1/4" NPT fittings with 3/8" ID. Got any links of similar products?

Yes. Keep in mind though, make sure what you are cutting through isn't loose....vibrations will rip the teeth off of any blade (on this saw or others)

A bit of false information here….under a car you wouldn’t be able to cut right round the pipe as in the video…..
Worst tool ever ,sent out 3 times to be repaired within 1 year.. Gears inside gets jammed up.
