    About the tire production date. The last 2 numbers are the numbers of the year. And the 2 first are from the week

    Thanks. Helpful video!
    Your bike has the usual Yamaha-Cheap-Bike problem: Rust!
    I owned a Yamaha XV-535 and now have a 2001 Diversion 600.
    They are best kept indoors most of the time.
    It also helps to spray a little silicone grease on the exposed bolts and nuts. And use white grease for the footpegs, brake lever, clutch lever, and clutch cable end at the engine.
    But it is a nice bike to ride. It feels faster than it is. And fuel consumption is low. I do 25 km/l in the Netherlands.

      A bit of maintainence fixes all of that. Once cleaned usea little vaseline to rub on bolts etc that are prone to rust. They'll never rust again.

    The Xj is a great oldschool bike if you are on a budget. It has a half-decent performance when in good condition and with some decent tires it handles quite well actually! For me it's fun to ride and powerful enough for my small adventures.
    Great video btw. Lots of great tips! Thanks.

    Very well done video and timely. Every thing you described / discussed was straight forward with no "expounding expert" assuming people know things attitude. Looking at one of these XJ600's at the present time. Your advice will come in handy.

    This is amazing. I actually picked up my yamaha xj600 diversion last week (got it from my uncle) and this’ll help me checking it up and getting it road safe. I already knew some basics but stumbling upon this during my research is eye-opening! I’ll make a snag/punch list in excel out of this helping me with the job at hand! Btw; I like your mirrors and windscreen a lot!

    Hi from Ireland, I've owned a 94 model for eight years and if all you need is a reliable utility workhorse you can't do much better, I purchased my one for £400 in the UK I got a flight over and road it home via ferry no problems 385mls , regular oil and filter is the key especially in winter, Metzler block pattern tyres,blackwidow 4-1 exhaust system,starts first time at the moment 3° Celsius here in Ireland, not bad for a very very cheap bike, and don't ask "is it fast"🤣🤣🤣😎

    I bought a 92 for $200. Needs work but i dont mind. Carbs and tank are the major issues but a rebuild of the carbs is coming soon. Tank is not worth saving so im trying to source one. Changed the brakes and calipers. Brake fluid reservoir and line. Needs new tires. Rode her so she runs. I'll figure out any other issues as I go. Also new clutch friction plates incoming. My carb screws require a JIS screwdriver. I learned that the hard way.

    Cool video as always thanks, but where is the snow gone thought Canada was under snow for 9-10 months of year ?

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  2 роки тому +1

      Haha nah. I’m near the city of Vancouver which is about a 45 minute drive north of the USA border so we don’t get much snow. Maybe two-three months where we get intermittent snow but most of the time the snow melts in a couple days. We do get many months of rain though!

    Hi
    I’ve seen it has a pull out choke. I’ve got a diversion XJ600N 1999, I have to pull and hold the choke with a cable tie. How could I fix that please?

    I have a question for anyone who knows! I’m looking at a 92 xj600 I’m looking at tomorrow. He said the carburetor boots are shot and leaking air. And that it needs new tires. He’s asking 600$ for it. Is that a bad deal?

    Can anyone help me with some info? I've got my yamaha xj600 2000 but the problem is that i have a non original tachometer. The thing is, I'm not sure how hard can I accelerate. I read that at around 4-5k I should feel some trepidation and after that is fine. But i have no idea how hard can I go. For me the rpm is somehow divided in 4 lvls. First is at 4-5k when the trepidation starts, lv 2 is after, when things are smooth which feels nice, lv3 i feel again a little trepidation, a smooth trepidation, but and also screams the loudest, lv 4 again feels smooth again. If anyone can give me some advices, I am grateful! Thanks!

    So whats the story with that exhaust?

    • @Calvinm
      @Calvinm  Рік тому +1

      Rust, so much rust. And patching it was easier than finding an entire new and working exhaust set up.
