Very interactive & plat based. Wish the teacher had corrected the girl instead of confirming her incorrect “a” for /e/ in exit. Play based & child led doesn’t mean the child leads in all areas!

I noticed she didn't actually "confirm" it. She said "okay," not "right, good job, it's an A." Correct spelling doesn't need to be a goal for 4 year olds, especially not when it's not the focus of the lesson. The child was learning to sound out words, write letters, and make a sign!

I thought her response was perfect. At that age it's much more important for a child to remain enthusiastic than to get everything correct all the time, and constant corrections can diminish a child's confidence and excitement. (Not to mention that phonetic experimentation can lead to a deeper understanding than simply memorizing.)

It's more important the girl is validated in her attempt and participation. Soon enough as she grows, she will realize how to properly spell it. To be too critical early on is to snuff the creative aspect. It's just like mispronunciations like 'pasketti'....they self-correct eventually.
