I am back after many years, watching this video again. I remember visiting Taishoku Dojo in 1982 and seeing Tsuyama Sensei then. I have to wonder, with a man of Tsuyama Sensei's karate pedigree, just what he thinks of karate training these days.
In 1982 Taishoku dojo was an intimidating place with some pretty scary characters on that wooden dojo floor. Today is appears to be far more relaxed and inviting. I guess that's progress.

Hopefully you’re still replying to comments! Why do you seem to never see coloured belts in university training? Usually it’s black and white belts, and even the white belts look like they’ve had previous training and don’t look anywhere near “beginner” level. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks:))

Hi and thanks for your interest. The students joining the university Karate club have belonged to many different Dojos before and therefore train with white belt first. After a certain time, they start wearing a black belt.

At the very beginning of the video (0:04), is it the famous Katsunori Tsuyama Shihan?

Taniyama Sensei is the chief instructor and Heselton Sensei is the head coach in the Karate Club.

I just corrected the title on the description column. Richard Heselton Sensei is the coach. Taniyama Sensei is Kantoku (Head coach). Once again thank you for your comment!
